Pessimism About TNA, WWE Title, Cena vs. The Rock
Written by Richard Gray on Jan 7, 2010 - 11:28:04 AM
While everyone is optimistic about TNA and Hulk Hogan I'm a little pessimistic about it. Wasn't it Hogan, Nash, Bischoff and Russo part of WCW's demise? It sounds like WCW again when there probably going to bring NWO back focusing mostly on those guys other than the younger talent that they have.
TNA has all of the key components that lead to the demise of WCW. I think the hope is that Eric Bischoff learned from his mistakes and that he and Hogan are coming in with more control than Vince Russo. Furthermore Panda Energy doesn't have the money that Ted Turner did to throw around so they are already operating under a much more cost-effective business model. You make an excellent point and time will certainly tell.
What I am about to say may sound harsh, but it is none the less true. You posted here that the Tuesday night TNA Impact taping "sucked" due to disorganization. When Hogan and Bischoff were running WCW, it was the same problem. Bischoff ran WCW into the ground and Hogan couldn't even run his own family. What makes anyone think these two will elevate TNA to glory?
This question is along the same lines with the question above and they both raise excellent points. As I said above, everyone is hoping that Bischoff learned from his mistakes in WCW and TNA operates under a much more cost-effective business model than WCW did. On the flip side, Hogan and Eric Bischoff are the same people that nearly put Vince McMahon out of business. Had it not been for the success of the Attitude Era and the evolution of Steve Austin and The Rock, everything might be different today. Everyone in TNA is hoping they are going to get the Hogan and Bischoff that nearly put McMahon out rather than the Hogan and Bischoff that lead to all out McMahon domination. If Hogan and Bischoff do nothing else, I hope they are able to challenge Vince McMahon enough to the point where he puts on better programming than some of the PG garbage we had to sit through the last decade.
Who do you see Sheamus defending his title against at the Royal Rumble?
As I reported exclusively on WrestlingNewsWorld.com Premium, the current booking plan is to do Sheamus vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship.
Has there been any rumors of The Rock returning to the wrestling universe?
WWE wants to do John Cena vs. The Rock at Wrestlemania XXVI, as they've been pitching the idea to The Rock for over a year. There's been nothing new with the match other than WWE wants to do it but it all depends on Rock's desire to return to WWE. WWE already has a plan B in place should The Rock not agree to come in.
