JBL Shoots?, ECW One Night Stand, TNA's Schedule, HBK

Written by Richard Gray on May 28, 2008 - 10:59:02 AM

On the last edition of Raw, JBL made a reference to escort services. Was this some kind of shot towards WWE Diva Ashley?

That is what it sounded like to me. JBL is WWE's "outrageous comment" guy as he as always done this and probably can get away with it more than most people. I would say that the line was probably scripted but it certainly sounded like JBL was hinting at the Ashley/Bella Models scandal. However, I doubt casual fans (that do not read the Internet) understood the shot.

I understand that all WWE pay-per-views are tri-branded, but my question is do you think that the One Night Stand pay-per- view should reflect solely on the original ECW like the first two One Night Stands?

Absolutely not! The original concept of ECW One Night Stand I believe was Rob Van Dam's idea because of how popular that ECW was several years ago. The idea was to bring back the promotion for one night with a bunch of ECW Originals to work on a one show deal and create a nostalgic event that would sell well. The event did so well that it gave Vince McMahon the idea to create a third brand and market it under the ECW name. McMahon's version of ECW is more like Sunday Night Heat, not the ECW that so many remember and loved. A lot of people are angry at what McMahon has turned ECW into but it was never intended to be like the original promotion but a "C level" brand where the company could develop talent on-camera.

I was just wondering if you think TNA should go to a schedule like the WWE to get more exposure? It seems like they only tape Impact in Florida and rarely do any programs outside of Florida. I think they would bring in higher ratings if they do live events like WWE and travel more. And by the way I love my premium access, you guys rock!

No, TNA is not popular enough to begin taping TVs around the United States like WWE does. The company is slowly expanding outside of Orlando by holding more pay-per-views out of the city as well as starting to run live events. TNA actually got the idea of taping TVs in Orlando from WCW because it is more cost effective to remain in one area. Also they do not have to worry about small crowds because fans get in free and with the Impact Zone being in Orlando, Florida it gives tourists an attraction to go too (not to mention that the Sound Stage that Impact is taped on is a very small venue). TNA is not ready to undertake the treacherous schedule of WWE.

Do you see Shawn Michaels getting one more WWE Championship or World Championship run before he retires?

Honestly I do not think that Shawn's body could hold up through another title run. His body is beat up and his knees are in terrible shape. If it were to happen at all I would think that it would be with the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown unless some drastic roster changes are made in the upcoming draft.
