Hart vs. Hogan, Timbaland, HBK & Bret, Screwjob
Written by Richard Gray on Dec 30, 2009 - 12:07:04 PM
With Bret Hart being announced for the January 4th Raw, TNA obviously has a huge uphill battle to compete with a decent worried. However, do you think with WWE pulling "the Bret Hart card" that it shows they are worried about Hulk Hogan being more relevant than Hart ever was?
WWE has been in negotiations with Bret Hart since October, but it worked out where they were able to agree to a contract and bring him back on the night where TNA has a loaded show with the Impact debut of Hulk Hogan. It shows WWE sees what TNA and Hogan are trying to accomplish. I've always liked Hart better than Hogan but Hogan is more recognizable than Hart. Love him or hate him, Hulk Hogan changed the wrestling business forever in the 80s and continued in the 90s with how he elevated WCW. January 4th is going to be very interesting and I'll be watching both shows at the same time!
My question is about Timbaland. Is it just me or was he the worst host ever? He looked like he was drunk or high. What's your take on it?
I wasn't a huge fan but I heard there were others that thought he was intoxicated in some form or another.
What are your thoughts on the Bret Hart/Raw/Shawn Michaels situation? Is Shawn Michaels really okay with the whole situation? I've never heard him come out and say he was legitimately sorry for everything that happened.
Shawn Michaels is probably more OK with Bret than Bret is with Shawn. Bret Hart has made it clear he hasn't forgiven Shawn Michaels and he cannot stand Triple H. As I've stated on numerous occasions, it's going to be very interesting if Hart is able to fulfill the duration of his contract given his rocky past with those in WWE.
What was the whole reason behind the Montreal Screwjob?
Bret Hart was to retain the WWE Championship in a match against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997. Hart was headed to WCW, but agreed with Vince McMahon to win clean against Michaels and relinquish the title the next night on Raw. Bret felt his loyalty to WWE had earned him the right to vacate the belt under his own terms. Vince McMahon got with referee Earl Hebner and Shawn Michaels prior to the match and told Shawn to pin Hart and for Hebner to make the three count and change the title. They executed it and Bret Hart was livid. He spit in Vince McMahon's face at ringside and later punched him in the face backstage. I have mixed emotions about the Screwjob. On one hand I understand Bret earned the respect to vacate the title on his own terms, but on the other hand how it would it look for Hart to pin Michaels to retain the title then bolt to WCW? WWE was fighting for their lives and it was a business decision.
