London/Kendrick, TNA vs. WWE, Spinner Belt, Lashley

Written by Richard Gray on Jul 7, 2008 - 10:02:55 AM

My question is regarding Brian Kendrick and Paul London. Now that they are on separate brands, what do you think the WWE has in store for their future? Do you think they will be singles competitors or will they be paired with new partners?

I think that the plan right now is to give Kendrick and London runs as singles workers. I know that I have mentioned this before but I have been told for months that WWE has big plans for both of them but I find that hard to believe. London has been jobbing to Lance Cade on Raw house shows lately.

Do you ever see or think TNA can bet the dominate WWE? In regards to ratings, profit, fan support, etc.

In this business I never like to say never but it would be extremely difficult for TNA to compete with WWE in any capacity. WWE has become so big that they have monopolized the industry based on international distribution, fan support, and brand recognition and as a publicly traded company they are a corporate giant. Nonetheless TNA has strong financial backing in Panda Energy and I feel that they have a very solid roster of talent but they are a long ways away from challenging WWE. Some people think that TNA is only one big angle away but I am not as optimistic.

I am interested to know your thoughts on the current design of the WWE Championship. Personally, I hate the current 'spinner' design and I can’t wait for them to revert back (if they ever do) to a normal belt. My personal favourite was the 'Attitude Era' belt. Do you ever see WWE re-designing the belt anytime soon?

I will agree that the spinner belt has gotten a bit stale but Vince McMahon is not going to change it as long as it is selling well. I have been told that the belt is one of the company’s top money makers in merchandise sales which is why the design has not been changed. Both Randy Orton and Hunter have been on McMahon to change the belt.

Hey Richard. WNW is my favorite wrestling web site in the whole world. Do you have any news on Lashley's motives regarding wrestling?

Thank you for the kind words! My personal opinion on Bobby Lashley is that he is keeping his name recognizable in pro wrestling by working various independent dates while looking for something else to do. Lashley reminds me a lot of Bill Goldberg or Brock Lesnar in that pro wrestling really isn't in his blood but it is something that keeps him famous. It’s hard to stay dedicated to this business when you do not eat, sleep, and breathe pro wrestling.
