Evan Bourne, MVP A Main Eventer, Triple H Off Raw, JBL
Written by Richard Gray on Jul 10, 2008 - 3:39:26 PM
I really like watching Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne). I think he's a great wrestler and has a lot of potential. What are your thoughts of him?
I think that Evan Bourne is an outstanding wrestler. He is agile in the ring and has great high-flying ability. I would like to see him get a serious push in the company; however, Vince McMahon has a reputation of being reluctant to push smaller guys. Nonetheless they have let Bourne use the 450 splash so we’ll see what happens. I have been a fan of Matt Sydal since his days in Ring of Honor so I knew that he was going to be special when he finally got called up to the main WWE roster.
Do you see MVP being pushed to main event status in the near future or even at all?
I think that MVP has a very bright future in WWE and I could see him being elevated to main event status before the end of the year. MVP is in his 30s so the time is now if he is going to make a big impact in the business but I am very optimistic regarding his future.
With the recent rise in the Raw ratings the past two weeks, is it possible that Triple H's absence from the show could have affected the ratings spike?
Anything is possible but I think that it’s highly that the Raw rating has been up because Triple H has been off the show. While no one knows for sure why the ratings have came up - I attribute it to a lack of competition as well as interest drawn from the draft. We'll see if the ratings can hold up as Raw moves forward but this time of year with the lack of competition I would expect higher numbers.
The past couple weeks on Raw we've seen JBL on the mic a lot, trying to throw some power around. I've read reports recently that his back is still really bothering him, do you think they're trying to throw JBL into the role of Raw GM?
That’s a good possibility but from what I have heard he is going to remain a top heel superstar on the brand. If he is unable to continue to work because of back problems and other nagging pains then I hope that he returns as a color commentator. JBL was really getting good before he quit.
