Marketing Size, HBK Update, WWE Creative Team, More

Written by Richard Gray on Jul 10, 2009 - 12:27:54 PM

I have heard you say Vince McMahon has always been a fan of BIG wrestlers, if so, why doesn't the WWE let Kane have a title run for awhile?

Vince McMahon is known for being high up on workers that are bigger because he feels they are more marketable. The younger audience, one of WWE's key demographics, can't tell the difference between a good wrestling match to a bad wrestling match. They can tell the difference between someone with extraordinary size such as The Great Khali compared to someone such as The Brian Kendrick. I don't completely agree with this philosophy but it is the WWE way of thinking. As for your question, the powers that be in WWE do not see Kane as more than an upper-mid card worker. I've always felt Kane is used in the proper capacity but many feel he should be on par with The Undertaker. I disagree but I will concede the fact Kane's character took a significant hit when they unmasked him.

What has Shawn Michaels been up too lately?

Shawn has been quietly away from the business giving his ailing body time to heal. As far as I know he's been at his home in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife and children. WWE officials want him back before the summer is over but Michaels is said to be enjoying his time off and may not come back until the fall in time for the DX Reunion Tour overseas.

Why are the identities of WWE Creative a secret to the public?

They are not kept secret. Stephanie McMahon is the Executive Vice President of Creative Development and Operations as she oversees the creative process for all three brands. Brian Gewirtz is the head Creative writer for Raw, Michael Hayes is the head writer for SmackDown and Ed Koskey is the head writer for ECW. Christopher DeJoseph and Pat Patterson also play roles in the Creative process. There are others that work as creative assistants that are not well-known by the general public but known amongst other WWE employees.

I got the WWE WrestleMania 25 DVD set and saw how Kid Rock was edited out. Now I know this before I got the DVD set because of Wrestling News World but what I do not understand is why wasn't all that done before he was at WrestleMania. Like I understand they probably didn't want to pay Kid Rock what he was asking for so that he would agree to be on the DVD. Why didn't they do an agreement and have a contract signed before WrestleMania. That just doesn't seem smart on Vince McMahon's part. Also...why would Kid Rock not agree? I know you can't read minds but don't you think its better to make some money then no money. I guess someone like Kid Rock doesn't really have to worry about stuff like that. Please let me know what you think? As always...WNW IS #1!

Thanks for the wonderful compliments on the website. WWE edits out musical performances as well as music from artists because they would have to pay a percentage to the artist for every DVD they sell. By editing out the music and performances, they are able to collect on 100% of the revenues. As far as I know they don't even try to work out deals with the artists for distribution on their DVDs.
