With John Cena and Batista out of the title picture for SummerSlam does that leave JBL facing CM Punk for the title?
That is what it looks like and I would not be surprised if Kane was added as well. Some have speculated that John Cena vs. Batista isn't really going to happen and that JBL and CM Punk will be added for a title match, however, I do not think that is going to be the case. I think that we are going to see Cena vs. Batista and in another match have JBL vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. The only possible addition that I could see to the World Title match would be for Kane to be added.
Why did Trevor Murdoch get released just after getting drafted to SmackDown?
I broke this story on WNW Premium right after he got released; WWE creative approached Trevor Murdoch with a comedy storyline on SmackDown involving Jimmy Wang Yang. Murdoch balked over the idea and ended up getting himself released. Several people backstage in WWE were surprised but apparently creative felt like if he didn't want to do it then they had nothing for him. Murdoch did not have a non-compete in his contract so technically he could work for TNA any day now.
Do you read any of the books the wrestlers write and what is your take on them? Also what is your favourite book? I've read most of them and I think Mick Foley "Have A Nice Day" is the best.
I read a lot of wrestler autobiographies as I always like to learn more about the wrestling business. My favorite wrestling book to date is Bret Hart's autobiography which I felt was the most real-life in depth look at the wrestling business that has ever been published. One thing that everyone needs to keep in mind about autobiographies when reading them is that they are always going to be somewhat one-sided and have an obvious bias. However, I felt that for the most part Hart was very honest in his book and I think that his book is a must-read for any diehard wrestling fan or anyone looking to learn more about the inner workings of the wrestling business.
My question is in regards to name trademarks. How is it that people like Booker T and Sting got to keep their names?
Booker T and Sting bought the rights to their names before WCW was bought out by WWE thus making themselves the legal owners of their respective names. Notice how when WWE brings a wrestler up from developmental how they change their name to something that they own (example: Matt Sydal to Evan Bourne). WWE does their best to protect their own interests which is why they were not going to build Sydal up under his real name. WWE owns the rights to the Ultimate Warrior's name so he decided to change his legal name to Warrior. You can't own the rights to someone's real name.
