Welcome kids and readers of all ages to One Night Blog. I first want to start off by saying: I love you guys. Life’s been hectic lately with school restarting, trying to find and keep a job, and I’m probably going to be starting an MMA class soon. So with all that going on the time to write this gets scarcer and scarcer but when you guys show your support on the comment board week after week whether it’s 50 comments or 15 I read and appreciate each and everyone one of them. You guys are like a little cult.
First off my first story is just a link. But what it says is that I’m right and everyone who says otherwise is wrong wrong wrong. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x63c8e_john-cena-samoa-joe-teaches-learns_sport
I’m super psyched that we have new WWE Tag Team Champions. Primo stole the show last week with his high flying entourage. I’m happy that Carlito is back and running. Ryder and Hawkins are good wrestlers but their reign was just boring and stale. Primo and Carlito will be great as champions and hopefully bring back pride to the tag team scene.
This week I’m going to highlight a superstar he is defiantly one of WWE’s top 20 greatest assets: Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin is a great wrestler with the greatest athletic ability in the WWE. He is also a great charismatic heel. Well kind of. He can surely draw heat. His promos though are somewhat lacking. I think WWE is trying to improve this by having those little segments before he comes out for a match. I think the main problem is probably his tone of voice. I know that sounds stupid but if you sound monotonous for a whole two minutes nobody wants to listen to you. Benjamin should be a world champion one day despite this disadvantage.
Well Ladies and Gentlemen ECW has gone prime time. Let’s see what change that might have. Hopefully nothing as ECW is kicking ass lately. And this is also the first time I type as I watch the show live so if I miss something give me a break.
The video rolls and the pyro explodes. We are welcomed to the show by Matt Striker and returning at ringside Todd Grisham.
Long and Tiffany are standing in the ring. God Tiffany is hot. Long looks happy. Even happier must be the live crowd as the ECW Champion Matt Hardy comes out to a huge pop. Hardy gold should be on your shoulder not your waist. Out next is Mark Henry and Tony Atlas. They basically have a debate (better than last week’s one). Henry brings up the Triple Threat this Friday. The classic what’s start. I love when the crowd starts it. Henry says he’ll lose this Friday. Which he probably will. He brings up the fact that he hasn’t been pinned. Hardy chants start as Hardy says he’ll face this Friday and No Mercy. Hardy then talks about representing ECW and the fans. He then goes to call Atlas a sell out. Henry wants to start No Mercy right now. M&M2 come out to interrupt. They bitch about having to wrestle each other and call the match MOTY. It was good but not the MOTY. They call Bourne and Ortiz nerds (watch Dirt Sheet) and want them in the ring. Long then announces M&M2 and Mark Henry vs. Ortiz, Bourne, and Matt Hardy. Good opening segment. Mark Henry is getting a lot better on the stick.
Commercial airs for the 1-2 punch on MyNetwork TV. I’m so psyched for the show I’m not reading the spoilers.
Jack Swagger comes out all psyched on bobbing his head to his music. Looks like he’s still on the jobber kick as his opponent is Lenny Lane who looks like Hacksaw and Jarrett’s child. Swagger starts off with some impressive mat wrestling taking down his opponent. Nice waist lock take down and then a gut buster. This guy just is amazing. Lenny makes a quick comeback but then a knee to the face. Swagger picks him up and the power bomb for the win. Swagger’s moves are so unique because nobody in WWE has ever done them before. He’s the best acquisition since Evan Bourne. They need people like this who bring new moves to the ring. After the match he hits a neck breaker on Lenny off the ropes. Mr. ECW then hits the ring. Again I’m tired of Dreamer just going into feuds because he wants to protect his own kind. Dreamer’s match is next.
Striker and Grisham go over the historic WWE week. Be sure to check your local listings for MyNetworkTV. Also No Mercy is this Sunday.
Knox comes out to do battle with Dreamer. What number time are they meeting for now? Still isn’t entertaining. Knox takes over Dreamer to start with blows to the gut and a shoulder block. Misses an elbow and Dreamer takes over. Dreamer tries for a top rope move but gets clothes lined. Standing suplex while Striker opens up the wounds of every Mets fan. I’m ashamed to say they play in New York. Headlock by Knox. Dreamer makes a comeback Kick to the chin and a bulldog and swinging neck breaker. Dreamer is actually a good wrestler and can hit a variety of moves. Knox knocked into the turnbuckle and then Dreamer rams into the post. Knox hits his finisher for the win. Swagger then comes back and hits his power bomb. Swagger’s finally getting booed. You can’t have a guy like that with no reaction or a tweener. Hmm I give it four week before these two are in an Extreme Rules match.
Statue of Favre is shown on the shot of the stadium. How great did he play on Sunday?
A WrestleMania throughout the years video plays. Some great memories are shown. Being interested in video production this was a great video. How’s this supposed to promote anything related to this Thursday or Friday? No Mercy card then ran through. Striker references the bible.
Miz comes out first for out main event along with Morrison. Weird to see Morrison come out to Miz’s music. Usually it’s JoMo on the titantron. Henry then comes out looking pissed off as usual. Bourne returns to ECW coming out first for the faces. I think he should stay on here for the majority. Out comes Ricky Ortiz next. I’m starting to take a shine to this guy. Out comes Matt Hardy with the belt on his shoulder like it should be. Bourne starts off with Miz. These two had two great matches. Miz gets Bourne in the corner and works over him until the knee to the face. Shoulder block and then a spinning heel kick by Bourne. Ortiz tagged in and gives Miz a waist lock take down. Shot to the throat by Miz to Ricky. Morrison tagged in and works over him with fists. Nice shoulder block by Ortiz. Alley oop bomb that flips Morrison onto his ribs. Ortiz really is showing some talent as of late. Morrison is great at selling. Bourne in and whips JoMo into corner. Miz trips up Evan and is hit from behind. Submission by JoMo on Bourne. Bourne tries for a roundhouse kick but JoMo ducks and hits his own. Miz now in and works over Bourne on the ropes. Leg Drop and a failed pin attempt. Miz stretches the neck of Bourne. Bourne is also good at selling. Nice standing hurracarana by Bourne and is able to tag in Hardy. Hardy works over Miz with the usual routine. Backdrop to Morrison and tries for bulldog. Stops and double clotheslines MNM. Henry comes in and Ortiz and Bourne join Hardy in ring.
Hardy is working over Morrison with an armbar after the break. These two would have a MOTY if they feuded. Ortiz comes in and works on the arm of Morrison. I’ve never seen a heel play damsel in distress. Hardy comes in and hits the 2nd rope thing on Morrison’s arm. Bourne comes in and plays Jeff Hardy as he his Poetry in Motion. Ortiz then goes to work on Morrison’s arm and then Bourne stomps on Morrison’s arm. Seriously when has a heel been like this in a tag match before? Nice takedown by Bourne. Ortiz in and then takes over for Morrison as Henry comes and makes a pancake out of him. Miz then comes in and works on the curly head of the man who’s undefeated. Ortiz tries to get a tag and then goes for a sunset flip. Clothesline by Miz. Morrison then comes in with stiff shots to Ricky. Chinlock by Morrison combined with a leg scissor. Electric chair on Morrison. Man this is a great tag match. Miz tagged in before Ortiz got a chance. Morrison quickly back in and gets a headlock. Cheap shot to Hardy. Ortiz tags in Bourne and man oh man this guy is just great. He hits a springboard hurracarana on Morrison and then kicks galore. Springboard kick and then double knee to jaw. Hardy goes onto Miz clothesline by Ortiz and now Henry is in. Bourne caught for World’s Strongest Slam for the win.
Henry and MNM just stand victorious as Hardy looks pissed. Great match by all 6 people. Bourne is just absolutely phenomenal and Ortiz is stepping it up. The show was good. I say a 7/10. I know I did more of a Chris Jacks style today. Well people the next time you see me will be the Talent Exchange. Peace Out Everyone.

Great blog Anthony. You rock! ECW was pretty good this week hopefully it will continue the nice trend they are on. The superstar initiative seems to be working and carrying the show somewhat. Throw in a good feud between Hardy/Henry and I will be glad to watch ECW.
P.S. I guarantee Jack Swagger will be ECW champ within the next year.
September 30th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
Hey Ant, the gutwrench powerbomb Swagger does was popularized by Dr. Death Steve Williams if I’m not mistaken. So some of the moves have been done before, it’s just been a while since we’ve seen them.
3 matches tonight. Ok. 1 was a squash and I already knew the outcome of Dreamer/Knox. The main event was well done.
I feel the whole Nerds thing is wack though. The Dirt Sheet was pretty unfunny this past week. MnM needs something else instead of repeatingly shouting “nerds”
October 1st, 2008 at 12:18 pm
P.S. Shane you’re not mistaking, it was called the “Dr. Bomb” and Erick Stevens does it today in ROH and FIP (using the same name).
October 1st, 2008 at 12:25 pm
Well i for 1 think your blog is almost average. What the hell does this mean “Hardy gold should be on your shoulder not your waist.”?
Shelton will NEVER be a world champ. But im not shocked you think he should be as i remember you tried to convince me what a great champ Punk was going to be.
Get off that high horse you been sittin on!
October 1st, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Oh and Shane id bet you dont find “nerd” funny because the are talking about guys like YOU………… NERD!
October 1st, 2008 at 2:03 pm
wow tim, that’s mature…. btw it was realy childish of them and made me say WTF?!
October 1st, 2008 at 2:43 pm
So are you saying Punk was a bad champ? If so can you explain why the ratings didn’t fall through the floor? They were fairly consistent so you can’t say he failed as champ. Plus let’s remember that ultimately you do what creative tells you to do. Not everybody is HHH or Taker with say in what they get.
I agree. The nerd stuff was pretty stupid. It made no sense. Maybe I’m just old, but Bourne and Ortiz are not what was classified as nerds back in the day. Maybe if they had Eugene in the mix I could understand the nerd stuff but it made no sense and if that’s the best they can come up with then it just backs up what I’ve been saying all along. Morrison SUCKS on the mic. He sounds forced.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Yea punk was a bad champ, he never beat anyone. And he lost the title without anyone beating him. So i would say thats a pretty poor title run.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Okay I’m finally here for some feedback:
Josh: ECW has been great as of late. THe news superstars such as Bourne and Swagger are great. Swagger would make a good champion.
Shane: Thanks for that info. I like the whole nerds thing and find it funny.
Tim: It means that the belt just looks unnatural on his waist. It looks weird. Hardy has unproportional hips (true fact) which might attribute to that.
THe whole Punk deal will be in my pre-show notes next week. And Guy where’s your sub-blog or even ONP?
October 1st, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Anthony, what exactly do you mean by that John Cena video showing you are right?… Because if it’s meant to mean Cena sucks then the fact he was still training at the time should probably say something to ya hmmm? Was your blog perfect when you started…. hell no it wasn’t:-)… as Gregory helms would put it, I’m just saying!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:38 pm
And I agree. He had a poor title run. But that’s not what you said. You sid he was a bad champ. So which is it? Was he a bad champ or was it a poor title run? A poor title run does not make for a bad champ. Otherwise you must think Matt Hardy was a bad champ. Because the last I checked he had an extremely poor run with the US title. Yet Santino, who is a bad champ, is having a fairly decent run with the IC title. So you must think he’s a great champ.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Yes Bates all those guys you list are piss poor and bad champs. Santinos a joke.
Punk was a BAD champ because he never beat anyone which is why he had a piss poor title run.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:03 pm
I posted the videos as you said, guess since there were links in it it was deleted. watch my videos on youtube (nick: guylfe) there are 2 moonsault and 1 SSP videos in there, all performed by me. feel free to comment and if its negative WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE??? (feels good to say that after a long haitus), the ONP question was who do you think will go to raw or SD! first from the talent initiative - Ortis, Sydal or SWAGGAH? and i mentioned getting “i love you” emails from ONP fans and I told them to stop that, and I said i know I’m full of myself and i like it basically. (the PS was after something obviously)
October 1st, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Good question Guy. I’d say Bourne because he already has the foot in the door with Rey Rey. Looks like I’ll just talk about champions in general now next week.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Punk, Santino, and Hardy are nowhere near being bad champs, tim. Their runs with the titles sucked Master Bates said. Punk and Hardy are very talented wrestlers, who are they to contradict and go against what creative has planned for their title run. Santino can actually wrestle, but we wouldn’t know that because they don’t require him to. His character is not to be seen as a sound wrestler with all these techniques. So tim, be the heel here all you want but at least be a heel who knows the difference between poor champ and poor title run. Poor champ for example: Great Khali.
And as for your comment towards me being a NERD, if that’s the best you can do, you need to come chill with me and the students I teach so you can learn how to properly rag on someone.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:23 pm
I wasnt trying to “rag” on you shane. I was just calling spade a spade. So put some more tape on your glasses and continue to head up the chess club.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Tim, that was a sophisticated BURN on your expense, you’re not suppose to actually respond to those.
October 1st, 2008 at 5:07 pm
well checkmate bitch!
lol, anyway, to answer your question guy, i will agree with Anthony and say Bourne because he’s already been to RAW. Now if they were to ever bring the Cruiserweight back and have it on ECW, then I wouldn’t want Bourne to leave Tuesday nites. Ortiz I see being a tag champ someday, Swagger seems like championship material
October 2nd, 2008 at 12:47 am
Agreed. Bourne is one of the top “Rookies”, if not the best, this year. Course I can only pic what his time in ROH was like.
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:29 am
it seems to be a unanimous decision, 4-0-0 in the favor of bourne. since so many people were active this week, heres a second poll (yes, 2 in 1 week!): WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION WITH CM PUNK AND WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT? (already have 2 oppinions from Tim and Shane)
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:35 am
*by what do you think about it i meant what do you think his situation should be, sorry if it seemed repetetive
October 2nd, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Punk was over with the fans but wasn’t given the chance to real prove how good a champ he could have been. But I think hes still getting a fair push with the feud with Orton. Heck, I could see Puck and Orton in a title match next year.
BTW Guy, saw your vids. Not bad man. Your SSP looked alittle off but the moonsault was cool. Though I saw a clip of Bourne pulling off a standing moonsault from on an opponents back while they were kneeling down. Some of the moves he can pull off are insane.
October 2nd, 2008 at 6:30 pm
yea Guy i watched your youtube submissions as well. man i really feel old when i hear and see how yound some of you are.
anyway, i did this article at this website comparing WWE stars to MLB teams, if you have the free time check it out, bleacherreport.com/articles/64197-how-are-wwe-superstars-like-mlb-teams
October 3rd, 2008 at 5:36 am
thx you guys, the SSP was off because of room limitations, if i can I’ll upload 1 from my wrestling school where i have lots of room, i may even shoot my moonsault-SSP combo. because of holydays the next training is on the 15th
i think punk is really being underlooked, and unless we see team Punk vs. team Orton at SS i am going to be pissed off as hell.
October 4th, 2008 at 4:52 am
Guy, to your first ONP, it’s definitely Evan Sydal. To the second ONP, it’s not a bad postion for Punk to be in. he’s still competing with the main event talent. And, in all likelihood, is going to main event a big 4 PPV. I don’t care what you say, the traditional Survivor series match is now a main event at that PPV. Not like back when The Rock debuted and they had 4 or 5 each year.
I was suprised to hear that Jack Swagger is from Perry. I used to live pretty close to the KS/OK border so I know firsthand that Perry is part of a regional HS wrestling hotbed. Not to mention being about an hour away form one of the top collegiate wrestling programs in the country(Oklahoma State). I think it would have really benefitted him if he were paired up with JBL as they are pretty much under the same gimmick.
October 4th, 2008 at 5:08 am
By the way, does anyone know where to find that WrestleMania vid? Like Anthony, I think it’s awesome. Best one I’ve seen since the one they did for the WWE Title match at WM 24.
