ECW Title, Jarrett/WWE, Jeff Hardy, McIntyre & Escobar

Written by Richard Gray on Oct 19, 2009 - 10:28:01 AM

With ECW now being pretty much a non-entity for heavyweights (no representation at the last two pay-per-views), do you ever see the show transforming into a cruiserweight show that would see the return of the Cruiserweight division?

I do not look for WWE to resurrect the Cruiserweight division. Vince McMahon has never been high up on pushing the smaller workers because he does not see them as marketable as the big guys. The ECW Championship is pretty much a secondary belt like the Intercontinental Championship used to be. I do not look for it to be anymore than it currently is.

Do you think that if Jeff Jarrett quit TNA he would go to WWE? Do you think WWE would take him?

I do not see Jeff Jarrett ever returning to WWE. Jarrett still owns 25% of TNA Wrestling and he doesn't have a good reputation with upper management in WWE. They took big jabs at Jarrett in The Rise & Fall of WCW package.

Will Jeff Hardy be allowed to come back to WWE since his latest arrest?

This will be unknown until it is determined if Jeff Hardy will stand trial on the charges brought against him and if he is convicted. Right now, WWE is going to stay away from Jeff Hardy until the situation is resolved; however, an individual is innocent until proven guilty. If Hardy somehow gets off, I think he would be welcomed back. If he does not, I think we have seen the last of Jeff Hardy in WWE and he could be going to prison.

Can you please explain why WWE creative decided to put two, frankly unimpressive, newcomers Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar into a high-profile PPV match for Team SmackDown instead of the already very over Matt Hardy and R-Truth? Business-wise, this decision makes no sense.

WWE is trying to build up Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar as upcoming superstars. Matt Hardy is being told he hasn't been given a program to work off ring rust but in I'm told he's not getting pushed because of Jeff's legal situation. However, WWE is trying to make two new superstars in McIntyre and Escobar.
