Cheech & Chong, HBK vs. Taker, TNA, DX Breakup
Written by Richard Gray on Jan 25, 2010 - 11:19:36 AM
Cheech and Chong... How many people in the WWE PG audience have NO clue who they are ? Have we finally arrived at the end of the guest host gimmick?
You make a great point and there is a good chance most of WWE's audience has no idea of the duo as their fame was in the 70s and 80s. With that being said I think March 1st will be yet another week of bad guest hosts on WWE Raw. As much as I think the guest host gimmick has run its course, there are plans for it to run at least through Wrestlemania.
In your honest opinion, could you see Shawn Michaels winning the Royal Rumble and challenging The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight title, provided Taker beats Mysterio?
There is talk of doing The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania again this year. As for whether or not the title will be on line, I haven't heard so I do not want to speculate. If Undertaker does retain, it would not be out of the question for Michaels to win the Rumble. This year's 30-Man match is stacked with top tier talent and I would be surprised if they used it to build a younger worker.
I don't watch TNA, however, I turned it on to see what all the fuss is about with Hulk Hogan taking over. I haven't seen so many WWE rejects in all my life. What's your opinion about the direction TNA are heading?
I wouldn't call the names TNA is featuring "WWE rejects" as much as I would call them "WWE Legends way past their prime". There was a time when Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, etc. were major stars in this business (15 years ago), but this is 2010 and they should focus on the younger workers. However, as I've mentioned before, people are watching and are interested in TNA. Unless that changes, Hogan is going to continue to push his friends.
What are the chances that DeGeneration X will break up?
The chances are very good that DeGeneration X is coming to an end yet again. The DX gimmick is played out and both Triple H and Shawn Michaels are expected to be in singles matches at Wrestlemania. I have not been a fun of the latest run of DX as it doesn't have the same draw to it with WWE's PG programming.
