Sheamus, R-Truth/Title, Legacy, WWE & Surgeries

Written by Richard Gray on Dec 16, 2008 - 11:17:50 AM

I recently read that Jim Ross was impressed with the work of Sheamus O'Shaunessy down in FCW. I've been a fan of his work and gimmick for quite a long time now and was wondering what your thoughts are on him and also if there are any plans to call him up to one of the 3 main rosters?

I think that Sheamus is very talented with an excellent look. I haven't seen much of his work on the mic, so I cannot judge him there. Sheamus is exactly what Vince McMahon is looking for in terms of size as he is 6'6, 290 lbs. He recently dropped the FCW Heavyweight Championship but he held it for almost 3 months. Do not be surprised if he gets called him soon although I have not heard any concrete plans.

My question is with R-Truth being as over as he is, do you see WWE giving him a title and if so with what title do you see him holding?

At this stage in R-Truth's WWE career I think that he would be a good fit for the United States Title. R-Truth has been getting good reactions although he didn't seem to draw a very big reaction on Raw a couple of weeks ago. R-Truth could be further elevated but right now the SmackDown main event picture seems pretty saturated with Jeff Hardy, Triple H, Edge, The Undertaker, Big Show, Vladimir Kozlov, and the imminent return of Umaga.

What do you think of Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, & Manu? I think that with Rhodes & Manu being so green, it hurts Orton.

I am really getting into the faction that has been named Legacy. The reason the faction was created was to help elevate Rhodes & Manu and it will be interesting to see where Ted DiBiase fits in when he returns. WWE officials realize that Rhodes & Manu are green (with Manu probably being slightly behind Rhodes), but that is why they were given a proven veteran to help get them over. As I mentioned yesterday, the faction reminds me a lot of what Triple H and Ric Flair did for Orton and Batista with Evolution.

Hey, first of all, your site is THE premier place on the web for wrestling information, and I value all your hard work! My question is about when HBK said he has paid for all of his medical surgeries.... does the WWE actually fund any of these when a wrestler goes down, or does it come out of the wrestler's pocket or through their medical coverage?

Thank you for the very kind compliment - it is greatly appreciated as our goal is for Wrestling New World readers to be the most knowledgeable wrestling fans in the world. As for your question, while I do not know if Shawn Michaels paid for his own surgeries or not, his in-ring segment with JBL at Armageddon was of course scripted. I obviously do not have information on Michaels' financial stability, however, I can tell you that he has a very high downside and makes a lot of money. Michaels is one of the top paid workers in World Wrestling Entertainment. Regarding WWE paying for surgeries, they do front money to workers who need surgery. I'm not sure if this money is paid back or exactly how it works, but WWE will pay for a worker under contract to have surgery.
