Alberto Del Rio took part in a press conference in Mexico on Thursday to officially announce his intentions to appear at Triplemania XXII on Sunday. AAA President Joaquin Roldan was on hand and a few issues were discussed.
- Del Rio said his new home is AAA and that’s where he’ll be working in his immediate future. He won’t be able to work as Del Rio and instead will work as El Patron. This is a name Ricardo Rodriguez used to introduce him as his ring announcer in WWE.
- Del Rio’s non-compete clause attached to his WWE Performer’s Contract will not allow him to wrestle for at least 90 days. Del Rio played up he was trying to get his lawyers to get an injunction to allow him to compete on Sunday.
- Alberto said due to the legality of it, he couldn’t discuss his WWE release at this time but would address it in a couple of weeks.
- He was asked about Rey Mysterio being unhappy in WWE and possibly coming to AAA but it was stated that Mysterio was still under contract and they wouldn’t tamper with him while that was the case.
Triplemania XXII will take place Sunday at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. It will be available on traditional pay-per-view in Mexico but on iPPV internationally.
