WWE Superstars, TNA/Denver, Teddy Hart, MSG Incident
Written by Richard Gray on May 22, 2009 - 3:26:17 PM
Do you like my idea of making Superstars a show where all matches are inter-promotional and not just matches that couldn't fit into regular TV? It's like we see matches that could happen on Raw, ECW, or SmackDown but instead they just happen on a different show. It's kind of like seeing Raw, ECW, and SmackDown a second time.
There are a couple of reasons why this wouldn't work. For one, the taping schedule makes it whereas WWE would have to bring SmackDown/ECW workers to Raw and Raw workers to SmackDown/ECW which would be a challenge from a logistics standpoint. Two, it would make it confusing for the casual fan in that they wouldn't understand why CM Punk could face MVP on Superstars but not on SmackDown. WWE wants their brands to be as distinct as ever, offering three separate products to create internal competition and brand loyalty. WWE Superstars is being used as a way to promote all three different brands. I'm embarrassed to say I have never seen an episode of WWE Superstars because I do not get WGN America.
In your opinion do you think TNA is being immature in trying to use the Denver vs. WWE situation and talk down to WWE and try and gain TNA fans?
TNA is just doing it to try and capitalize off the mainstream media attention. In my opinion it makes them look desperate but TNA has done a lot of things out of desperation. Remember the Sarah Palin angle or when they offered Rob Blagojevich a role? I don't think anyone will forget them bringing in Pacman Jones and making him one-half of the TNA Tag Team Champions. I don't pay much attention to it and based on TNA's ratings, buyrates and live event attendance, I don't think anyone else does either.
Do you ever see Teddy Hart getting another chance in WWE?
Given Teddy's past problems with his attitude, I don't foresee him getting another shot in WWE developmental. I hate to say never in this business but I would be surprised if they took a chance on him again. Teddy is a tremendous talent but the problems with his attitude have limited him.
I was reading on Triple H on Wikipedia and there was a picture of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall and said something about the MSG incident. Can you shed some light on what the MSG incident was?
The incident happened at a WWE house show in 1996 at Madison Square Garden where Scott Hall and Shawn Michaels were working as babyfaces and Triple H and Diesel (Kevin Nash) were working as heels. At the end of the show, all four embraced as Nash and Hall were leaving WWE to go to World Championship Wrestling. All four were (and still are) very close friends and were known as the Kliq backstage in WWE. They are infamously known for their political stroke to be able to get in Vince McMahon's ear.
