Cena vs. Sheamus, Highest Rating, Mistakes, WWE/UFC

Written by Richard Gray on Dec 16, 2009 - 11:23:50 AM

I've watched the ending to John Cena-Sheamus at WWE TLC a few times now, and I noticed that when Sheamus fell off the top turnbuckle, there was a table on its side next to him. Do you think Sheamus and John Cena were supposed to simultaneously go through tables thus ending the match in a draw?

No, the plan was for Sheamus to beat John Cena and win the WWE Championship. Company officials just kept it more quiet than usual to pull off the swerve finish.

What is the highest rated episode ever for Monday Night Raw?

WWE Monday Night Raw is War scored its highest rating ever on May 10, 1999 when the show did an 8.1 cable rating. That show was headlined by Undertaker, Triple H, and Shane McMahon taking on Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and Vince McMahon with Shawn Michaels as the guest referee in a six man tag team match. Ratings over the years have ranged from the lower 2s all the way up the 8.1 I talked about, with the ratings being in the 5s and 6s during WWE's most popular days back in 1999. Recent years the show has done in the 3s with an occasional 4.

Why is it that commentators such as Michael Cole and Matt Striker make such horribly wrong quotes as frequently as they seem to? I mean doesn't the WWE have fact checkers for these situations? Or are these quotes just said on the fly so that the person saying them can sound smart?

I agree Michael Cole makes too many mistakes. Everyone is human but Cole gets it wrong time and time again to the point where he becomes a major annoyance. With that being said, I think the announcers should come better prepared when they are going to mention facts, rather than miss-stating them. I think it comes down to better preparation.

With UFC moving their PPB to the night before Wrestlemania, will WWE consider moving Wrestlemania up or back a week or leave it as is?

UFC moved their pay-per-view from the March 13, 2010 date because that is the proposed date for Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather. WWE will not, under any circumstances, change the date of Wrestlemania.
