Cena/WWE Title, Hardy vs. MVP, TNA Deuces Wild, Adamle

Written by Richard Gray on Apr 30, 2008 - 1:39:41 PM

My question is why is John Cena not being given the opportunity to regain the WWE Title?

I am under the impression that WWE has taken John Cena out of the mix to finish filming 12 Rounds in New Orleans. They could always add him to the match in the coming weeks but it looks like they may do something between him and JBL at Judgment Day. When I hear something - I'll post an update.

Hey Richard, great job on the site! I think it was an extremely stupid move by WWE to have MVP drop the US Title at Backlash with MVP's gimmick being that he is "better than everyone" and with that being the first US Title defense on pay-per-view in a long time. What do you think?

Thanks for the compliments and kind words! The actual planned finish for the MVP vs. Matt Hardy match at Backlash was for MVP to retain with a dirty finish; however, apparently Vince McMahon is on this kick of having clean finishes. With that being said, I agree with you in that it would have been better to hold off on the title change but I guess they did not want to put Antonio over clean. Hardy puts the title on the line again this week against MVP on SmackDown.

How does the TNA Deuces Wild tag tournament work, can you explain it?

Trust me, I am as confused as you are but I will try to do the best that I can. The tournament started with eight tag teams in four qualifying matches on Impact for a place in the main tournament. So far, these spots were won by Team 3D and Christian Cage & Rhino on last week's edition of Impact. This week's edition of Impact will feature two more teams qualifying; however, to keep from spoiling anything I am not going to post the names of the teams that qualified. There will then be eight more participants announced for the tournament tomorrow on Impact. The following week on Impact, Jim Cornette will blindly pair four of the participants named this week into tag teams. I am guessing that the remaining four wrestlers will be teamed together at the Sacrifice pay-per-view. Once the tournament is finally set they will compete at Sacrifice to crown the new TNA Tag Team Champions.

Was Mike Adamle working when he got up and walked away from the announcer's table before the main event on last night's edition of ECW on Sci-Fi?

Yes it was a work. I posted a full update at this link.
