By Anthony O'Reilly on August 27th, 2008
Hello everybody and welcome to another award winning edition of One Night Blog. I am your host for today: Anthony O’Reilly. My first topic of tonight does not concern ECW, WWE, TNA, or anything like that. But it is very good news. I got my laptop back!! I know this affects you in no way what so ever but what this means is that I’ll be able to get blogs up sooner and faster. Also I’d like to welcome Kendra to the WNW blog family. Kendra will take Adit’s place and do the TNA blogs every week. I have a few more things to talk about so let’s get to it.
Firstly I want to briefly talk about the departure of Gail Kim from TNA and her imminent return to WWE. Gail Kim is perhaps one of the best female wrestlers out there. As both a former WWE Women’s Champion and the first Knockout Champion I have a feeing there is big things for her planned either as a face on the Raw division or a heel in the Smackdown division.
I’m ultra psyched for the premiere of R- Truth this Friday on Smackdown. He’ll be a big name one day in this business no doubt. But for now he’s got to fulfill the stereotype that superstars that are brought in by vignettes will just squash an entire roster full of jobbers before they can get anywhere. Not being the biggest TNA fan I’ve been watching a few matches of his to see what to expect. And man I can see he’s got a lot to offer.
I really feel sorry for former WWE referee Wes Adams. During the main event between Morrison and Miz vs. Hardy and Henry Wes mistakenly made the three count on Morrison thus ending the match. For those who don’t know refs are supposed to count pins like their a shoot meaning that they can’t stop a three count. Miz was supposed to stop the pin by interrupting it but he couldn’t get there in time and then Morrison tried to kick out but it was too late. As a result Adams got the future endeavors wish. I just feel sorry for him. So in a new feature I’ll be doing every week, your question of the week is do you think it’s the ref’s fault for counting Morrison out or Miz’s for not getting to the pin in time or Morrison’s for not kicking out?
Everybody knows that I am not the biggest John Cena fan. However I would never wish harm against anybody. It’s a shame that he got hurt. For those who don’t know Cena has a herniated disc in his neck. John Cena is a machine. He keeps going and going and just doesn’t stop for anything. However he is a human and the human body can only take so much punishment. Just like last time people are saying its worst then expected. I have a feeling he’ll make another Royal Rumble return. The bright side of this is that this’ll leave the Raw main event open for a few months. I wish him a full and healthy recovery.
I want to plug something outside of this website. Guy’s listen to WrestleZone Radio every week at 9 p.m. eastern time. It’s a great show and it’s a lot of fun to be in the chat room. It’s hosted by Richard Gray and Ryan Clark. You get so much news in there and sometimes Richard will spoil some Premium News in there. You can also phone in and ask questions about anything in Pro Wrestling. My Tuesday isn’t complete until I tune into it. I’ll be under the name of OneNightBlog if any of you want to PM me. You can reach it through this website or it’s also at wzrradio.com.
For the second night in a row WWE action is being broadcasted on the Sci-Fi network. Let’s get into tonight’s show.
The video rolls and the pyro explodes as we are welcomed to another edition of ECW by our hosts Todd Grishmam and Matt Striker. Tiffany is standing on the ramp and introduces us to the General Manager of ECW: Theodore Long. Long comes out to a nice pop and starts dancing with Tiffany. Supposedly he has a major announcement. They announce that ECW will have its own Championship Scramble because whatever SD! and Raw could do they can do better. I’ll agree with them on the Raw part but SD!’s the A show. They will be qualifying matches all throughout the night. A lot of people have a problem with three scrambles but I don’t.
Speaking of the qualifying match Matt Hardy comes out first for the first match. He is followed by the Shaman of Sexy. Here’s your dream match people. Did Striker call Morrison MoJo? ECW’s have had some great opening matches as of late and this is without a doubt one of the best. These two brought out their A game today. They even pulled out a few moves we haven’t seen in a while including Morrison’s split leg corkscrew moonsault. Something about these two superstars that they can bring the best out of any superstar. A lot of Twist of Fate and neck breaker attempts all throughout the match. Hardy wins it with a surprise Twist of Fate. He qualifies for the ECW scramble. Now I’m stoked that Hardy’s in the scramble but we could’ve had Morrison in it too. We could’ve gotten him instead of some of the people who will qualify later on.
Mark Henry bitches about being in the scramble because he doesn’t have to be pined. Long says life’s not fair and that three championships could change hands. Could Henry’s be one of them? Later on we’re shown the Raw Rebound of how Cena got injured.
Back from commercial and the other half of MNM’s music hits as The Miz tries to qualify for the Scramble at Unforgiven which will be in his hometown. His opponent: Evan Bourne. This is another great match as both superstars were fast and showed a lot of chain wrestling. Bourne continues to display his great aerial offense against The Miz. Miz shows some impressive offense against Bourne. Miz has evolved so much since his days on Smackdown. Bourne hits another beautiful standing moonsault. Bourne misses a frankensteiner causing him to go into the capital of Thailand and then allowing Miz to hit the Reality Check. As with the last result I’m glad Miz is in but couldn’t we also have Evan Bourne? Bourne would’ve made that scramble great. For the record this is not Bourne’s first loss as Vinnie Mac would want you to believe. He lost to Knox a few weeks ago. The hometown hero goes to Unforgiven.
Back from commercial and Chavo Guerrero comes out with the ever gormless Bam Neely. Out next of course is Mr. ECW. An all right match here. Wasn’t a squash but it wasn’t anything like the previous two matches. At one point in the match Chavo knocks Dreamer into Bam making Bam fall off the apron. How pathetic do they want to make Bam Neely look? Dreamer’s been impressing me as of late with his offense. I hope he gets out of jobberville. Chavo’s good but I feel that they could’ve let Bourne or Morrison go over him.
WWE then plugs Smackdown Your Vote. I’m one year short of voting this year but if I had to choose it’d be Obama. I feel he has what it takes to pull the nation out of the dumps. They also go over the Scramble rules.
The long anticipated Knox vs. Finlay will become a qualifying match for the scramble. They recap all the violence that has occurred between these two. This match was everything I thought it would be. It was hard hitting and just a classic slug fest. With Finlay in the Scramble it seems that this is the end of the rivalry. Which is a shame because it was a very good match in my opinion. Finlay uses a I’m not gonna try it for the win. Afterwards Finlay dances with Hornswoggle. Again Morrison or Bourne would’ve been better then Finlay but Finlay will be great in it too.
So the scramble will be Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay vs. The Miz vs. Chavo Guerrero. This is the second best scramble behind SD!’s. A great show tonight that mainly focused on pure wrestling. With the exception of Chavo vs. Mr. ECW every match was great. ECW gets an 8/10
Â
Next week I might be a little late. I’m a Campus Minister in my school and I got to help the freshman get into the high school routine. Â

Great job Anthony, and a great FCW too.I too wish Morrison and Bourne got in,but we got some styles tomatch against one another…Finlay and Henry:hard hitters.Finlay, and Chavo:technical wrestling.Hardy and Chavo:high flyers.Hardy and Miz:youth and speed.I think it will be good

Striker called Morrison JoMo. Again it just shows why Stirker is becoming one my favourite announcers of the past 5 years, just shy of JBL.
ECW was a pretty loaded show this week. Every match (sort of) was good and entertaining.
What a way to kick off ECW! I mean with Tiffany.
The ECW Scramble will be good and it made me realise how loaded ECW is right now. Think about it: Miz, Morrison, Knox, Hardy, Finlay, Henry, Bourne, Chavo, Dreamer, Ortiz and I think that you could even stretch to Super Crazy.
It’s a shame that two feuds have ended in Bourne/Chavo and Finlay/Knox but they can always have another go at them after the Scramble, hey perhaps Bourne will interfere and cost Chavo the match or Knox will interfere and cost Finlay the match.
ECW got everything right for me this week. I give it the better part of 8/10 and a predicted rating of 1.5 - 1.7.

Extremely good ECW this week. Some great matches and segments. Even IF Raw hadn’t sucked big this week, ECW would still possibly be the second best show of the week. Let’s get to it.
Matt vs. Morrison…MAN! Just shows how good Matt is when put in a match with someone his own size, not to mention how good Morrison is when he brings his A-game. Very absorbing and well worked match, and quite possibly match of the week so far. Sucked to see Matt go over Morrison, but that’s life, err, booking. You become a MoFo (Morrison Follower) too!
Bourne vs. Miz was equally great. Besides the obvious ownage by Bourne, Miz shows how great of a singles competitor he’s become over time. Very well-balanced match with some slowdown and mat wrestling from Bourne. That bump he took on the turnbuckle looked legitimately painful, and the sell afterwards was just hilarious, not to MENTION Bourne’s sick sell of the Reality Check from the Mizard of Oz. The way he landed would have snapped my stiff back in half. Great work from both guys - ECW is chock full of potential right now, which is more than I can say for Raw.
Chavo Guerrero vs. Dreamer was a pretty good match, with pretty much what you’d expect from non-Extreme Tommy Dreamer. Chavo brought his usual technical greatness to the ring, nice to see. Unpredictable match, I liked that. It had a nice flow, and I could dance to it. Or something. Bam also once again proved he sucks as a bodyguard and has “many endeavours in his future”, if you get me. Good to see Chavo go over, as he can work a pretty good match given the right opponent. The scrambled eggs match is beginning to sizzle.
Finlay vs. Mike Knox was the worst match of the night and legitimately boring at times, due to Knox having no talent. Not even Finlay can make Knox look solid in the ring, and that’s saying something. He also has a lot of endeavours in the future. Finlay tried his best, but either one of the three previous matches would have done better as a main event. Well, Knox at least proved he can’t carry a feud. Get with the firing, Vinnie.
_______________________________
Extremely (pardon the pun) good episode of ECW here, doing what they do best - interesting and balanced match-ups featuring talented guys. Great entertainment, this! Too bad about the Knox/Finlay match, if they’d had something better it would have easily scored a perfect ten in my book.
9/10
August 27th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
ok, HBK, that stable makes no sense in my opinion. what’s the angle there?
Loved the opener on the show. That match should have been the main event. I don’t believe the Finlay/Knox rivalry is over but I hope Bourne faces someone other than Chavo now. Knox might interfere in the scramble but I don’t see them making Bourne costing Chavo anything. Chavo shouldn’t even be an interim champ in my opinion. He’s probably in there to get pinned with 1 second left.
Matt and Morrison could do a 30 minute match and you wouldn’t be bored.
Damn Anthony, you that young? I never really noticed. Always thought you were in college for some reason.
August 27th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Yeah for anyone who cares I’m 17. Last year in High School and I’m ready to party.
HBK- Your feud is only good for promos but they’d suck as a team.
James- I get here on my PSP but I cant comment. How you do that?
ECW represents the best that WWE has to offer. If the ratings increase Sci-Fi should give it another hour. I’m thinking MNM might split soon. There’s a video on WWE.com that shows some animosity building between the two.

1.3? Dman people dont know what they missed. And since everyone loves Matt Hardy so much check this out.

Adit said the same thing when I first started commenting on the blogs and I made a spelling error.I have a Helio phone,it is aka the”Myspace on the go”phone.I can upload videos,photos,MP3 player etc right through my phone. Also works with Facebook,Youtube, and a bunch of other sites.Very handy for getting online info on the go.The stable that hbk mentioned would be comical.Jbl is a”true American”in his opinion(remember him “deporting” the”illegal imigrints”during his fued with Eddie),Chavo with the Mexican heritage,Santino’s Italian heritage, and whatever Duece’s is(I haven’t seen him wrestle much,so I really don’t know much of him).I don’t know how they would be wrestling wise because of their different styles though.
August 27th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Awesome ECW
not that I care, but way to go on getting you’re laptop back.
I see Gail Kim being successful in any brand that she goes to.
I can’t wait to see Ron Killings in action on Friday, I never saw any of his matches, but from the talk here, it sounds like he is a great in ring performer.
Now I feel real bad for Wes Adams getting released. I honestly think that out of Morrison, Miz, and Hardy, and Wes, that Wes had the least to do with the accident. Because as you said, the ref isn’t supposed to stop the count. I think that it was mainly Miz’s fault. He had the biggest role in the ending as he was the one supposed to break it up.
I agree that I am not the biggest Cena fan either, but still, I wish him a speedy recovery.
Wrestlezone radio is awesome! I listened to every edition and it is simply awesome.
I don’t mind the scrambles that much, people are comparing it to the 2 elimination chambers at no way out. elimination chamber matches are HUGE matches, these scramble matches aren’t as big as the chamber matches. Smackdown’s scramble is shaping up to be the best, then ECW, then raw.
Matt Hardy and the shaman of sexy, the tuesday night delight, the guru of greatness, the A- list elitist, John Morrison had a magnificent match. I agree, why couldn’t they of just had Hardy and Morrison in the match?
Miz and Bourne had a great match also, I also think they could’ve had both of these athletes in the scramble.
Chavo vs. Dreamer was an OK match, kind of glad to see Chavo in the title match.
Finlay vs. Knox was also an OK match. I liked the buildup for this match, but I was disappointed with the match itself. Now if they are going to keep this feud going, they need to have Knox cost Finlay the title win, if they are not going to continue this feud, the anticipation was worth nothing.
9/10
This was probably the best ECW in a while, as the show only got a 1.3 TV rating, I feel bad for the people that missed it, and they should probably check out the Hardy- Morrison match.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:25 pm
Morrisons neckbreaker is called the moonlight drive for future ref.
Well nobody has mentioned it but it was nice to see Miz and Bourne go at it, cause Bourne was the first person I saw do the clothesline in the corner where his legs go threw the ropes, and he kinda sits there after he hits you with it. Bourne used to use it in ROH, now the Miz has it in his moveset. Also must say the Miz is a great worker besides his mistake about making the save cause while he was pinning Bourne, he still grabbed his tights just to show that little bit of gusto even though he didn’t have to, made it just a little bit more real.
I don’t think Bourne should have be in the match cause he’s still really fresh in the WWE if he does well is going to get many chances. Finaly and Chavo I can understand becasue they are solid dependable guys. I’m upset with Morrison not being in the match but it could lead to something, but its not like the other guys in there are not capable also. Striker did a great job of putting him over, him and Gris work well together and I’m glad about that.
I think this was a great ECW, I mean it told a story threw the whole show and at the end we had a result. Probably had match of the week in Hardy vs Morrison, and it helped get the idea of having multiple scramble matches across that they will try to outdue each other.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Just got done watching ECW and I must say that I was impressed with how well things were done on there.
Even though I read the spoilers, I was very much into Matt Hardy vs. John Morrison! I thought that was a very well put together match and actually made both competitors look very strong.
As much as I like the tag team of MNM, maybe this will lead to a feud of sorts. With The Miz being in the scramble and JoMo not, it could lead to something interesting.
BTW, I thought that the match between Finlay and Mike Knox was an Extreme Rulez Match??
But yeah, everything on ECW this week was actually quite good. Wish I could say the same for RAW!
August 28th, 2008 at 11:08 am
What the Hell did he just type? Can somebody translate?
ECW was wonderful to watch again. I really think they should have let the Finlay/Knox feud continue. And Chavo is useless on ECW, they really just need to put him on Smackdown and leave him there. I think a much better scramble would have been Henry/Morrison/Miz/Hardy/Bourne. Alas, what could have been.
Ummmm…..to whoever said Hardy was a high flier, Matt Hardy doesn’t really go up that much anymore, but he’s still good enough in the ring that you don’t notice most of the time. I only really notice when he goes to the 2nd turnbuckle instead of the top.
It was nice to have a night where I didn’t have to watch Ortiz wrestle.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:31 am
I am with you Tomas, what the hell did he just type?
Yeah, I have never understood why they continue to call Matt Hardy a high flyer? He only does a moonsault and an elbow off the second rope. I really would not constitute that as high flying.
When Chavo originally came to ECW, it wasn’t that bad of a move. When he won the title, it was actually alright but ever since he lost, he is merely an afterthought.
Ortiz isn’t all that bad. He is just more of a hype man. That’s all. Might be interesting in the future in how things turn out.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
damn ima go on youtube and watch me some ECW cuz each week it looks to be a kick ass show. and hbk ….. learn how to spell plz…. i’m beginning to think ur not even in ur teen years yet.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Yeah. In which case, shouldn’t you be in school, kid?
August 28th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
You have to think that anyone who names themselves on things like this is usually a prepubescent mark.
H.M.- DailyMotion is usually better fr something like watching shows.
JBL might be the best commentator behind J.R. and the father of a burgular. I lol’d when I heard about King’s son
August 28th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Chavo Is Not a multi-time world champ, dont know where you got that idea, he held the ECW title once then got squashed. ECW is truly taking it to the next level, I would rather watch it than RAW, but I really wish the would bring back Extreme rules, at least once a show. I while I am dreaming of things that wont happen
VINCE BRING BACK HEYMAN!!!!!
August 28th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
HK-47, How can you say that the main event was the worst match of the night? Both superstars brought their A-Game. In my opinion their match told a good story. I will admit that it wasn’t the most exciting match of the night because it wasn’t but it was certainly one of the better main events of ECW this month.
August 28th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
stop the sniping on the comment board ppl and what the hell is wrong with being in your 20s and 30s watching wrestling? i’m 24. those in their 20s and 30s were around to see better wrestling storylines than some teenagers might have seen in their lifetime. so HBK, please, grow up and just enjoy the show and blog. we’re all here b/c we enjoy the “sport”. what does age matter?
August 28th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Exactly Shane. It’s not like Dora where you have to grow it out by certain age. If you like wrestling then by God watch it until your in the box.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Why do you have to grow put of Dora, Anthony? Cant we all love it forever, Swiper stop swiping
J/K Couldnt resist
August 28th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
If your in your 20s and 30s, such as many of us are the WWE loves us since we’re the fools with money to order the PPVs and go to the live events.
I’m still cool with Chavo being on ECW, he is the vet heel that is helping put over younger guys like Evan Bourne. Chavo can work pretty much any style of match so no matter who you pair him up with it can be a solid match. If Chavo wasn’t on the show who would you have take his spot?
August 28th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
I want to know when Elijah Burke is coming back I miss the Black Pope. Anyone got any ideas
August 28th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Probably Bourne or Morrison but other than that maybe Dreamer.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
Mike Knox’s “A-Game” is like Bret Hart’s Z-Game. He just has absolutely no wrestling skill whatsoever. Not even Kurt Angle would have been able to pull a good match out of his ass. Why he’s still with the company is a mystery. And ECW always tend to mess up with the main events anyway.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Sorry wrestlingbuff87,I was the one who called Hardy a high flyer. He doesn’t go”up top”much anymore, but I put that there because I am sure he would go”up top”in a match more frequently if a match asked for some top rope moves.I should of explained myself better. And not to bash anybody(which I try never to do),but deadman 16-0…I do not believe Chavo is a multi time world champion if that is what you meant.Maybe in other organizations, but not WCW or WWE.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
im only 16 but i do remember watching wrestling since 97 and even tho i barely understood much (lol) around 99 i began to really enjoy wrestling. i remember being freaked out by kane back then. those were the days. anyway… as the rock would say IT DOESNT MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE to watch wrestling. and how does liking wrestling at an older age (20’s 30’s) mean that you have no life whatsoever? i mean the shows are only 1-2 hours of ur time. And when you think about it back in the day wrestling wasn’t exactly meant for kids…..considering it was the attitude era.
Anthony - yeah i watched several PPVs on that site its really good.
But I WAS able to watch the show on youtube and ppl were right Morrison vs Hardy DID kick ass. Honestly this And I personally like Mike Knox and his brutal wrestling style. His match with Finlay was good in my honest opinion. Like you guys I would have had Bourne and Morrison over Chavo and Finlay but we can’t have everything now can we. Miz vs Bourne was great as well. I’m glad that he’s finally in a PPV as a singles competitor. I’m still sure this will be a great match at Unforgiven.
Even though the build for the Raws Scramble has been the crappiest so far it does have loads of talent within it. Batista can be good if he brings his best to his matches kinda like he did with Cena. Rey Mysterio is a great Highflyer, JBL has definetely upped his game, CM Punk is a great competitor and being a fan of his I know he can always put on a great match. Kane the monster not the Kane that gets buried by Big Daddy V is gonna be in the ring. He can also bring a lot to this match. I personally look forward to this scramble and overall all matches look good. Raw has the more established stars and considering how their are barely any mid carders as of yet on Raw right now compared to SD! besides Santino and Kofi theres really little you can do if you want to have qualifying matches. So I guess things aren’t too bad about the scramble situation.
Hopefully as someone mentioned earlier what T’Lo said could be a possible tease for a tri branded feud for Survivor Series. It would definetely be interesting to watch.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
James - You are fine. I was referring to the commentators. Michael Cole would put over his “high flying abilities” like he was Superman. I have never understood why they do that. Like I said, he has the elbow from a second rope and an awkward moonsault. That to me is not “high flying”
Also, hbk read this:
“well see jbl is the best and he likes duece except wen he debuts u hav got 2 watch dis type dis into google deuce and domino debut santinos santino and chavoo he said he was a world champ even before he won the ecw title and der wud be great promos chavo 2 raw aswell”
Now if you were smoking, and I mean SMOKING, then I would pass that. But after 10 times reading it, I still do not get what the hell you were trying to say. You go from JBL to Deuce and Domino and then Santino and I do not understand what is going on.
BTW, I am 21 years old and have watched wrestling since I was 5. However, I got out of it around 2000 b/c it got so old and predictable b/c of Triple H. Got back into around 2005 and why it is still predictable, it is enjoyable.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:18 am
Heh, hbk(on here) reminds me of a couple past blog readers that caused headaches.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:06 am
Exactly what I was thinking. HBK is the new Tim.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Can anyone help me on convicing HK-47 that Mike Knox is good and that the ECW main event was a good match?
August 29th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
QUESTION OF THE WEEK: I am not siding with the ref for counting the pin but I am not siding with the wrestlers either. Everyone has a job to do in the ring, its the ref’s job to count the pin but it’s the wrestler’s to manipulate what goes on in the ring. If the wrestler can’t get there in time then it is up to the ref to think of something. And in my opinion the ref did the right thing counting the pin. Had he not had counted the pin then the match would have looked like a work and I think that being the professional the ref dicided not to make the match look like a work.
August 29th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
HBK- you say that they dont know its fake. Yet here they are on a website that exposes its fakeness. And its not fake its staged.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
You can’t “convince” me of anything. You can’t turn goat piss into gasoline, and you sure as hell won’t make me acknowledge that snorefest as a good match or Mike Knox than anything other than a guy who was lucky enough to be sexually pleasing to Vince.
August 29th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Man, just watched ECW on WWE.Com and I can say it was a great show. Probably the best of the month in my opinion because the matches were so consistent and no annoying promos in-between.
Matt Hardy vs John Morrison - YES! I’ve been waiting for this for a long time and it did NOT disappoint. One of the best matches this brand has seen in quite some time. I would’ve loved for this match to go longer, but alas it had to end sooner or later. The match flowed so perfectly and I have never been more impressed. Vince should take some notes. THIS is the shit that should be headlining ECW.
Evan Bourne vs The Miz - Remember when I said how badly I wanted to see Hardy/Morrison along with this match? Oh yeah, my wish was granted all right. This was also a great fast pace match. Evan Borune’s high flying moves are simply breathtaking sometimes. He did a standing moonsault where he got such elevation while doing so and delivered a high knee to The Miz on a running start when he was on the top turnbuckle! Great match. Sucks that the Championship Scramble won’t have Bourne or Morrison. Don’t get me wrong, I love Matt Hardy and I like how The Miz has improved as a superstar, but I really would liked seeing Morrison in there and not Miz and Evan would’ve brought a lot to the table. Besides, RAW and SmackDown have little high-flyers. why not add Bourne?
On a side note, I hope these four guys feud with one another. Borune/Miz and Hardy/Morrison. That would make ECW miles better than RAW and SmackDown.
Chavo Guerrero vs Tommy Dreamer - This was a nice little match that wasn’t too long and not too short. Although, I hate that Chavo went over Dreamer in this one. I respect Chavo, but he had a bullshit reign as champion, loses the belt, is off ECW for how long?, comes back and automatically gets a shot at the belt again? This is one case where Dreamer should not have put him over. Not because Chavo himself, but because there’s simply no logic to it.
Finlay vs Mike Knox - Richard, I’ll agree that this match was good, however, I don’t think it should’ve been the Main Event. Matt Hardy vs John Morrison should’ve been the Main Event. They could’ve used Bourne/Miz as the opening contest to set the tone for the show. It was a good, physical match like it was billed as. Didn’t live up to the hype though. With all that happned, you figured you’d see more brawling and less wrestling holds as we did. HK-47, The match was good. Finlay is a good enough wrestler to make anybody look good and Mike Knox looked good as well. I don’t see how this was a snorefest at all. Some physical, high-impact moves made it watchable. It was a great, but I didn’t like it being the main event.
Well, the ECW Championship Scramble will be Mark Henry vs Matt Hardy vs The Miz vs Chavo Guerrero vs Finlay. ECW had better qualifying matches than SmackDown, and the WRONG people are in this thing. I can learn to love it now, but I would’ve liked to see:
ECW Championship Scramble:
Mark Henry vs Matt Hardy vs John Morrison vs Evan Bourne vs Finlay
Qualifying Matches:
Matt Hardy over Tommy Dreamer
Evan Bourne over Chavo Guerrero (they already had a feud going on anyway)
John Morrison over The Miz (these two wrestled before and had a great match and besides, what better way to make them more competitive)
Finlay over Mike Knox
Also, might I say, that Grisham and Striker are great on commentary.

I could not agree more.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Richard:To answer your question of the week…I would put the blame on The Miz.He missed his spot.Morrison and the ref did their jobs. The rules are the rules. The refs are supposed to call the match as if it is real.I feel bad for the refs, they do their job,and look what happens…he is fired.Same thing with the Cryme Tyme/Cade and Murdoch incident last year. The Cryme Tyme member was outside for too long, the ref HAD to call it a DQ victory instead of whatever was originally planned, what happens…the ref gets an unplanned beating. The refs really get it tough.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
deadman 16-0 and HBK-Me thinks they share the same brain.
August 29th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
This is coming from someone who names themsleves after a wrestler. Hmm yeah how old are you? And yeah I’m starting to think you and HBK are one in the same because you both speak a lot of bullshit.
August 29th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Dude just shut up no one cares deadman or hbk or whoever the hell you are. This is a site where we discuss wrestling not talk shit and sound like a moron like you.
And to answer Richards question James pretty much said what I thought. It was Miz’ responsibility to make sure he kicked out in time. If the ref didnt count to 3 and held his hand in the air it would come off horrible. I think the ref did what he had to do whether he wanted to or not. So I would blame Miz because unlike the ref he missed his spot.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
You see Deadman unlike you I have a life. So I go do things rather than offer a rebuttal to a virgin recluse like yourself. I am Irish which should be obvious with a name like O’Reilly. Go write your own blog on another site if you dont like this one.
It took me awhile and I thin I blame miz too. a spot like breaking up a pin is crucial in a match. you got to remember your cue. of course hardy couldve picked morrison up or sumthin like that. shouldnt have fired the ref though
August 29th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I just want to see if this works because I had something cool in mind. If its a bunch of jibberish ignore it.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Yup Never mind. wanted to see if I could post a vid on here.
August 30th, 2008 at 6:33 am
hbk and deadman 16-0 should be kicked out or banned or whatever… just get rid of those two losers.
anyway, ecw was great. i’m speechless. ecw grooms part the future of wwe. good thing there’s a third brand. just recently, i dont think of ecw as an inferior third brand anymore…
about the incident:i blame the miz. same reasons as above.
August 30th, 2008 at 6:42 am
who cares.. at least im posting relevant stuff.
you waste space here. its a wrestling discussion comment forum place thing.
August 30th, 2008 at 11:19 am
My name aint that bad itz kinda funny actually
August 30th, 2008 at 11:58 am
wow, its got childish in here with HBK and deadman. Umm, hbk, I’m a teacher and I just can’t stand (actually I’m sitting right now) to see the English language butchered by you. It’s called a petition: P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N. You spelled it wrong two times in the same post, 2 different ways. Geez.
August 30th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
G’day folks… The best thing to do with people like deadman and hbk is to simply ignore them. It works. Don’t comment on anything they say. These little punk bitches thrive on arguing with people. That is their only reason for being here. I realize it’s difficult to not say anything sometimes..especially with some of the ridiculous things they say… but it does work. Ignore the freaks and they will go away. Good blog by the way.
August 30th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Dont worry guys I got them blocked. They wont be around here anymore.
August 30th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Can’t they come back as different names? How are they banned? Just wondering how it works?
August 30th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I think that their banned by their e-mails? Of course they could make a different e-mail but then we know they really have no life.
August 30th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Well… at least this is the second time, that I can remember, that ECW blog has done more responses than RAW!
LOL… keep up the good work. I was look forward to ECW’s blog!
August 30th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
o my god hbk and deadman were getting on my fucking nerves!!! hbk said he was a teenager, well im 16 and you dont hear me talking out of my ass! By the way Anthony i didn’t know you were in high school very cool!
August 30th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Okay got an opinion question for yall, if Hardy walks out of Unforgiven the champ, after the usual rematches with Mark Henry, who do yall feel would be the best opponet for him to feud with? With the exception of Morrison, because he is the obvious choice
August 30th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Hmmm
Well the only other heels are Chavo and miz so either them or Finlay
August 30th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
I’ve never done this before but I’m going to plug my Youtube Channel. Go subscribe to http://www.youtube.com/OneNightBlog. It’s where I make music videos and all sorts of wrestling related stuff.
August 30th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
I think it would be cool to turn Dreamer heel, and have just waylay Hardy one night, total old school ECW ass beating, and then cut a promo on old school vs new school, kinda like the new breed angle but I think it could be done better with the Originals, Dreamer, Crazy, and the Dudleys TNA contract about to expire that would be sick. You get those 4 and maybe RVD, against MNM, Hardy, Bourne, and Burke I think it could work, only thing I question is if the ECW origanals got enough heat to turn MNM.
August 30th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
hbk, you’re the kind of kid that teachers wish they could still discipline using corporal punishment. just in case your feeble mind doesn’t understand what that means, it is the allowance of the teacher to hit the student i.e with the use of rulers, yardsticks.
August 30th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Okay it’s official you have no freaking life HBK. Get off this comment board if you dont like it. Go do something useful.
August 30th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Also Tim will also be the best heel in my blog’s history. He was smart and actually thought out what he was going to say and didnt speak out of his ass
August 31st, 2008 at 12:04 am
ok, we’ll just all have to do the ignoring dumbasses thing on these comment boards now.
August 31st, 2008 at 2:31 am
To answer your question WillieWonka,I would like to see Miz get a time to shine in the spotlight.Morrison in my opinion is ready to work upper mid card matches, where Miz needs a little more time at the top of the card.He is easily most improved wrestler imo.Morrison has already been champ,so has Chavo, give Miz a lengthy feud and test the waters with him.
August 31st, 2008 at 7:15 am
holy shit would u please shut up already hbk!!Everyone here knows u have no life and don’t even think of saying im in my 30’s cus in 16 and probably younger than you! Everyone hear thinks u suck if hadn’t already figured that out so get the fuck out!!!
August 31st, 2008 at 7:20 am
I think that a Miz vs. Matt Hardy for the ECW Championship would be an interesting feud.
August 31st, 2008 at 7:53 am
any match between any of the following would be good: miz, morrison, hardy, bourne..
August 31st, 2008 at 8:30 am
i would have loved to see bourne in the scramble match he has such potential. ECW definitely has some of the best young talent in the company
August 31st, 2008 at 1:05 pm
wow anthony your 17….
as for hbk: dear god… i’m 14, H.M. is 16, and i think i speak in the name of every teen smark when i say DO NOT TAKE hbk AS AN EXAMPLE OF OUR AGE. Tim IS the best heel in anthony’s blog, hands down. i just have to point out the obvious, hbk is less than 10, not to mention 15… did he say that whoever watches wrestling that is over 20 has no life? dude, what are you doing in a die-hard wrestling site? i was wondering how the hell did the blog had 93 comments and appearantly the reason is that 50 of them are yours.
“o im the idiot whatever look all i had to say was one thing and every one went into pissie fits and giveing out. you and all the others are responsable for me doing this because you gave me the satisfaction of getting on your nerves so now who is the idiot because i had no plan but to get on your nerves so therefor your the idiot”
is there no way to block his computer IP so he will finally SHUT UP!!!!
wow, what an idiot…
This Week’s “Dub Poll” (yes i know, i just have to approach it this way): WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT hbk? DO YOU THINK HIS ENTIRE SENTENCE CAPS LOCKING IS ANNOYING?
i wouldn’t even bother on the WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE on you, because you don’t deserve it. how does such a cena-mysterio-hornwoggle fan find WNW, i have no idea…
August 31st, 2008 at 1:19 pm
this is what his response should look like: SHITE MAN, WHY ARE YOU CALLING ME MARK? MY NAME IS HBK, ARE YOU SO LIFELESS THAT YOU INTEND ON WATCHING WRESTLING AFTER 20 AND HAVE 1 FRIEND CALLED MARK, AND ITS YOUR MOTHER???
murder
(P.S. it will be with more typos, just made it readable)
August 31st, 2008 at 1:36 pm
I wish we could block his IP address but then when he gets back to middle school in a couple of days, he is going to get right back on and do the same thing.
Anyways, two things. I am amazed at the amount of post this has received.
Second, I honestly think that a Miz and Morrison separation would be good. Miz could be the heel and Morrison could be the tweener character almost like Santino Marella. Morrison doesn’t have it in him to be a full fledged heel but not even a babyface. If there were to be a breakup between the two, that is the way I could see Morrison playing it off.
August 31st, 2008 at 1:42 pm
I’m going to bet that by the time I’m done typing this HBK will have already responded but I dont know how to block him. If you count all the comments that arent bullshit I still beat Raw.. I think. Thats also because ECW is becoming more interesting and Raw is less. my answer to Guy’s Poll (by the way you have my permission to do one of those every week if you want) is that they are the kind who have no friends and are craving for attention.
August 31st, 2008 at 1:45 pm
This is my last comment on this blog so here we go:
1) I hope all the smart people come back this Wednesday and comment. As I said before Raw got less comments even without all the bullshit.
2) HBK grow up
3) I’ll be a wrestling fan well past my 20’s and 30’s because there’s something called DVR where I can have a life and watch wrestling.
August 31st, 2008 at 3:19 pm
ok, i will try to fit another poll in my tight scedule
(as you know, summer vacation is over tomorrow). i already have a question prepared for next week
August 31st, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Looks like hbk and his clone got the ban hammer slammed on themselves
August 31st, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Guy Landeau i couldn’t agree with u more!! I’m 16 and i hope the people who read the comments don’t put H.M., you, myself and any other teenagers who comment in the same boat as hbk. i think hbk really just overshadowed what a great blog Anthony wrote this week and what a great show ECW was this week!
August 31st, 2008 at 10:52 pm
here here! now, if you excuse me, i must go to school
btw, wednesday is the day that my wrestling school is active, so i may be late with the “Dub Poll”.
i was happy to see that Richard warned hbk and deadman for their behavior.
