Nigel McGuinness/WWE, Matt Hardy's Return, D-Lo, More

Written by Richard Gray on Aug 14, 2009 - 1:08:01 PM

I see that Nigel McGuinness made the PWI Top 10 for the second year in a row. Is the list something the WWE looks at before bringing in new talent or do they just trust their own talent evaluations?

Vince McMahon is far too stubborn to pay attention to anyone's evaluation of talent other than the evaluations from his staff. With that being said I have no idea why Nigel McGuinness has not been picked up by WWE. Workers such as William Regal have lobbied for WWE to sign Nigel and feelers have approached him. For whatever reason a deal has not been done and he remains a top star in Ring of Honor. Nigel would be a good fit in WWE not only because of his ring work and look but he has the ability to get over as a hated heel.

What is up with Matt Hardy lately? Has he officially turned face again and reunited with Jeff after saving him from CM Punk and the Hart Dynasty this week on SmackDown? Do you think he'll get the chance to become World Heavyweight Champion soon with Jeff taking time-off?

It looks like there are plans for Matt Hardy to return as a babyface on SmackDown. I was told after he underwent his most recent surgery the plan was to bring him back as babyface but that is always subject to change until it happens. WWE could be pulling a swerve where Matt realigns with Jeff only to cost him the title again. This is only speculation as I know the plan was at one point to have Matt return as babyface but things change rapidly. It does look like Matt is good to go to return to the ring.

Whatever happened to D-Lo Brown?

D-Lo Brown was released from WWE because of budget cutbacks and he has been working in Ring of Honor.

Do you think WWE should move SmackDown to live on Thursday nights and move WWE Superstars to Wednesday nights or would this be a long shot?

The WWE television schedule isn't changing anytime soon. I'm surprised WWE didn't move SmackDown back to Thursday nights when they signed with MyNetworkTV. As for SmackDown airing live, I do not look for that to happen either. It is not cost effective to do live TV two times a week and with the current state of the economy, WWE isn't going to do anything that is going to cost more.
