900th Raw, Taker/Hart, Usos, Cruiserweights

Written by Richard Gray on Aug 31, 2010 - 12:05:12 PM

Are you surprised at the pathetic booking for the 900th episode of WWE Raw? I have been a fan for many years and this was a big deal for me. The booking for all the WWE events are beginning to be annoying and unwatchable. I was just wondering your thoughts.

There were some questionable creative calls on last night's edition of WWE Raw. Aside from the flaws I mentioned in Richard Reacts in my report, the biggest problem I had with the show was it didn't seem much different than a normal episode of Raw with Smackdown talent. There were some nostalgic things I liked but it didn't seem like the "big deal" celebration type show WWE is known to create. Usually I'll let a show without much wrestling slide if there is good filler, but last night's Raw didn't have much of either. Some people were expecting a big return but a lot of the names fans would like to see back in WWE are with TNA. It would have been a show-saver if they could have booked Dwayne Johnson or even Steve Austin but I think many readers need to stop holding them in their expectations. I absolutely hated how they made Daniel Bryan look like an enhancement talent and think what little work from the Divas we saw was terrible. I don't know if Melina's knee is still bothering her, but she looks very bad in the ring lately.

Are Bret Hart and The Undertaker friends?

Yes, Bret Hart and The Undertaker have always been good friends. Hart talks about his friendship with Undertaker in detail in his book.

Do you see The Usos capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship anytime soon? For rookies, I believe they have the in-ring ability and can cut promos very well.

Jey and Jimmy Uso are both very talented but it would be a mistake for WWE to put the WWE Tag Team Championship on them right now. They are not well-known enough by the WWE audience and need more time to develop. Both have bright futures but they need to be allowed time to develop.

With all of the new talent from WWE NXT seasons 1, 2 and 3 (shortly), do you think bringing back the Cruiserweight Championship would be a good idea?

We've had a couple readers send in questions asking if I think WWE should try and revamp the cruiserweight division with people such as Evan Bourne, Kaval and Justin Gabriel. I don't think it'd go over because of the way Vince McMahon pushes talent. WWE never had the cruiserweight division that WCW did despite having all the same talent because McMahon sees them as less marketable but there have been some obvious exceptions (Rey Mysterio). I do not think WWE needs another title and if they wanted to showcase a more fast-paced talent including Bourne, Kaval and Gabriel they should do it on either Raw or Smackdown with either the United States Championship or the Intercontinental Championship.

Remember questions with proper spelling and grammar receive top priority and stand the best chance of getting answered. The next installment of Ask WNW will run on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
