Extreme Rules, WWE Belts, HBK, Denver Debacle
Written by Richard Gray on May 21, 2009 - 11:41:43 AM
Am I the only one that is slightly annoyed that WWE is rehashing the previous PPV next month only with stipulations this time? What are your thoughts?
This is just how WWE handles this particular pay-per-view. They do it to create a prolonged build for post-WrestleMania feuds. The original concept of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view was to bring ECW back for "one night only." After WWE officially brought back ECW they changed the format to the pay-per-view where they used feuds from the previous pay-per-view and added stipulations to them. I agree with you in that it is annoying, paying for basically the same matches again, and feel WWE could really scrap the pay-per-view all together.
Do champions take their belts home with them after a show or do they hand them to company officials for safe keeping?
There are two sets of belts in WWE. One set is used for the workers to travel with for appearances and house shows. The other set of belts are referred to as the "HD belts" and they are used for television. These belts are kept by WWE officials.
I heard there was going to be a DX Invasion Tour in France in November. I also heard that Shawn Michaels might be out until late this year or early next year. Do you think HBK will return in time for the DX tour or has that plan been scrapped?
The last word I got on Shawn Michaels was he was going to be back in the middle of the summer. As for the DX Invasion Tour I'm not sure if they plan to reunite the faction or are just calling the tour that as a marketing vehicle.
Having watched Vince McMahon comment about Stan Kroenke on ESPN it reminded me of the long gone 'Attitude Era' and stirred up some excitement. Do you feel that the Denver Debacle could work in WWE's favor?
Vince McMahon is the best promoter in the world and has taken a disastrous situation and turned it into a lot of mainstream media attention. I do think the Denver Debacle has turned out to be a good thing for WWE. All of the sudden the company is getting attention from places where they are usually ignored. McMahon has a lot of detractors but there is no doubting his ability to successfully market his product.

When Shawn Michaels was attacked outside of a Syracuse nightclub by approximately 10 thugs (actually it was by a marine group), Shawn was accompanied by Davey Boy Smith and X-Pac. They beat up Shawn while the others held Davey Boy and X-Pac back.
