Referees/WWE, Divas, Trump Raw, Taz's Status

Written by Richard Gray on Jun 23, 2009 - 10:49:38 AM

Is there some rule all of a sudden that says announcers can no longer reference the referee by his name when calling a match?

Yes, there is a new company-wide initiative to no longer refer to the referees by name. Apparently Vince McMahon feels the referees should be in the background more now than ever and by not calling them by name adds to that.

Do you ever see WWE hiring some great female indy workers such as Sara Del Rey, MsChif and Daizee Haze? Also what are your thoughts of the current state of the Divas division in the WWE?

I don't think the females you mentioned fit the WWE mold. WWE, for whatever reason, does not treat their women's division seriously. Many of the Divas working in the top of the card are not near as talented as some of the Divas that are being jobbed out or scrapped from television completely. I think WWE needs to overhaul their women's division and focus more on competitive wrestling. Gail Kim is one of the best if not the best female workers in the world yet the company has yet to showcase her talent.

After all the hype why did Vince have Donald Trump drop Raw so soon, I was looking forward to Trump on raw for a few months.

The Donald Trump "buying" Raw angle was one of the worst hotshot angles of all-time. It was obviously done to promote last night's commercial-free edition of Raw but it was very poorly executed. The promo between Trump and McMahon was unrealistic and came off as contrived as I've ever seen. There was no point in bringing Trump in to do such a lame angle. I would have rather seen a new General Manager named last week.

With Samoa Joe turning heel at Slammiversary, will Taz come to TNA?

The preliminary plan was for Taz to join TNA Wrestling and align himself with Samoa Joe. I'm not sure how the heel turn affects that plan but it should also be kept in mind Joe is working with a torn triceps muscle. Taz's non-compete clause from his WWE contract is up on Thursday so it may be possible for him to appear at Thursday's tapings.
