Kofi's Future, HHH vs. HBK, Screwjob, Lesnar, Sheamus
Written by Richard Gray on Oct 27, 2009 - 10:57:35 AM
It looks like Kofi Kingston has been getting a bit of a gimmick change. Do you think that, combined with his apparent angle with Orton, is the change he needs to get main event pushes?
I'm just glad WWE creative has finally listened to something I had to say. Whether or not they got it from me, I've been preaching for years how Kofi Kingston has all the tools to be a main event talent but would never be able to get over with the phony Jamaican gimmick. The company has transitioned his gimmick slowly, first changing where he's billed from and now having him lose the accent. After a win against Chris Jericho, it looks like he'll get a program with Randy Orton at Survivor Series which is sure to propel him to the next level. I'm looking forward to Kofi working in the top of the card on Raw.
Are there plans for Triple H to turn heel and attack Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series when they fight for WWE Championship?
This is going to be the speculation leading up the pay-per-view. I felt like the DX angle would once again be short-lived but there are a lot of rumors about doing Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels, with a Triple H heel turn.
A while back I remember you reporting on the WWE basically phasing out the characterization of the refs, like the announcers not mentioning them by name or what not. So why has Scott Armstrong been a major part of the Undertaker/Punk/Long storyline?
There was an exception made to recreate the screwjob angle with CM Punk vs. The Undertaker. They were playing of the real-life 1997 Screwjob involving Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and referee Earl Hebner.
I saw that you have been keeping us fans (more or less) posted on Brock Lesnar's post-wrestling career -- including the cancellation of his recent fight. I was just wondering if you followed the UFC at all, or if you only follow Lesnar's career? I know certain MMA superstars have, in the past, been involved in the world of pro wrestling.
I am a casual MMA fan, not an insider like I am with professional wrestling. A lot of our readers like to know what Brock Lesnar is up too, which is why we cover some news tidbits regarding his career. Lesnar's fights are the ones I always order because I am intrigued about his post-WWE success.
Why was Sheamus moved to Raw?
I haven't heard for sure but I feel like it is because Triple H recently put him over to company officials and made his thoughts public in an interview with Powerslam Magazine. When Hunter gets behind a particular worker, they are going to be elevated. Triple H sits in on every WWE creative team meeting and has a large amount of influence in the company. With Shane McMahon stepping down at the beginning of next year, it's going to be Hunter and Stephanie's company when Vince retires.
