I must say your website is great! I check it every day and I really enjoy the "Richard Reacts" aspect of the site. My question is, do you think the WWE would benefit from creating seasons like all other major sports do? For example they would work for nine months and then take 3 months off? I feel that this would give time for the superstars to rest and get healthy and maybe bring back some talent that decided to leave because of the grueling schedule.
Thanks for the compliments! I think that an off-season for WWE would benefit the superstars because it would give everyone a chance to get healthy, however, it would be bad for business. Taking time off is going to lead to a lack of interest and an obvious lack of revenue. Furthermore it would open the door for competition, which is why there will probably never be an offseason for WWE. More shows equals more money and that is what it is all about. I agree that something should be done to protect the health of the superstars; however, I do not see anything changing anytime soon.
Is there a reason why we have not seen Mr. McMahon on any of the three brands since before WrestleMania?
There is no reason in particular other than they are giving the character a break from television. Vince McMahon is still backstage hard at work at all of the TV tapings, his on-screen character is just getting a break. This is necessary to keep things from getting dull.
How many people does it take to run a wrestling page such as this one? I was also curious as to the impact that your opinions as well as the opinions of your bloggers have on your popularity? Could the website function on opinions alone?
Wrestling News World is run by two people – me and my brother Ryan. We have four active bloggers that submit weekly pieces. Luke Parks, our head blog writer, is in charge of the site when Ryan and I are traveling. I feel that opinions have a place on the website and they are important in that it helps the site establish an identity, but the popularity of Wrestling News World relies on the news stories that we publish. Being a popular wrestling website means that there a lot of sites that copy and paste our material which is why we have features such as Ask WNW, The Blog Spot, Richard Reacts, etc. It is essential that we have as many unique sections as possible so it gives the reader more than one reason to visit us. My goal with Wrestling News World is to be a professional wrestling fan’s one-stop shop for all of their wrestling coverage. So to answer your question, no, the website could not function on opinions alone but it is certainly an added bonus to our fan base.
Who do you think that the main event picture will include in WWE in five years? Will Kennedy finally make it?
I would make the argument that MVP, Kennedy, and CM Punk will all be in the main event picture in WWE in five years. All three have a lot of potential and if booked right – they have a chance to be pretty big stars. There are also people like Kenny Dykstra, John Morrison (minus the Morrison gimmick), etc. that I see a tremendous amount of potential in. It all boils down to crowd reactions but WWE is notorious for building people up and developing new superstars. Some may argue that point but when you look at the current main event picture you can see what a good job that the company has done in taking people like Randy Orton, John Cena, and Edge and turning them into superstars.
