More Draft Reaction, Me A Heel Or Face?, Mount Rushmore

Written by Richard Gray on Jun 25, 2008 - 11:13:12 AM

I was wondering your take on Triple H and Kennedy's move to SmackDown since you never posted a Richard Reacts in the coverage on these two moves. They are my two favorite wrestlers and I am mad they were moved from only WWE show I watch regularly.

Sorry for being inconsistent with my Richard Reacts feature in the coverage, everything was happening so fast it was hard to fully incorporate my opinions. I'm content with both of the moves because I feel like Triple H will help the SmackDown brand with its move to MyNetworkTV and he can be a locker room leader on the brand. Furthermore Triple H has been a Raw regular for several years now so the change of pace might not be a bad thing. As for Kennedy I am hoping that he gets the main event push that he deserves as a babyface superstar on SmackDown and there was really nothing for him on Raw after William Regal's suspension. I understand that SmackDown does not have as big of an audience as Raw but that is one of the things that I think WWE is trying to change. It's hard for me to catch SmackDown every week because it is on a Friday night but DVR boxes are a good thing.

My question is with Jeff Hardy going to SmackDown - do you think it is a slap in the face to him going from the A show to the B show? The reason I ask is because before his suspension he was getting a major push, then he got suspended, came back and it looked like they were going to put him in the title picture because of the outcome of the match with Triple H he had a couple of weeks ago.

Trust me getting traded with Triple H and Jim Ross is not a smack in the face. As I have said several times here on WNW, WWE wants SmackDown to be loaded for the move to MyNetworkTV. If anything else, Jeff Hardy to SmackDown is a testament that WWE is still committed to him as a top tier worker in the company. The move for Jeff will give him some new people to work with and will be sort of a new beginning for him.

If you were a wrestler would you like to be a heel or a face? Why? Being a heel seems easier and more fun since your job is to get people to hate you, but being a face would seem fun and more of challenge to win people over.

Based on my personality I would rather work as a babyface. I guess you could consider me more of a prep as I'm pretty big on brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Polo, clean shaven, etc. Also I am the type of person that is going to try my best to get along with everyone no matter how annoying the other person can be. The best heels/babyfaces come from workers being themselves. For example, The Rock's character was not so much a character as it was an extension of Dwayne Johnson the person. The same goes for Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Randy Orton, John Cena, etc. To have the most success in this business you have to incorporate a character that is based on the person because that makes it come across more believable on camera.

Mount Rushmore bears the faces of four of our countries greatest presidents. So my question is this: if you were going to build a Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling, and you could only use 4 wrestlers (no managers, announcers, promoters, etc.), which four would you choose? By the way I love the site and I think it's a true testament to the great work you do that WNW actually crashed after RAW. Keep up the great work!

I love questions like this just because they are great for a change of pace. If I were to do it my four wrestlers on the Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling would be Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, and Steve Austin. Of course this will not come without controversy as you could make an argument for several others but I think these four men have had as astronomical impact on the business that we love. Thanks for the kind words regarding the site!
