MVP, Opinion Of Cena, "Fan" At SS, Matt Hardy
Written by Richard Gray on Aug 24, 2009 - 1:32:39 PM
I was impressed by MVP's work on the mic and in the ring at SummerSlam. I was wondering if there is any chance that he will get a push as a main eventer anytime this year.
I was equally impressed with the work of MVP last night. I like how WWE incorporated his legitimately troubled past into a storyline with his pre-match promo with Jack Swagger. He had one of the most effective promos of the night which says a lot with the work of Chris Jericho and the always over DeGeneration X. I've said this before but it certainly looks like MVP is due a push as a main event talent later this year. Jack Swagger was originally scheduled to go over in their match at SummerSlam but their match result was changed yesterday.
Is John Cena well liked by his peers or is there a lot of animosity between him and them because of the amount of time he spends in the main event picture?
John Cena has his share of detractors but several people in the locker room really like him. John is the type of guy that will go out with the other workers and when it comes time to pay the bill at the end of the night, it's already been taken care of by him without a mention. A lot of the boys appreciate John Cena because they understand he is a big draw and does well for the company. When the company does well, they do well. Obviously not everyone likes him and there is jealousy but I have heard several good things about Cena.
Was the fan attacking the referee in the John Cena vs Randy Orton for the WWE title match real or it a work?
The "fan" that ran-in was actually developmental worker Brett DiBiase. It was a work that was played off to be a shoot. You could tell instantly as the camera shot the security guard escorting the "fan" out of the ringside area. Had it been a shoot, they would have never shot that. I'll have more on this angle later today.
With Jeff Hardy leaving do you see Matt Hardy being elevated to a main event performer?
There was talk of grooming Matt Hardy as a main event worker to take Jeff's place in his feud against CM Punk; however, it looks like they are going with CM Punk vs. The Undertaker instead. With that being said I think Matt will remain an upper mid-card worker until there is a spot for him in the main event picture.
