PPVs On TV, Beth Phoenix, Ziggler/Maria, HBK
Written by Richard Gray on Jul 27, 2009 - 10:21:27 AM
I think it would be a good idea to air the WWE's big pay-per views like the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series on national broadcast not on PPV, because they would get more attention more mainstream media and big time ratings because fans wouldn't have to buy it, or at least air WrestleMania on national television because they say it's pro wrestling's Super Bowl. So what do you think?
This would never work because of the revenue WWE depends on for pay-per-view buyrates. I'm not an expert when it comes to ad revenue on television, but I can tell you from ad revenue on the Internet - rates are very low in today's economy. WWE relies on people buying their pay-per-views to generate a significant amount of revenue for the company. The revenue WrestleMania generates sets the entire year for WWE in what they are able and not able to do.
What's the latest on Beth Phoenix?
The word I've got on Beth Phoenix is she will resume storylines on Raw soon. There has been nothing for her but there is not heat on her or anything like that.
What's up with the recent pairing of Dolph Ziggler and Maria? Seeing as how she's a face and he's a heel, are they trying to make Maria look stupid by being attracted to him? I don't see what creative is trying to accomplish.
WWE paired Maria with Dolph Ziggler to boost his gimmick and help him get over. It may turn Maria heel but it's always difficult turning an attractive Diva heel. Ziggler is an up and coming superstar and has a very bright future in WWE.
At the end of SmackDown taping they showed a SummerSlam promo and Shawn Michaels was on there. Does this mean he will be returning sometime soon?
Vince McMahon wants Shawn Michaels back for SummerSlam but no word on if it will happen.
