Bob Barker, Hardy's Future, Retiring, The Miz

Written by Richard Gray on Sep 3, 2009 - 11:11:33 AM

Richard, what is your opinion of iconic game show host Bob Barker hosting the next episode of Raw?

I'm looking forward to it. Bob Barker is obviously very comfortable on television and it should make for an entertaining night. I would look for the show to have a game show theme, possibly with Raw Roulette as Vince McMahon is high up on the concept. Barker is 85 years old so I hope they don't try and do anything crazy with him bumping in the ring.

Jeff Hardy is taking some months off but how long do you feel he will be gone; do you think he will be back for WrestleMania or is it more like over a year?

There is no timetable for Jeff Hardy's return. The feeling is he'll take several months off, possibly up to a year before even entertaining the thought of a comeback. Hardy is working on some other projects including a reality show that reportedly just got a TV deal with FOX 21 Studios. I don't think he'll be back for WrestleMania but anything is possible in this business.

What age do you think is a good age to retire from the ring? You hear horror stories about wrestlers retiring young because of serious injuries and disabilities but on the other hand you have guys like Ric Flair who go on into their late 50's.

I don't think there is a "good age" to retire. As long as a worker is healthy and can still go, I have no problem with them going into their 50's. Sting has proved he's got some fuel left in the tank and while I don't agree with him burying TNA's younger workers, I have no problem with him continuing to work. When a worker becomes too beaten up to work and is putting their long-term health in jeopardy it is probably time to hang it up.

Why would The Miz's reality TV background keep him from main eventing? Is WWE that shallow to accept the fact that he was successful somewhere else?

There is no set precedent that The Miz will not reach main event status; however, there are people that feel Vince McMahon will never make The Miz a big star because he gained fame outside of WWE. Vince McMahon has a big ego and wants to give the impression "he makes the worker" not "the worker makes WWE". With that being said, anything is still possible.

 DID YOU KNOW?
When Shawn Michaels was attacked outside of a Syracuse nightclub by approximately 10 thugs (actually it was by a marine group), Shawn was accompanied by Davey Boy Smith and X-Pac. They beat up Shawn while the others held Davey Boy and X-Pac back.
