Live Impact, TNA Ownership, Name Changes, Big Show

Written by Richard Gray on Jan 17, 2011 - 10:09:09 AM

Will the February 3rd Impact be a live show or air from tape?

TNA Wrestling will tape the February 3rd edition of Impact on Monday, January 31st from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The next live Impact is scheduled for Thursday, February 24, 2011 from the Crown Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

If Jeff Jarrett is the founder of TNA and Dixie Carter is the president, who actually owns TNA?

75% of TNA Wrestling is owned by Panda Energy which is the family of Dixie Carter. They appointed her the President of TNA to oversee the day-to-day operations. Jeff Jarrett is still a minority owner, owning part or all of the other 25%. Jeff and his father Jerry founded TNA but had to sell it to a larger financial backer to keep it going.

Why does TNA change names like Elijah Burke and Mr. Kennedy but not Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, etc?

WWE owns the rights to Mr. Kennedy so TNA changed it to his real name, Mr. Anderson. Elijah Burke is his real name but TNA wanted to package him in "The Pope" gimmick. Burke was never a big star in WWE like Jeff Hardy so they didn't feel the need to bring him in under his real name. Rob Van Dam owns the rights to his name and likeliness and was at one point WWE Champion so of course TNA wanted him to use the name. It all comes down to the situation that determines what name a performer uses with it all starting out with who owns the rights to the name.

Why does WWE not give Big Show a title reign? He's big, marketable, a good face, and a great worker. What are your thoughts?

I've always said Big Show is a good worker given the limitations from his size. His move set is limited but it's going to be given his extraordinary size. He's been champion before but right now all I can say is WWE doesn't see right now as the time to put him over as champion. In this business timing and opportunity means a lot and neither has been right for Show. With that being said he is still a main event worker that WWE is confident in.
