  Chris Jacks’ Wrestlemania XXIV Predictions
By Chris Jacks on March 30th, 2008

Hey everyone and welcome to my special Wrestlemania predictions blog. For those wondering where the talent exchange is, I will be teaming up with Anthony for all pay per views following Wrestlemania however with my crazy work schedule this time I have had to go it alone.

First off I would just like to say I expect Wrestlemania to deliver big style. There are a couple of snooze matches but I expect to see them low down the card and not given much time. I think the hardest thing to call is what order the matches will be occurring in although one thing is for certain the WWE title match will be the main event in order for the whole world to see the king of kings return to his throne, but I am getting ahead of myself, here is how I expect things to pan out:

24 man Battle Royale to determine the No.1 contender for the ECW championship: Now this will be an interesting match up. I think it is a pretty safe bet to assume that anyone that is part of a tag team will not be winning this match so that instantly excludes half of the wrestlers taking part. My gut feeling is Kane will be picking up the win here although with the push Mark Henry has been getting for the last couple of weeks it is not beyond reason he could walk away the winner. I would love to see Kofi Kingston or Stevie Richards but its to soon for Kofi and Stevie has been reduced back to jobber status.

My Predicted Winner: Kane

ECW Championship Match: Chavo Guerrero vs Kane: If as I predicted Kane emerges victorious from the Battle Royale I certainly expect to see him capture the ECW championship and make the permanent switch over to ECW. Chavo has been a good heel champion but other than CM Punk he has no-one really to feud with and I see his long term future back on Smackdown. I also have a feeling that WWE may punish Chavo for being seen backstage at the TNA tapings earlier in the week. Kane is one of the only “monsters” that the fans really care about and I think Kane capturing a major title is something every wrestling fan would be pleased to see

My Predicted Winner: Kane

Bunnymania at Wrestlemania: Team Maria vs Team Glamazon: Now I understand the reasons for Maria being in this match as she did the Playboy shoot this year but why could this match not have been against Jillian and Melina and then also include a Woman’s title match between Beth and Mickie James. WWE really needs to take a leaf out of TNA’s book and start taking their proper female wrestlers seriously else Melina, Beth, Victoria and Mickie may jump ship. This match will be amusing for one main reason: Santino. Santino is golden on the mic and brings so much humour and enjoyment to every segment he partakes in. I expect to see him disrupt the match and probably get beaten down by Snoop Dogg and the face divas. But for this reason I will be watching this match otherwise it would be a cigarette break moment. Team Maria will probably win I imagine with Melina getting pinned by Maria. I also expect to see Maria leave Santino and end up on Snoop Dogg’s arm by the end of the night.

My Predicted Winner: Team Maria

Belfast Brawl: Finlay vs JBL: This is a strange match-up. It started off being the best promoted match of all but since the Mayweather vs Big Show promos have been dominating TV this match seems to have been forgotten about. This will be a brutal brawl with lots of blood and painful spots. I fully expect to see Finlay picking up the win to get revenge on JBL as I cannot see this feud continuing after Wrestlemania. Hornswoggle may well get involved as well maybe even tadpole splashing JBL.

My Predicted Winner: Finlay

MITB Ladder Match: CM Punk vs Carlito vs Shelton Benjamin vs Chris Jericho vs MVP vs John Morrison vs Mr Kennedy vs (possibly Matt Hardy): This could well be the match of the night. The build up has been so strong with some amazing matches taking place. I am still not 100% sure who will be walking out with the briefcase. I really hope Matt Hardy returns during this match and does a crazy high spot on MVP to continue their feud. I would personally love to see John Morrison winning but I am not sure WWE feel he is quite ready for main event level feuds just yet. My gut instinct is to go for CM Punk as winner, he has been on a role in the build up to this match and management are very pleased with him. Also wwe.com are currently following CM Punk around Orlando. A sign perhaps? I am not sure. What I do know is this is going to be one hell of a match, all of the guys taking part are so talented and athletic. Something tells me Y2J and Kennedy will be feuding after this match over that IC title which is the only reason I could see them not winning. CM Punk belongs in the main event and could wrestle just about anyone, it could also be the step that elevates him to the main event on either RAW or Smackdown.

My Predicted Winner: CM Punk

Brand Supremacy Match: Batista vs Umaga: This match has been built up very strongly on both Smackdown and RAW. Both of these guys are phenomenal workers and I expect this match will be one of the high points of the night. I can imagine plenty of near falls and possibly a DQ finish with Batista eventually snapping and smashing Umaga with a chair or something similar. The rumour is Umaga is heading to Smackdown after Wrestlemania so I expect this feud to continue for some months. I am not ruling out Umaga getting disqualified here either but at this stage I see Batista just going savage and beating him down.

My Predicted Winner: Umaga by DQ

Big Show vs Mayweather: The biggest vs the best: I was dreading this match to start off with but it has been so well promoted, at the expense of some of the other matches on the card, that it should come off pretty well. I do not expect this to be a long match and I am really hoping the crowd is totally behind Big Show. I imagine Mayweather will probably pick up the win, perhaps with some help from his posse leading to a full on brawl with WWE vs Boxing Posse just like on RAW a few weeks ago. This could be a disaster of a match or it could be excellent, just depends on how well Mayweather works in the ring. I just cannot see Big Show winning cleanly as Mayweather would not have signed up just to loose, his ego seems to big for that.

My Predicted Winner: Mayweather

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge vs The Undertaker: I am almost certain that The Rated R Era will be coming to a temporary end on Sunday night. The Undertaker will emerge victorious and stand tall 16-0 at Wrestlemania. This feud has been built so well despite the result being a bit predictable. I fully expect the Edgeheads to get involved at some point and they will no doubt receive a double chokeslam for their troubles. The match should be great to see and I expect some severe brutality from The Undertaker. I would not be surprised to see him winning with his new submission manoeuvre that has felled so many top stars in recent weeks. Smackdown creative have done such a strong job building this match and I truly cannot wait to see it

My Predicted Winner & New Champion: The Undertaker

WWE Championship Match: Randy Orton vs Triple H vs John Cena: This match has also has had some superb build up. No one man has looked too dominant. I am sure everyone is dreading the thought of John Cena regaining the championship but to be honest I cannot see that happening just yet. Triple H has a point to prove and has not had an extended title reign for several years. I would like to see Orton retain as I believe he has really come into his own the last few weeks on RAW. With Cena filming a new movie this should be the time for The King Of Kings returns to his throne

My Predicted Winner & New Champion: Triple H

Career Threatening Match: Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels: This should be the main event, no question. I think the WWE championship match will be ahead of it on the card but Flair deserves to headline Wrestlemania in what probably will be his last ever match. Flair has given so much to the industry and this will be an amazing encounter. I would love to see Flair winning and then announcing he has beaten everyone and is now retiring on his own terms, that would only be fitting for one of he greatest icons of modern wrestling. When the bell rings the reaction is going to be phenomenal and will send a shiver down my spine and I may even shed a tear or two at the end knowing I may well never see Ric Flair wrestle again.

My Predicted Winner: Ric Flair (who then retires as he has beat the man and every man he has ever faced)

So there you have it, those are my Wrestlemania predictions, its going to be a great night and I am so excited. I will be back on Friday with Chris Reviews Smackdown which will include my PPV thoughts. As always you can contact me on: www.myspace.com/agreement_called_forever or a_agreement_called_forever@hotmail.com

For one more day at least The Rated R Era is still going strong!!!
