What is Awesome Kong’s background? Is she Asian or Black?
Awesome Kong is black and was actually born in the United States. The reason that she is billed from Japan is because that is where she got her start in professional wrestling and actually made a name for herself in the industry.
I have a question concerning SmackDown. Now I know that SmackDown is moving to MyNetworkTV this fall but it needs to be more like RAW and ECW. So my question is how and why does SmackDown only get a TV PG rating than a TV 14 rating like RAW and ECW? Does Vince want SmackDown to have a kick?
You have to understand that WWE has built distinctive brand identities for each of their brands and they appeal to different demographics. SmackDown’s demographic features a lot more children than Raw, therefore, SmackDown’s programming is built towards that audience. WWE does not want to make all brands alike or it would pointless to have different shows with different storylines, personalities, and concepts. Vince McMahon took out all of his competition so he created his own competition by the development of three brands. From a financial standpoint, things have never been better in WWE. It should also be noted that SmackDown airs on network television, not cable like Raw and ECW.
I believe ECW has great talent and is a better product than some give credit for and one of the main reasons I believe that is because of the rise of the talented Kofi Kingston. Now this may be too early in his career, but do you see him getting a title shot for the ECW Championship at Wrestlemania and possibly winning it?
It’s way too early for Kofi Kingston to get a run as the ECW Champion. From my perspective, Kingston has talent but I (along with some people in WWE) have been concerned about his lack of crowd reaction. They tried something different with him this week, putting him with Kelly Kelly in an inter-gender tag match, but they have to make sure he is going to get over before they even think about giving him the title. To the best of my knowledge WWE plans on doing something with Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk at WrestleMania for the ECW Championship.
I am very upset that WWE has all these titles but the only one's getting defended are the WWE, World Championship and ECW. I enjoyed seeing all titles defended on each pay per view like in the old days. What's the point in having them if they are not being defended? It makes matches more interesting. You have the IC, U.S., WWE Tag Team, World Tag Team, Cruiserweight all sitting around someone's waste (except the cruiserweight) doing nothing. The IC is not even being defended at WrestleMania (AGAIN!). What's your opinion on this?
I’ve went back and forth on this. On one hand the Intercontinental Championship is not getting defended, but on the other hand if it was getting defended, Jeff Hardy would not be in the WWE Championship hunt. Personally I think that there are too many titles in WWE. I wouldn’t be against cutting the US Title and either the WWE or World Tag Team belts. The way I look at it now is that the ECW Championship is used more as a secondary title with the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship being for the elite.
