AJ Styles Officially Finished With TNA Wrestling, Issues Forward Looking Statement

AJ Styles is officially a free agent. The former TNA Champion pinned a letter on his official website to officially announce his departure from TNA Wrestling. That letter is available in its entirety below:

Today for the first time in 11 years, AJ Styles awakes to find himself without a professional wrestling contract. I can't help but think how did I get here, what must I have done wrong, did I not deliver in the ring, etc. All of those are pertinent questions that any man or woman who finds himself or herself unemployed would ask. I have always prided myself in being the wrestler that stays away from the things in this business that could easily destroy myself, my family, my marriage, and even my career. A wrestler who goes above and beyond to give the fans what they paid to see. I move forward not bitter, but better for the blessings and memories that I have been a part of since TNA's inception.

When this contract renegotiation journey started several months ago, my wife and I began praying for God to close doors that needed to be closed and to open the doors that He wanted us to walk through. We asked him to prepare us for this journey and to help us to have the faith to be obedient to what He would have us to do. I am assured by the name Immanuel in Matthews 1:23 that I will never be alone. Hebrews 13.5, says He will never leave us or forsake us. There is a lot in this world that I am unsure of, especially in this moment, but there is one thing that I am certain. Contracts may expire, but the promise of Immanuel will never expire.

As my family and I move forward with my wrestling career, we will turn to Jabez's prayer found in 1 Chronicles 4:10.

Oh, that You would bless me indeed,
and enlarge my territory,
that Your hand would be with me,
and that You would keep me from evil.

My family and I are both grateful for the platform that TNA has allowed me to experience. TNA has been a blessing to our family for many years. We have made many friendships and many more memories. While you may not be seeing AJ Styles in TNA, you can be sure that he will be traveling the world and delivering many more Phenomenal matches. Visit AJStyles.org for a complete list of bookings.

Styles' contract was up earlier in the year but TNA signed him to a short-term extension to continue negotiations and get him through Bound for Glory. The two sides were unable to agree on a new deal and Styles is now free to work wherever he chooses. Because the contract expired and was not terminated, there is no clause preventing him from working anywhere else.

    enlarge his territory…subliminal message there?

  • Paul

Argh this isn’t good! TNA was rid of the dead weight (brother!) and now they have lost their champion. Hopefully they can bounce back from this however I have no idea who can be the face of the company now AJ had gone

Well done, TNA. You have officially given me no more reasons to watch your show ever again. This makes me very happy.

Hopefully Styles can make more appearances in AAA. I’d love to see him help get Chikara back up and running – he would be an awesome addition to fight the Titor Conglomeration

Dixie Carter makes Jim Herd the greatest Promoter alive.

Rise and fall? More like the fall and crawl

  • Scott Davies

I would like to know what Dixie was offering him. AJ has been the only reason to watch TNA. Not that TNA has nobody, but you cannot replace AJ Styles.

AJ styles is already booked for Preston City Wrestling in Preston, England on March 1st

I just wished hogan and Bischoff stayed the hell away from TNA. Hogan took way too much Tv time, there was always massive pushes which just suddenly stopped, they don’t know how to write for others, and they had no eye for talent.

AJ Styles was honestly the reason I started watching TNA in the first place after watching some of his matches on Youtube, I wanted to see more of him. His Fosbury Flop is still one of the most amazing yet dangerous moves I’ve ever seen. Its a shame that WWE has little interest in him but the way they operate lately, they don’t want viewers anyway.

  • _JIM_

Wow. I really thought that TNA would get a deal done with AJ. I find it hard to believe that they were unwilling to pay the biggest star and one of the best performers they’ve had during their 11 or 12 years. WWE needs to smarten up also. When somebody like AJ becomes a free agent they should be all over it. Without feeling that they have to start all over with training him. That’s just ridiculous.

Who else can people rally around? Sting? He’ll be gone soon.Aries? Little or No real crowd connection,The Cowboy? LOL. Hardy? Good but not great.

ok so ADR is now 36 yrs old same age as AJ. Hes only been around a few years and has held multi championships and main evented and been pushed down our throats. Why wouldn’t WWE take a chance on Styles is just plain stupid, bring him in right to the main roster..team him with Christian, and have them eventually fall out.. itcould work to expose AJ and give Christian something to do…just saying or even if RVD comes back…

    • Mysterion

Because, Jesus you haven’t been keeping up have you, WWE feel the need to start from scratch with Styles. And at 36 that’s not really a good idea. ADR was in developmental before his main roster debut. He didn’t just decide at 36 to give this WWE thing a go.

      • Jason Bagemehl

Yeah I been payin attention ..just think its bs excuse. My point was that ADR has only been there 4 YR. that’s not much difference in age..and really they have nothing to lose give him 1 yr deal and see where it goes

  • BIG M

Never thought the “phenomenally preachy one” AJ Styles would leave TNA.
He has no chance in WWE Id say he’s headed to Mexico or Japan.

  • Mysterion

No disrespect to AJ but why did it feel like he was trying to convert me to religion ?

  • spud

    please bring AJ to WWE
