Burke's Future, Why Lashley Left, Power Backstage, More

Written by Richard Gray on May 9, 2008 - 10:38:37 AM

First off I want to give mad props to this website. I think Elijah Burke is a good wrestler. What does the WWE plan to do with him? I think he should be making a title run. Can you guys shed some insight?

Thanks for the compliments on the site! Elijah Burke is a good wrestler and from what I have heard most people in WWE agree. However, he is a work-in-progress and the company does not feel that he is ready for a huge main event level push. One day I think that Burke will make a title run, although I think it is far too soon for that to happen right now. Burke needs to stay focused and keep doing what he is doing because WWE management notices and he will be rewarded.

Now that Bobby Lashley is now officially done with WWE, I was wondering if it the disagreement between him and WWE was ever explained? What happened?

There are several rumors of why Bobby Lashley chose not to return to WWE. One of the rumors was that he was unhappy with the way that the company treated his girlfriend Kristal Marshall (she refused to do an angle as Edge’s girlfriend and was buried then released) and others say that he was unhappy with some of the people that he was working for. Lashley told Ryan back in January, "Some people are just impossible to work for" although he would not clarify who he was referring too. This is the first week that Lashley has been able to talk so it’ll be interesting what he says in interviews.

Who are the ones who hold a significant amount of political power backstage in WWE (excluding all the McMahons and Triple H)? Please give us some examples of wrestlers / other on-screen talent / off-screen staff and why. Thanks!

I get this question a lot but the answer is rather obvious. The people with the most political stroke in WWE are the main event caliber performers. Obviously people like Edge, John Cena, The Undertaker, and Batista are going to have more power than Brian Kendrick, Super Crazy, Jamie Noble, and Trevor Murdoch. There is really no mystery to it. There are people like JBL who are good friends with Vince McMahon and have some stroke but ultimately the bigger draw a superstar is the more political power that they possess. Everyone also needs to understand that at the end of the day, all decisions have to go through the McMahons.

Hey Richard. With the WWE Night Of Champions PPV coming up in June, do you think that WWE management put the ECW belt on Kane to present a more "convincing" ECW champion for a all champions 3-way main event match? Also, do you think that WWE might use this as an opportunity to unify the ECW title and the Smackdown World title? Thanks.

As reported earlier on WNW Premium, there is talk of doing a WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight Champion vs. ECW Champion match at Night Of Champions next month. As for why WWE put the ECW Championship on Kane, the feeling was that Kane is a dedicated veteran that could help some of the younger superstars while giving ECW some marketability. No one in WWE really looked at Chavo Guerrero as a World Champion. WWE will not unify the ECW Championship or World Heavyweight Championship anytime in the near future.
