I love this website and I go on everyday to check for news. I saw a question a few months ago on Ask WNW regarding the highest rating WWE has ever had which was 8.4. But why is all the WWE and TNA programs rating so low these days? The highest lately was a 4.1 by the Raw special.
Thanks for the compliment on the site, we appreciate your support! The reason for the drop in ratings is the lack of interest industry-wide in professional wrestling. This is an industry which has seen plenty of ups and downs and while things certainly aren't as good as they were back in the late 90s, they are not as bad as they have been. WWE is making record profits by diversifying their business and relying on things such as licensing and merchandise revenues instead of completely on television ratings and house show gates. I think one thing that would greatly increase the ratings would be some competition to WWE. TNA is drawing decent ratings but they are a long ways away from competing with WWE. More competition brings better storylines which brings a bigger audience (remember the NWO?).
What did you think about the team of Randy Orton and John Cena on Monday night?
I thought that they worked well together, but I pretty much expected it. WWE is trying to make Orton and Cena look as powerful as possible going into the WrestleMania main event. A lot of people are complaining about the current booking in WWE with all of the squash matches but WWE creative is playing it safe as they don't want anyone looking inferior before WrestleMania.
Is Brian Kendrick going to become heel after walking out on Paul London?
There is definitely more to Kendrick walking out on London and I hope to have some kind of update on this later this week. One well-placed WWE source has been telling me for weeks that there are big plans for Brian Kendrick; however, I'm reluctant to believe it because of WWE's reputation of under utilizing the smaller guys unless your name is Rey Mysterio. We'll see if anything amounts to it, but I am told that there are bigger plans for Kendrick.
I've noticed that James Curtis has been in a lot of matches. What's his status with the WWE?
James Curtis is a WWE developmental talent working in Florida Championship Wrestling. He impressed the trainers enough to get several TV tryout matches on ECW, although I am under the impression that he is still under a developmental contract getting paid TV bonuses.
