Consequences Creed, Umaga vs. Kennedy, Worker Input

Written by Richard Gray on Jul 7, 2009 - 11:53:22 AM

My question is about TNA star Consequences Creed. What are your thoughts on him? Do you think he is a future main eventer?

I think Consequences Creed has a good look and is a very talented in-ring worker. Given TNA's track record of not pushing anyone other than workers that established themselves at least a decade ago, I wouldn't hold my breath as for him working in the main event. TNA has a very talented roster full of people like Creed that I feel could make a big impact if creative would give them a chance to work in the top of the card.

Umaga vs. Kennedy is scheduled for a WWC show on July 11, but my question is how can they do this with both of them having 90-day non-compete clauses?

As I reported here yesterday, Kennedy wrote on his Twitter page he got permission from WWE officials to work the match. I was told Umaga didn't have a 90-day non-compete clause attached to his WWE contract.

What are your favorite finishers?

My favorite submission maneuver of all-time is probably the Sharpshooter. Today I like CM Punk's GTS, Evan Bourne's Shooting Star Press, Undertaker's Hell's Gate, and Jeff Hardy's Swanton Bomb. The Tombstone has always been a favorite of mine as well.

How much do WWE Superstars have a say in whether or not they're heel or babyface?

WWE workers have the right to offer ideas but at the end of the day, they are told what to do by WWE officials. Everything is based on crowd reactions but the WWE creative team comes up with plans for a particular worker and they are carried out. Plans are changed and adjusted based on crowd reactions.

How much choice do WWE wrestlers have when it comes to their ring attire? I know they fill the role of characters written for them but do they decide to wear trunks, tights, pants, etc.? Or even elbow and knee pads?

Workers have more input when it comes to specifically what they wear and usually work with the company seamstress to come up with something that works. Like you noted, company officials will tell them what they are to accomplish with their characters and then they have some more input with how to pull it off. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a stringent approval process but if a worker messes something up, they will hear about it. Kevin Fertig (a/k/a Kevin Thorn) recently stated in an interview with SLAM! Wrestling he got heat from Johnny Ace for wearing black when Vince McMahon told him to do so.
