First off, I love the site because it gives the diehard wrestling fans all the info you can get, and the columns and blogs are very informative (especially the PPV preview columns). My question is how long do you see Samoa Joe holding the TNA world title? I think he'll lose at Slammiversary in King of The Mountain what do you think?
Thanks for the kind words! TNA has been grooming Samoa Joe for a title run for several months, there have been plans to put the title on him for over two years, I do not think that his run is going to last less than two months. Slammiversary is June 8th so if he were to lose there that would mean that he would only have had one successful title defense in what is believed to be against Scott Steiner next month at Sacrifice. I just don't see it happening. TNA has invested a lot into Samoa Joe and they have built him as one of the company's top guys. It would be a huge mistake for this title reign to be a short watered down run.
My question concerns Chris Jericho. After the confrontation with HBK on Raw, and his subsequent usage of the ropes to win against Umaga, is this the start of a Jericho heel turn?
Honestly I do not know. I was told that there were plans on turning Shawn Michaels heel during the program, however, it was clear last night that Batista and Jericho were the heels. This is one of those things where we are going to have to wait and see because obviously the company is going off crowd reactions to determine who works as heel and who works as babyface. The company has been known to start a feud with one person working the heel only to switch it before in concludes (example: Mayweather/Big Show). We should know more on his character direction as Backlash draws closer.
At WrestleMania XXIV WWE had Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair in a career threatening match which was one of the big moments in wrestling history, then at TNA Lockdown they had Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle in the same type of match. My question is do you think TNA was trying to get the same reaction and hype from the fans?
It was not at all the same type of match. Yes TNA used the retirement stipulation but it was done by Samoa Joe himself to provide him extra motivation to fulfill his dream. The entire basis of the stipulation was added differently. For once I do not think that this had anything to do with what WWE was doing. TNA did a great job of building Joe vs. Angle and they wanted to make the match as must-see as possible.
When do think would be the most appropriate time for CM Punk to get his title shot that he won in the Money in the Bank ladder match?
I think that WWE creative should book him to get the shot once he switches brands, presumably to Raw. It would be a waste to give him a shot at the ECW Championship and they need to do it when the time is right. Punk is a future superstar in WWE so they do not need to rush it. To answer your question I do not think that WWE should do it anytime soon and should rather capitalize on the fact that he has a Championship shot that he can use at anytime in the next year.
