TNA Creative, Khali's Popularity, Jeff Hardy, Steiner

Written by Richard Gray on May 12, 2008 - 9:45:17 AM

I have noticed that the quality of wrestling in TNA is just as, if not better, than the WWE. Yet TNA seems to do a lot of gimmick matches while the WWE does very little. Part of me thinks this is a ploy just to grab the attention of as many fans as possible. But do you think this is a smart move and what do you think the reasoning behind it is?

I wish I could explain why TNA did so many gimmick matches. I think it’s terrible and it devalues the talent that the company has at its disposal. Vince Russo (who writes 90% or more of what you see in TNA) is a guy that has a reputation of doing different things to try and grab attention. However, I think that the booking in TNA is hurting the promotion. Sacrifice last night was the first pay-per-view that I have not ordered in 2008, I just couldn’t sit through three hours of that crap.

Richard, like many wrestling fans, I think The Great Khali should never have been hired by WWE as a wrestler. However, I have been reading about his trip home to India and the good reception that he has received. Do you think Khali would be better suited as an ambassador for the WWE to foreign nations like India than being an actual wrestler? I think if WWE wants to use him on TV so bad, they should use him as a bodyguard/enforcer for a heel and just keep him out of the ring.

The only reason that The Great Khali has so much fame in his home country of India is because he is a WWE superstar. I think if his role were reduced, his popularity would suffer. I do not know much about the professional wrestling scene in India but from the coverage that I have read, it seems like they pass pro wrestling off as more of a legitimate sport than entertainment. I think that it’s great that Khali is so popular in India but his wrestling is downright terrible.

I heard that Jeff Hardy's 60 day suspension is up today, so my question is what does WWE plan to do with Jeff once he comes back, and do you see him ever getting another big main event push like the one he was supposed to get this year before he got suspended?

Jeff Hardy’s suspension is over and he is now eligible to return to WWE. From what I have been told he will be an upper mid-card superstar on the Raw brand. He will not get the same main event level push that he was getting before he was suspended but he should still be featured superstar on the brand. Early plans have him working with Lance Cade although I have heard rumors of a program with Kennedy (but they may be off with Kennedy’s apparent babyface turn). Do not be shocked if Hardy shows up on Raw tonight from Detroit, Michigan.

Hey Richard! I read one of Scott Steiner's interviews here on the site about him burying the McMahons and Triple H, do you agree with everything he said mainly about Vince McMahon wanting bury the top guys from WCW?

No not at all. Scott Steiner is like Kurt Angle, he gets carried away when he talks and comes off like an incompetent moron. Vince McMahon took people such as Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero from WCW and actually made them into superstars. I am not a McMahon mark as there are several other examples that I could give you. I am not sure what Scott’s problem is but he needs to shut up.
