Rhodes & DiBiase, WWE Magazine, Kofi, Champ vs. Champ
Written by Richard Gray on May 29, 2008 - 10:24:35 AM
Hey Richard, Do you get the feeling that most of the young stars today (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr.) are only using their father's popularity just to get an unfair advantage?
No not at all. While it certainly does not hurt their cause that their father's were big names in the profession, Rhodes and DiBiase have worked their way to where they are. Both possess the look and charisma needed to be a star in this business and as far as I am concerned have very good wrestling abilities.
Hey Richard, I was just wondering, have you ever been subscribed, or are you currently subscribed, to WWE Magazine? Also, what are your thoughts on the magazine? By the way, love the site, it's awesome!
I do not believe that I have ever been a subscriber of WWE Magazine. Every now and then when I am in a drug store or a grocery store I'll browse through one but most of the time I do not read it. I think WWE does a good job with their magazine but there is nothing in them that I consider "must read" as it is pretty much a paper format of WWE.com where the company gets their superstar's over. Thanks for the compliments on the website!
What are your thoughts on Kofi Kingston? I think he is extremely athletic and I feel he is really over with the crowd. Are there any plans for him?
I think Kofi Kingston is very athletic and a great wrestler, however, I disagree with you that he is "really over". Kofi is starting to draw more reactions but he is by no means over at the level where I feel that a major push is warranted. Kofi has the potential to be a superstar of the future but I think gradually putting him in position is a much better move than trying to push him and it fail. He is already getting a good program with Shelton Benjamin so let's just put the "wait and see" tag on things.
I was wondering why the WWE does not make a match with the two world champions at a PPV like SummerSlam or WrestleMania. How about Undertaker vs. HHH at SummerSlam that would be good - what do you think?
The reason that WWE does not build and promote a Champion vs. Champion match at a major "big four" pay-per-view is rather obvious - the two champions are two of the biggest draws in the company. When you split them up you have two matches that you can promote as must-see instead of just one. That's not to say that it will never happen but from a marketing standpoint it would not be using your resources very effectively. I will tell you that there is talk of doing another ECW Champion vs. WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight Champion match at Night of Champions next month.
