A TNA fan will know that Lockdown is a very important PPV in their calendar year. It’s one of the big ones along with Bound For Glory, Slammiversary and Genesis. This time it comes to us from Lowell, Massachusetts and the way the build up to the matches have been, I would recommend a definite buy on this one. Better still if you can attend the live show then please do so and here are the reasons for that.
The title feud between Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe has been built on the fact that it’s Joe’s last chance. If this were the WWE we would have had JR or Cole trying to plug a stip like this at the top of their voices.TNA has managed to create interest in this feud without even having one of the competitors in the ring for over a month. That’s a good thing in this case because Joe and Angle have been at each other ever since Angle debuted in TNA. Trying the same stuff over and over would have guys like us hating on them.
This is why TNA have built Lockdown with two main events. A Lethal Lockdown and the Title match. There are Russo haters everywhere who pick on him, I do too sometimes but for this PPV I’ve gotta hand it to him and the other bookers. They‘ve done a damn good job. The storylines have made sense; the character building has been good. The result is simple:
At Lockdown TNA will be forced to deliver a good wrestling show especially the title match because as said earlier one competitor has been absent from the ring for over 4 weeks. So expect Joe and Angle to be at their best. Joe will be, because of the stip and the fact that he might( WILL) become champ and Kurt Angle almost always delivers in the ring.TNA also delivers a damn good Lethal Lockdown filled with excellent spots every year.
This week saw the continued build of those two main events. Kurt Angle asking Joe to sign a contract stating he will quit TNA if Angle doesn’t tap or be pinned was a good effect to play heel. Steiner interrupting to say that he would cash in his title shot at Sacrifice and the brilliant line “I don’t wanna shake your hand, with the way Joe’s training, you’re not going to win” was awesome.
Another Joe training video with Marcus Davis (UFC guy) was all that was done for the title feud .It was the end of that build for the show but was good enough to be damn good. The remaining part of the show focused on Lethal Lockdown.
Those who don’t know what Lethal Lockdown is should pay attention. The match starts 1 on 1 until every few seconds a new guy enters. When all ten are in, a roof full of weapons drops down -complementary fireworks included. The cage is then closed and the first team to secure a pin or a submission wins.
With last week’s last minute stip made by Matt Morgan allowing Team Tomko to have as member # 5 in James Storm this week saw Team Cage acting like they’d go into Lockdown with 4 guys.
All of that boiled down in a very well done match and segment with Storm taking on Sting with Matt Morgan as the ref. A ringside brawl starts the match with Sting bashing Storm into a wall type thing. Into the ring and a couple of heel tactics by Storm building to the climax with Morgan throwing Sting the bat, turning away when Sting nailed Storm , who used the Scorpion Death Drop and gets the pin.
Team Tomko appears and gets in Morgan’s face until Team Cage showed up and a fight ensued. Morgan in the ring meanwhile planted the testified D-Von with an awesome elevated bicycle kick and finally landed an awesome-er Vertical suplex side slam on AJ leading to Team Cage getting into the ring and Cage tears Morgan’s ref shirt to reveal the Team Cage T-shirt and Mike Tenay goes nuts!
That was awesome.
The other awesome match was LAX and the Guns against Rock and Rave Infection +Black Reign +the Backwards Killer RELLIK. Match started with a couple of fast counters between Sabin and Rave. Tags in and out with wrestlers using offensive moves. Homicide does the suicide dive but the match clearly belonged to Hernandez. Amazing offensive arsenal used and the match ends with him throwing Jimmy Rave like a basket ball with a BORDER TOSS (ouch!) to get the pin.
I like Stone Cold Sharkboy (unlike Richard Gray). This week the drinker of clam juice took on Elix Skipper in an xscape qualifier. The match was pretty decent. Very quick spots. Sharkboy does the corner kicks. A couple of suplexes and the Thesz Press. Primetime lands a couple of kicks, eats a nasty top rope hurricanrana, also lands a decent belly to belly suplex but alas Sharkboy qualifies with the stunner.
Give him a shell yeah!
Non Title Tag team match AJ/Tomko against Cage/Rhino. Most of this match was Cage working it for his team. Rhino lands a quick spot before tagging in Cage who ate a lot of the offense from team Tomko including an awesome Pele from AJ .
Rest of the match was punches, elbows, clotheslines, chops,a DDT, a powerslam and a couple of running Enziguris .The finish was a hot tag to Rhino who cleaned house with a gore on AJ turning him inside out ! And Cage at the same time landing the Unprettier on Tomko. The finish was Nash in with a chair after 3D interfere,Rhino gores the ref. giving a DQ win to the champs.
P.S: Velvet Revolver is awesome and so is Rush Hour (the movie).
Here’s the Impactor mini:
Awesome: The Joe-Angle Lockdown build. The last segment with Cage tearing Matt Morgan’s T-shirt revealing him to be #5.Border toss on Jimmy Rave (!!!!!!!).
Good: The LAX /MCMG against Rock and Rave and Monsters match. Rhino/Cage v Styles /Tomko. Sharkboy v Skipper. Sting v James Storm.
Super Stupid: Traci Brooks v Banks done to push of all people Sharmell. Booker T drawn into a stupid story line. Robert Roode wasted. The backwards killer RELLIK does a promo.
Stupid: Kong-Saeed full blown interview, not funny like before.
Funny: Eric Young, Kurt Angle segment -“I’m the only superhero here”
LMAO funny: Black Machismo about to kiss Val when Sonjay pops up from the water. Machismo-“Sonjay, where’s the snake”
Cool Moment: Curry Man [ ! ] backstage dance with Crystal.
Get ready for the Consequences.

superb blog, you write very well.i must disagree with you on the fact that joe’s build is good, maybe it’s good but it can definitely be better especially if he’s gonna be the champ.
April 4th, 2008 at 9:03 am
p.s-rush hour 1 was awesome, didn’t like part 2 that much,3 was good though.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
i liked rush hour 2,lockdown is turning to be awesome, will certainly order it.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
The funniest thing for me is when Rhino GORE! GORE! GORE! the ref.. I think it is cool that there is gonna be that queen of the ring match!
It majorly sucks that Primetime isn’t in the xscape match! but he did do an amazing move last night. It was like a leg drop to the back of sharkboy’s head and it totally turned him inside out!
FINNALY MATT MORGAN IS GONNA WRESTLE!!!
April 4th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
I watched Impact last night and honestly, it sucked. Here’s why:
The whole Matt Morgan thing was cool but why the hell go that route? Why have him add a 5th member to each team, make people think he’s on Team Tomko’s side, then have him turn on them & join Team Cage? Why not have him on Cage’s team to start with? Whys is Matt Morgan running the show? He’s done this twice before and it’s gotten Cornette into “trouble.” Gotta love that booking crew! Queen of the Cage? Please. The Lethal & Dutt stuff is boring me to death. TNA was horrible this week.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
WoW !-Lot’s of feedback -Thanks Sunny,I agree things can always be better but right now it ain’t that bad.
Alohaboyk91-Like you I have no idea why Primetime isn’t in that match,in my opinion they could make it a spot fest with the whole X division involved.
Luke-C’mon dont use your head so much.I think they did the Morgan thing now because they needed 6 weeks to fill, still that isn’t an explanation.I don’t understand the route but I’ll keep quiet till it starts to suck.It was entertaining nonetheless.
Lethal + Dutt=short and funny, this week was hilarious. They’ll stop that angle after Lockdown when Dutt wins.If it continues after that,I’ll bury them, don’t worry.
Queen of the cage-That sucks, along with booker T’s match.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Don’t use my head so much? Apparently, the creative team doesn’t use their heads at all. Morgan in charge again after it’s gotten Cornette in “trouble” twice already? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, WTF?
April 4th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
TNA often pays the price for it’s stupidity, any company that invents Black reign and the Backwards killer RELLIK deserves 1st place in stupidity.
Don’t try to make sense of non-sense,that’s the point.Logic has little or no place in pro wrestling!TNA proves it from time to time but for this PPV they’ve done a decent job.
April 4th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Logic does have a place in pro wrestling. If not, you’re insulting your fans.
To go along with your awards for stupidity:
Elevation X
Backwards Battle Royals
the Drinking title
Vince F’ing Russo (he might need to be #1)
April 4th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Of course logic has a place in pro wrestling,it would serve the industry better if it was used more often.
That statement wasn’t used to insult fan intelligence,it was to show the state the industry is in today.
TNA isn’t the only one with bad logic,WWE does stupid things too:
Khali becomes champ,Bunnymania, repetitive B.S matches over and over….,Edge loves Vickie, etc, etc.
April 4th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Yes, they do stupid things but they at least do it logically.
Khali becomes champ - he won a battle royal. They didn’t just hand him the belt.
BunnyMania - They have a Diva do Playboy every year. It wasn’t like they pulled it out of their ass.
Edge loves Vickie - She “helped” him get back into the title picture.
WWE explains why they do stuff. TNA on the other hand, doesn’t. Drink that Kool-Aid!
April 4th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
I think the addition of Morgan was good. It gave some extra exitement to the show, they can’t brawl every week, that would be boring. Now that the teams are complete, i’m curious as to what TNA will do next week.
I think the Joe/Angle build is good, I don’t like the MMA stuff, but i guess that’s the new hype now, and UFC is also on Spike. But keeping your champion and contender from fighting every week before the big match, is original. It creates an air of anticipation about the final confrontation.
And it doesn’t matter if Khali won the championship cleanly, the guy shouldn’t even be wrestling, let alone win the belt. That was just insanely stupid. I haven’t heard anybody say that that was a good idea, people just don’t care about Khali. If you can’t speak english, fine, but don’t start screaming in your native speak, nobody understands it. What’s the point?
The thing I don’t get is why does Raisha Saeed need to wrestle? She is Kong’s manager, and Kong certainly doesn’t need her help in the ring. She isn’t going to wrestle in a Burka, is she?
Speaking of things I don’t get, why is Sharmell being pushed as someone who likes to whip people? Couldn’t she just be Booker’s wife/valet? TNA already has alot of real female wrestlers, they don’t need women who can’t wrestle. And the wipping thing needs to end. Now. One time made sense because the match whas a whipping match, but now it looks like Sharmell gets off on whipping people…
April 5th, 2008 at 6:39 am
Fudge-Don’t know if raisha saeed wrestling will be a bad thing.
Luke-There’s no logic in stupidity, hence it’s stupid. The wwe spoonfeeds us crap over and over and because they’re the bigger company we’re forced to take that.
TNA meanwhile does stupidity at least trying something new.
kool-aid,kool-aid,kool-aid
April 5th, 2008 at 6:48 am
to add,
hhh was handed the world title when the brands split while orton was handed it at no mercy.Kane on the other hand was #1 contender when edge got injured and still Khali becomes champ.
Wrestlemania has now had 2 consecutive matches with girls who can’t wrestle, but they look good hence they’re in the company.Better still wwe makes money from them because they’re naked.
WORST:at the same event where HBK and Bret Hart went 60 minutes or Austin defeated HBK,Yeah great logic!!!!
Edge caught up kissing Vickie week after week when he’s chief heel, they could have certainly done that better.
Wrestling fans require no explanation for stupidity,WWE underestimates it’s fans and feeds us the same crap.TNA tries new things which end up being stupid.
More kool-aid
April 5th, 2008 at 7:10 am
Yeah, i’m gonna have to agree with you there, Adit.
Because WWE has no competition, they think that stuff they do doesn’t have to make sense, because we have to watch anyway.
And with TNA there are stupid things, but at least they leave you wondering what they will do next.
April 5th, 2008 at 9:51 am
Exactly.
April 5th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
Adit totally agree
The reason y I love TNA is because u don’t kno what the heck is going to happen!!
WWE is so predictable that it gets old QUICK!!
TNA shocks u and sometimes leaves u scratching your head but thats what makes it AWESOME Plus TNA does moves 10 times better than WWE!!!!!!!!!
and y is backwards battle royals so bad I mean its innovated!!
April 6th, 2008 at 1:46 am
hey luke, if u want to make sense out of the sometimes illogical, i will help u with this one. the logic of having morgan act as if he is helping team tomko by adding storm then to later have cage reveal morgan himself as fifth member….it first helps give team tomko an overconfidence with it being first 5on4. next when tomkos teams guard was down, adding morgan to cages team not only evens the odds, psyches out team tomko going into ppv, but also shows how crafty and what level cage would go to to get into tomkos head! if thats not enough logic for u luke, u r apparently not into suspended disbelief, which is prowrestling! r u really going to try to make logic out of a sport that when one wrestler throws the other into the ropes, and the guy actually bounces back off the ropes to his oponent? stop overanalyzing and just love one of the best swerves in tna like 98 percent of us just did! and what a way to finally debut morgan! i love his finisher on aj!
April 6th, 2008 at 5:32 am
There is no doubt that wrestling in TNA and ROH is simply BETTER than wwe.
April 6th, 2008 at 5:59 am
i 2 shall agree with adit + tna has 1 thing the wwe does not have —–CURRY MAN!
April 6th, 2008 at 6:00 am
he’s hot,he’s spicy,he tastes great
CURRY MAN..
April 6th, 2008 at 9:28 am
i defiantly agree with Luke Tna has stupid storylines like the marriage and divorces with angle
and styles while the wwe has story lines that actually make sense in edge and taker or Orton, cena, and H
April 6th, 2008 at 9:54 am
TNA is better than WWE? Please, layoff the Kool-Aid. The constant bickering between teams & couples isn’t something I want to see. I don’t want to see old guys who can’t draw money in the ring trying to wrestle (Nash, 3D, James Gang, Steiner). I don’t want to see silly-ass wrestling (Shark Boy, Super Eric, but Curry Man is ok).
Let’s look at this. Karen & Kurt Angle have been bickering for God knows how long. They’ve teased separation after separation. She even showed up the last time Angle fought Joe with a “boyfriend” only to turn on Joe (Like we didn’t see that coming from a mile away). I honestly don’t see how people can defend TNA with it’s dumbass storylines. I’ll give them credit. The build for Joe-Angle 45869 has been great. Everything though, sucks.
April 6th, 2008 at 10:16 am
I actually agree with both of you,I have HATED Kurt/Karen/AJ from the beginning. It is a waste of time and resources. My previous blogs state that implicitly.
I’ve also hated Nash in an In ring role and have criticized them for it and will continue to do so.Steiner is allright,no problems there except he’s a lot slower.
Wrestling wise the TNA guys do a way better job than the WWE,storyline wise -both suck.
April 6th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Yeah man, I just love seeing Black Reign & Rellik wrestle! They give me such goosebumps with their moves! Oh, and that storyline about Roode & Booker fighting about something is sooooo much better than Edge going against Undertaker at ‘Mania trying to end his streak!!!
Please.
April 6th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Yeah, like that’s all they got.phhhh, frivolous argument for the sake of one.
April 6th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Now Luke, you are being unfair. You are comparing WWE’s best with TNA’s worst. Compare TNA’s best with WWE’s best. Or TNA’s worst with WWE’s worst (khali)…
April 6th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Then who do they have?
April 7th, 2008 at 5:19 am
The MCMG,JAY LETHAL,SONJAY DUTT,SAMOA JOE,KURT ANGLE,BOOKER T,PETEY WILLIAMS,JOHNNY DEVINE,ROBERT ROODE,CHRISTIAN,AJ,Consequences Creed,Christopher Daniels,LAX,Sting,Steiner,Jimmy Rave….
Now you’ll probably say, they suck because we can’t see them wrestling and that’s coz they’re booking stinks.
As said earlier(Refer #15 onwards)
The booking is often stupid, agreed, but the product is still more entertaining .
April 7th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Luke Parks probably thought Undertaker vs. Kane was an awesome match on SmackDown. Now you wanna talk about not making sense? Well first of all the whole ECW title change in 10 seconds is self explanitory, but now brother vs. brother in a non-title vs. non-title match, for what? Haven’t we seen Undertaker vs. Kane for the millionth time since 1997? OH WAIT! I was wrong! It’s different because it’s WWE, it’s just that simple. Let’s take Old-taker along with The Big Red “Ive had more WWF(E) personalities than Mick Foley” Machine Kane and throw them into yet another boring match to fight for nothing except for Edge and Chavo to come out and interfear…wow…that was amazing. But it’s OK simply because it’s WWE doing it. But let’s take Joe and Angle for the world title. Joe trains with an MMA style, Angle clears his mind by letting Karen go, now he can concentrate to compete. Lock them up in a cage and let them have at it. Two young guys that can deliver each and everytime. But nope, can’t happen, just can’t. It’s simply dump simply because it’s not WWE doing it for the millionth time.
April 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Vickie Guerrero explained that on Friday night. Apparently you didn’t watch that. Did you not read what I said about Joe-Angle? How it was a great concept this time around? Apparently not. I thought we had gotten rid of these loser trolls.
April 8th, 2008 at 3:04 am
Hey,Come on-don’t call him that ,he’s only making a point.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
A guy using my initials targeting me is making a point? Adit, you might not have been around in the past when we would have one-time-visit trolls coming in, attacking people, never to be heard from again.
April 9th, 2008 at 3:47 am
hmmm,something to consider
April 9th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Well my take on last weeks TNA..some good alot bad period. the Matt Morgan “flip” was gr8 cuz hes a gr8 athlete and its aobut time we get to se him wrestle.Luke i can both agree and disagree with ur “opinion”,as Adit and a few others told ya take it with a grain of salt and dont get pissy when anothers persons opinion differs.Adit another Gr8 Blog as usual, this weekend sjhould prove interesting hopefully.
and also Luke dont call ppl names cuz u dislike wut they gotta say mate thats just plain out RUDE. im not the best to say nething on that subject but geez take a pill dewd he/she is allowed an opiniomn as well.
i totally agree with E1 on TNA’s bookings alot of good talent oging 2 waste cut the booker needs a swift kick in the a**.dont dog those older Wrestlers tho they still have their moments.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:10 am
johnny cash leave your guns at home…
How do you come up with so much material to blog with?…
