Triple H, Kennedy's Return, Papered Shows, Denver
Written by Richard Gray on May 26, 2009 - 10:30:15 AM
Why was Kennedy the one to be announced as the fifth "player" in last night's big Ten-Man Tag Team Match instead of Triple H?
They're holding Triple H off of television to sell his "injuries" from the beat down he took from Randy Orton at Backlash. While this could change at any time, I heard they weren't going to bring him back until after Extreme Rules. As for Kennedy returning in the match, they didn't want to bring him back in a singles match because they don't want to push his injury too soon.
Do you think it was right for WWE to bring Kennedy back as face when it was evident that they could have started something between him and MVP, and actually had a good challenger for the United States Championship?
It's been brought up for Kennedy to turn heel again and continue his feud with MVP but it looks like WWE is going with a plan I was told a couple of weeks ago to give him a main event program. I was told it was a possibility he could have a program with Randy Orton in between Triple H's return. They certainly left a possible Orton vs. Kennedy feud open last night with Kennedy saying he wants to be WWE Champion and taking the RKO.
What does it mean to say that a WWE or TNA event has been heavily papered?
Papering or papered in wrestling terms means to give away free tickets. When an event is papered, the company gives away tickets to fill the arena. Last night's edition of Raw was papered because WWE did not have enough time to legitimately sell out the venue with the Denver Debacle.
Initially, I agreed that E. Stan Kroenke made a mistake, but I feel like Vince McMahon is handling the situation very poorly. It was a big deal and lots of money was lost, but it's a bit hypocritical, as he has screwed many people over in the past. Most people agreed with him, and that should have been enough for his ego. Now he is coming off a bit childish for not getting his way, though. How do you feel about this?
I agree it's a bit hypocritical that WWE pulled their tapings tonight from Colorado Springs; however, I think Vince McMahon handled the Denver Debacle very well. He took a disastrous situation and got a ton of mainstream media press and followed it with an NBA Playoff-themed Raw. I think it further proves Donald Trump's claim that Vince McMahon is the best promoter in the world. There are a lot of people that wouldn't know what to do in that situation, much less use it to their advantage by getting coverage by major mainstream media outlets.
