Hey guys. Thanks for the great work --- I'm enjoying my premium subscription very much. My question(s): I remember reading about how Vince wasn't very high on Punk because of the whole "string bean" issue. With Punk winning the money in the bank --- do you think he'll be the first one to cash it in and lose? Do you think Punk has earned a title run with one of the main belts? Why?
I’m glad that you are enjoying your Premium subscription, we are very happy to serve you! Do not pay much attention to reports that WWE management is not high up on CM Punk. Punk is over with the right people in WWE and is in for a push in the company. Reports indicating that there is backstage heat on Punk stem from people that have hidden agendas against him. From what I understand WWE creative is still working on the angle that will involve Punk "cashing in" his title shot and until they do, he will be featured on all three brands. I heard original plans were for Punk to use his title shot for the WWE Championship, however, those could change at any time. I think that Punk is an up-and-coming superstar in the company and has a bright future.
Fantastic site guys! I see many readers and writers criticize the ECW brand/title etc, especially how it was portrayed at WrestleMania. My question to you is this; If YOU were Head of Creative for ECW - what would YOU do to turn the brand into a respected and enjoyable one to watch? (sorry to put you on the spot!)
Thanks for the compliment on the site! I do not have a big issue with how WWE utilizes the ECW brand. I understand that it is more of a glorified developmental territory that gives wrestlers a chance to perform on television that otherwise would be jobbed out on Raw or SmackDown. However, I have an issue with how they booked the ECW Championship at WrestleMania. Rather than have Kane squash Chavo Guerrero at WrestleMania I would have booked some type of dirty finish where Chavo retained which would lead to a feud between the two with Kane eventually prevailing. With the way they booked it I doubt anyone is looking forward to their rematch at Backlash. I would not try and change ECW to become more like Raw or SmackDown as I feel the brand is necessary to build superstars.
What are your favorite WWE DVDs? I was wondering if there are any other good DVDs I should think about buying?
I do not buy a ton of WWE DVDs, however, my two favorites would be the DVD set the company did for Bret Hart and the Monday Night War DVD. The Bret Hart DVD featured some very honest commentary from Hart as well as some stellar matches (including Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13). The Monday Night War DVD was interesting because I got to experience the WCW vs. WWF war back in the nineties and it was a fun look back with commentary from both sides. I have heard good things about the new Triple H DVD and have thought about checking it out.
I read a few articles this past week where reporters were asking former talent about Wrestlemania, many said they would not be getting the PPV. What’s your opinion of former talent not supporting the current talent and buying the PPVs or do you think they just don’t want to give money to
Vince?
I think that former talent is entitled to do whatever they want. I do not believe everything said in media interviews as there is a pretty good chance that despite some former names saying that they were not going to order the pay-per-view that they still did. However, I do not think that former talent is obligated to do anything. Trust me Vince McMahon is making enough money and he isn’t going to miss 20-30 pay-per-view buys.
