Batista Says Lesnar Ending The Streak Sucked, Today’s Audience, WWE Having No Competition

The UK Huff Post has a new Q&A online featuring quotes from Batista. While Batista has been doing a lot of media ahead of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy — in which he plays the role of Drax the Destroyer — I felt there were enough notables here to pick out some highlights. They are as follows:

Wrestling fans being anti-Batista or just pro-Daniel Bryan:

You could have fooled the hell out of me! They channelled their rage right in my direction. I can’t put my finger on it, it was crazy. I don’t get wrestling now. I’ve kind of completely taken my finger off the pulse. It’s a different audience which I don’t understand. It’s strange though, it’s really just the TV audience because when we get into the live events it’s a completely different audience and they come just to watch the show. It’s weird, the TV crowd seems like they come to be the show rather than to watch and interact with the show. It’s like they want to steal the show, so I’m just totally confused.

Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling:

Any competition is good for business, the problem is they’re just not going to be any competition. They’ll never beat the production of the WWE. It’s a huge production, they’re just so good at what they do and they’re on top of the world for a reason. It’s a first class production and I don’t see anybody being a threat. WCW was the closest thing and I think it’s a shame they went under because I think competition is a good thing but that promotion or any other promotion is just not competition.

The Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak being broken:

It sucked! Honestly, I thought it sucked. I haven’t really talked much about it but I think it was a bad decision, a horrible decision. I don’t have any say in the matter but to me, watching as a fan, it made me sick. Brock Lesnar beating him didn’t seem to work and it really wasn’t good that Brock left the day after. I just don’t see how that made sense at all. I don’t think anyone wanted to see the streak broken and it just didn’t make sense to me.

This guy… I think Batista is going to be all bitter about his return for the rest of his life.
He needs to move on. Especially if he wants to come back and have a program with HHH – constantly complaining about the fans isn’t going to endear you to anyone.

    Boo-hoo-tista indeed.

So he was asked a question about if he thinks the crowd is pro-Bryan or anti-Batista and that makes him bitter for answering the question?

      • Bob’s Diner

He turned it into yet another rant about the crowd and how they treated him. Every interview since he has returned, he has complained about the crowd not coming to see him and support the product, but wanting to make up chants and stuff.

        • K!NG

Is he wrong cause he is exactly right in what he says. the tv crowd cares more about the people talking about what they did then what the wrestlers were doing in the ring on a monday night.

          • Bob’s Diner

Sometimes that is the fault of the wrestlers – sometimes it is the just the fans.

Read between the lines on what he is saying in that interview; he still believes he is more popular than Daniel Bryan. He needs to accept that his return was VERY poor timing and there was someone else that was poised for the top spot. Fans weren’t at the Royal Rumble just to do stupid chants – they went hoping for a payoff to a 9-month storyline. Instead the payoff they got was the push of a 46 year-old man who hasn’t been relevant to wrestling in years. They had every right to be mad, yet Batista still just just blames the fans for not caring about ‘sports entertainment’

Is it fair to say you are not a Batista fan ? No Offense but you kinda come off as a bitter DB fan who is still upset he didn’t win the rumble. Sad thing is look where that story line pay off got us? DB with a injury and john cena back as champion. so what would batista have to be bitter about cause none of it worked out for him or any of us cause we are right back to where we were a year ago

          • Bob’s Diner

It is funny because I post on here a lot and not once have I ever pretended to be a Daniel Bryan fan, yet that is always the response I get when I offer up that he was more over than anyone on the roster at that time. Heck, if he returned tomorrow, he probably still would be.

Fact is, Batista expected a massive reaction to him returning. Instead he got put in a spot that was poorly planned and he suffered for it. Instead of constantly complaining about ‘today’s fans’ he should get over it and come back and put on a decent show – that would be the way to shut people up.

          • K!NG

Actually he has stated in countless interviews since his return that he knew he wouldn’t work as a face. not sure how you come to the conclusion he expected to be more over then anyone on the roster.

          • Bob’s Diner

Dude went around after the Royal Rumble flipping off fans and telling them they sucked, as well as these interviews where he complains about the fans booing him. Oh and he whinged on twitter the day after he returned as well. These reasons alone cause me to not believe that previous interview where he claimed he wanted to come back as a heel. If he thought he was going to get booed on his return, we wouldn’t be here 6 months later listening to him cry about the fans again.

  • K!NG

good article. if you got the time read the entire piece he said a lot more interesting things then what is highlighted above.

  • Tom Mayer

I wonder if he thought the winner of the rumble sucked too, because I did.

  • straightedgechap

I can only agree with Batista on Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak ending. But the rest,he’s just complaining. The crowd wants to become the show?Them cheering & booing is what helps the show get ratings.Cena doesn’t react like that when people boo him,and has even said that it doesn’t matter if you’re booed or cheered. It’s worse when you have no reaction from the fans at all

  • Jay El Bee

I agree 100% with Batista about the TV audience, it’s almost as if they only show up so they can try and ruin the show.

  • Yves Heinrich

Just love Batista!!! I hope you kick Brock’s ass if you return!!!

  • JR Texx (Jamie)

The only crowds I enjoy are Chicago and UK crowds (not biased being from the UK) but they always seem to be lively and make the show more interesting.. lately the crowd seemed more or less dead, and it makes the 3 hour long show seem longer. Yes the superstars are entertaining, but for me the crowd needs to be energetic so I can get in to it more.

Although the crowd at Wrestlemania 30 when Brock pinned The Undertaker, that bit I can forgive lol.
