Theme PPVs, WWE's Schedule, Hardy's Injury, More
Written by Richard Gray on Jun 10, 2009 - 2:06:44 PM
You mentioned that Breaking Point would be for a submission themed PPV. I'm just curious how you feel about "themed" PPV's. I personally find them a little boring and think that it takes away from higher end of the card to have matches like the Pig Pen and Samoan Strap match.
I agree the Hog Pen Match and Samoan Strap Match were bad gimmick matches. Anyone that knows me know I'm not a fan of gimmick matches as I'm more of a traditionalist. However, I understand WWE having themes to certain B-level pay-per-views to mix things up. I'm not even against TNA doing their Lockdown pay-per-view as it is something out of the ordinary. I also like certain theme matches to signature pay-per-views such as the Traditional Survivor Series Match, the 30-Man Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. So to answer your question I think as long as the themes are not overdone, stupid or pointless I'm not against them in the right place.
With so many of WWE's top workers getting injured over the past few months do you see WWE doing less house shows or calling up more wrestlers from Florida Championship Wrestling?
No, injuries are just part of the business and WWE is not going to alter their way of doing business. Should they for the health of their wrestlers? That's an issue that can be debated as the life of a professional wrestler is grueling.
Is Matt Hardy's hand still broken?
As far as I know Matt Hardy's most recent injury has healed and he is still using the cast as part of his gimmick.
When a WWE superstar has a run-in with police, does it count as a Wellness Policy strike, or has another kind of punishment (if it does have)?
If a worker gets arrested or in trouble with the law it does not count as a Wellness Policy violation but they are still subject to another type of suspension from the company. However, WWE does not always punish workers that get arrested. If you remember last May, Santino Marella got arrested for Driving Under the Influence and never got suspended. Granted he wasn't over the legal limit (as far as BAC is concerned) but a lot of people said he was untouchable after that.
