Russo, Booker T/WWE, JeriShow, Legacy, Tonight's Raw
Written by Richard Gray on Oct 12, 2009 - 10:25:31 AM
Can you please explain in detail how Vince Russo helped destroy WCW?
Vince Russo was given creative control of the company when Eric Bischoff was told to take time off. Russo made numerous questionable creative calls that are still talked about today. The new Rise & Fall of WCW DVD set that WWE put out briefly touched on them, but there are far better resources out there. Russo is known for gimmicks such as "pole" matches and programs that lack logical sense. Russo also has a very weird sense of humor, doing things that he thinks are funny when most people consider them outrageously lame. The reason Russo has even been given a shot in the industry is he worked for WWE under Vince McMahon during the Attitude Era. The big difference is, McMahon acted as a filter for Russo; Russo had full control in WCW and now in TNA Wrestling.
I read in your answer where you said Booker T would be welcomed back to WWE with the lack of main event talent. My question is what makes you think WWE would treat him any different than they have Christian and Gail Kim since they have returned?
You make a good point but I think the biggest difference is - Booker T has already been a World Heavyweight Champion and a main eventer in WWE. I realize that Gail Kim is a former Women's Champion but it's not near on the same level as the World Heavyweight Champion. It will be interesting to see if McMahon would humble Booker (if Booker does return to WWE), but I think with the lack of names at the top of the card, the company would welcome him back.
Do you think JeriShow is turning out to better than what Edge and Jericho would have been?
That's impossible to determine but I think the team of Chris Jericho and Edge would have been very good as well. WWE was looking to create a top tag team to act as roving heels on Raw and SmackDown. I am very high up on the work of Chris Jericho and Big Show but I am not surprised considering both are savvy veterans that are over with the WWE audience.
What is the current plan for the future of the Legacy stable in the WWE? Will either Ted DiBiase or Cody Rhodes quit the stable, turn face, and feud with Randy Orton?
The rumor I've heard for months is that Ted DiBiase is going to leave the faction and feud with Randy Orton in a main event program. DiBiase has a starring role in the upcoming straight-to-DVD project, The Marine 2, so the talk has been his push as a top worker will begin shortly before it is released. Nothing at this point has been confirmed but that has been the industry-wide rumor.
Who is guest hosting Raw tonight?
Nancy O'Dell from Access Hollywood is guest hosting tonight's show and she will be joined by Maria Menounos.
