Guility As Blogged - Where’s Adamle?
  By Anthony O'Reilly on April 30th, 2008

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest edition of Guilty as Blogged. I haven’t gotten a chance to watch all of Backlash with SAT’s coming up but I managed to get a few in. So without further ado I give you my Backlash thoughts

Matt Hardy vs. MVP- I didn’t manage to watch yet but based on previous encounters I’d say it’s a pretty good match. Changing the title now was a mistake in my opinion. Nobody likes to see a heel chase after a championship. Its way more entertaining to watch the face go after it. I still would like to see a TLC or Iron Man before MVP goes to another brand. I know Chris Jacks is psyched that Smackdown’s savior now is the U.S. Champion.

ECW Championship Match- Mediocre match that wasn’t anything PPV quality. It’s obvious that Kane would retain but I wanted to see Bam get a little more involved. Adamle messed up so much. He got the referee wrong and called ropes rings. The part where Tazz messes up and says he pulled an Adamle was hilarious. Seriously they can’t get someone else to do this. Maybe Paul Heyman. That would be cool.

Big Show vs. Khali- Show won. That’s all you need to know

Batista vs. HBK- Chris Jericho as ref for the first time since 2005. It was pretty cool to see him in the gear. Surprised he didn’t play more of a role in the match but with the Highlight Reel last night I’m sure something will happen soon. I sure hope HBK doesn’t have to leave any time soon for injury. The match itself was way better then their Armageddon match in 2003. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

So is the WWE actually going to let the Divas who can wrestle get the push they deserve. I was surprised that the heels got the duke.

Wow. Undertaker vs. Edge. Even though we knew Undertaker would retain there were so many near falls that got me on the edge of my seat. Edge looks like he’s taking some time off. He deserves it.

As soon as I found out this was main event I knew Orton was going to lose. He got one main event at No Mercy and the rest the WHC got the main. That pisses me off. Just because it’s not Cena doesn’t mean it can’t be the main event. I’m not a mark in any way but I was psyched when Triple H won. I would’ve been cool with Orton too. When it came to the last two they put on a classic. There were a good amount of cool high spots during the match.
The concept of turning off the main event on Raw was weird but interesting. The steel cage match set for Judgment Day should be a good one and for the first time since 2006 will not have to do with Cena.

Kennedy’s back. YES!!!! Apparently he will feud with Regal first. I hope he at least gets IC soon and in time WWE or WHC. I’ve heard the rumors that Stone Cold wants to put him over and I think that would be a cool idea. Kennedy is the future of WWE.

Mick Foley is the new SD commentator replacing Coach. That is awesome. He was bit nervous at Backlash but way better then Coach. Now let’s get Sandman to cane Admale and announce with Tazz.

So let’s get on with the show and get ready to plug in your ear plugs.

ECW opens tonight with Shelton Benjamin and Kofi Kingston. So I guess that we do have a feud in the works here. That’s great now we can actually see what Kofi can do in real matches and not just to jobbers or people who act like ones. Benjamin calls last week a fluke and promises that this week it’ll be different. Now this match pissed me off. Kofi acted like an absolute jobber only getting in a cross body which Benjamin reversed. He basically only hit the Jamaican Buzzsaw. Last week’s match was so much better. Kofi is no jobber. Anyway he picks up the duke and keeps the undefeated streak. Also is the electric chair the move of the week? I’ve seen three since Backlash.

We now go to Mike Knox and Tommy Dreamer. Colin Delaney comes to ringside with the Original. Nothing special about this match. They both got in offense and Knox slapped Delaney around before finishing off Dreamer. Hey I got a question. When will Dreamer stop being the guy who shows off the latest PPV shirt and jobs all the time? Looks like Knox is getting a push in the near future.

It’s now time for Striker’s classroom. You know he’s from Bayside and I’m right on the border in Flushing. That’s pretty cool. He talks about a croon I think and mentions how we are being acclimated (that means getting used to. SAT word) to Mike Adamle Smackdown will also be accustomed to the voice of Mick Foley (another home state brethren of mine). Foley gets a good pop when he comes out. Striker mentions how we’re used to his in ring performer and Foley brings up his two bestselling books. Striker makes fun of Foley’s rugged appearance and Foley says how he likes it. Foley then makes fun of Striker and says how he’s never sacrificed anything for the fans. Gets a pop for mention A.C. and Striker then asks if he knows how to commentate and if he knows the moves. Eventually the sock comes out and down the throat. From experience when a sock with permanent marker is shoved down your throat it’s not pleasant. Class is dismissed.

We now go to Mr. MITB CM Punk. He comes out to face Chuck Palumbo. Very physical matchup here. I hate that it led into a DQ. So is Palumbo’s gimmick a temper tantrum freakazoid? I really don’t think this will be a rivalry and there was no point in it ending in DQ. No point in this being here. Where’s Burke these days?

OK now I don’t know whether to celebrate or be confused but after Chavo comes out Adamle leaves. Tazz follows and we have no announcers for the main event. Anyway our main event is a regular old handicap match. Bam Neely doesn’t do anything special to show us his skills or anything. The end comes when Chavo taps off (whoops pulled an Adamle) to Bam who weakens Kane to the floor and the frog splash is delivered for the win. Please don’t tell me this feud is going on. And where the hell did Adamle go?

This ECW gets a disappointing 6 barbwire chairs out of 10. Very poor matches and Striker’s Classroom was really the only entertaining thing.

ECW Preview: Next week is the 100th broadcast of ECW on Sci-Fi. Tommy Dreamer will face Mike Knox in an Extreme Rules match and Delaney will face Estrada for a contract. Hopefully creative lets the Original get the duke in his type of match and don’t let Delaney lose to a GM. And we’ll also find out where Adamle went to.
