Warrior's Return, The Patriot, WWE Suspensions, Umaga

Written by Richard Gray on Jun 16, 2008 - 10:44:11 AM

Hi Richard, I was wondering if you are following Ultimate Warrior's return to wrestling? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Yes, I have been following Ultimate Warrior's return to wrestling. Unlike a lot of non-credible wrestling sites that post something every time that he makes a new YouTube video, we don't cover a lot about it because there really hasn't been that much news to come out of it. Personally I think that Warrior is old, crazy, and washed up. This could all be one big publicity stunt. People have speculated that there is interest in TNA in signing Warrior but I cannot imagine what a 48 year old that has not worked in mainstream professional wrestling in 9 years could offer the company.

Hey Richard this site is now in my daily routine of sites I visit every day. That being said I have a really funny question to ask I was watching an old Monday Night Raw an there was this wrestler named the Patriot who had a feud with Bret Hart and he used to come out to the Entrance Music of Kurt Angle before Kurt was in the WWE and he was a masked wrestler, who is that wrestler and is he used in today's business?

I'm glad that you visit us every day; thank you for your support! The Patriot was a guy named Del Wilkes who played college football in South Carolina and ended up breaking into the wrestling business. After his stint in WWE, he retired after working the independent circuit in the early 2000s. Wilkes reappeared in the national spotlight last summer during the midst of the Benoit Family Tragedy, talking about his abuse of steroids and prescription painkillers. I believe Wilkes was even jailed at one time for forging prescriptions. Wilkes now lives in his home state of South Carolina and is completely out of the wrestling business. He maintains that he is drug free.

I would think that the appearance of both Vince and the top workers being on the juice, most wellness policy violations are more drugs related. Do you think this is true? I remember a time when Scott Steiner was with the WWE and he said he would have no trouble going for a test as long as Vince and HHH went too.

You can never assume just because someone looks like they are on the gas that they are. Of course I am not taking up for WWE because I feel like there are several loopholes in their Wellness Policy but I do agree with you that most of the suspensions seem to be for prescription painkillers rather than steroids. Also, do not listen to anything that Scott Steiner says as he has obvious hidden agendas.

What has happened to Umaga? He was doing good and then he just started losing and is no title picture.

Umaga teamed with Snitsky to get a clean win over the WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Hardcore Holly on Raw last Monday and he continues to work in the Raw main event picture on house shows. Although I understand what you are talking about as he has done more jobs than normal as of late. I think that the company is just planning on moving Umaga to SmackDown so they do not feel that the losses make him appear weak. I do not necessarily agree but that is the thinking from the people that I have spoke with.
