WWE Network, McMahon/MMA, Flair vs. Hogan, Finkel
Written by Richard Gray on Nov 19, 2009 - 11:26:05 AM
With Raw signing a contract extension to stay with the USA Network what will become of the WWE channel they planned on making?
I ran a story on this earlier this week at this link. NBC Universal, the parent company of the USA Network, has been in talks with Vince McMahon and WWE about partnering with them on the new network. So as the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this week, WWE's new deal with USA could foreshadow the bigger deal which is WWE could be pairing with NBC Universal on a new cable network. McMahon is very interested in a WWE channel and they are still working towards it.
I know that Vince McMahon has stated he wanted to stay away from MMA, but I remember Mark Cuban stating he was in talks with the McMahon's about creating a MMA company to compete with UFC. Now with WWE bringing him in as a guest host, and Shane being seen walking into a UFC building, I was wondering if this is a sign of WWE actually creating an MMA company, or am I just reading too much into it?
WWE is not getting into MMA and many feel this is one of the reasons Shane McMahon has announced he will be leaving the company in January 2010. Shane wants to get into Mixed Martial Arts and there are several rumored scenarios that could involve him either working for UFC or starting his own promotion. We have full details available at this link.
Can you please let everyone at TMZ and anybody else know that the Flair vs. Hogan scrap was not real.
Hah, it's hilarious how much legitimate press the "brawl" between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan got at their press conference. It was all done to get promotion on their tour of Australia and it worked perfectly. TMZ said reps for Hogan told them it was real, but what did they expect them to say?
With Howard Finkel not a ring announcer, what are his current duties with the WWE?
Howard Finkel is more of an ambassador for WWE. He does promotional work, blogs for the WWE Universe website, takes part in live chats and occasionally announces at special events.
