One Night Blog - Scrambled Sheet
  By Anthony O'Reilly on September 3rd, 2008

Hello everybody and welcome to the first One Night Blog edition of the school year. I am your teacher: Anthony O’Reilly. ECW was taped last week so odds are most of you know what will happen tonight. However for those who like surprises I’m here to guide you through all the happenings of ECW. Before I get into the show let’s talk about the wrestling universe today.

I read that last week Vince was unhappy because R-Truth sold too much to Kenny Dykstra. And I agree. When people like Kofi, Evan Bourne, and Umaga debuted they looked absolutely invincible. Killings looked like he was in trouble for most of the match. However when he was in control he was amazing. He made an elbow hit look extraordinary with the corkscrew spin he added on it. And his scissors kick was outstanding with the spin thing he did at the end. He also seemed very charismatic coming to the ring dancing and everything. Next week R-Truth needs to kill Funaki or someone like that. Just break their neck. He needs to just bulldoze them.

It saddens me that Killer Kowalski has passed away on Saturday morning. Kowalski was a great wrestler but his legacy still lives on. He is the trainer of the best wrestler in the business. Of course I’m talking of Triple H. The wrestling business lost one of its best. Knowing how much pain he was in he’s in a better place now. R.I.P. Killer Kowalski.

My question of the week concerns Raw. In particular the Raw Scramble. The big news last week was that Cena was inured and now Rey Mysterio will take his place in the Scramble. Now I’m a Rey Rey fan but not a fanatic. I booed him at the Royal Rumble this year (yes I was there live). But I think it’s too soon to bring him back. So my question is if Rey was incapable of returning and you were Vince McMahon, who would you place in the match. Personally I’d pick either Y2J or Kofi.

ECW shows a memorial for Killer Kowalski. Wrestling will really miss that man.

We are treated to the Dirt Sheet tonight. MNM is getting amazing heat. They go over the Scramble match and the Miz promises that he’ll win. I sure hope so. Morrison is pissed at not getting into the match. They invite Mark Henry out first. I can already see where this is going. Chavo Guerrero then comes out to a hilarious edition of his song done by MNM. Chavo says he’s looking forward to getting his championship back. Yeah right. On the screen they show MNM acting as Finlay’s brothers. Normally I’d be annoyed at them stereotyping Irish but this is hilarious. Finlay comes out to a great pop. The comedy BS starts already as Horny kicks Miz in the knee. Hardy then comes out to the biggest pop. Morrison gives him a look which even further point to a future feud. Hardy calls Atlas, Morrison, and Bam gay. This whole segment went exactly where I thought as the faces and heels brawl. Bourne and Dreamer come down to even it up for the good guys and the heels are cleared. Good opening segment to build up Unforgiven.

Backstage after the commercial both sides continue to brawl. Teddy Long comes in between them. Tonight’s main event is MNM Chavo and Henry vs. Dreamer Bourne Finlay and Hardy.

Super Crazy’s music hits and he is to face Gavin Spears. I know people don’t think a lot of this guy based on his debut. But he’s 131 on the PWI 500 so he’s got to be good. Spears claims to be the crown jewel of ECW. Sorry buddy but Bourne beat you to it. This was a quick match but it defiantly proved that Spears isn’t as worthless as we all thought. He did pretty well in there against Super Crazy. Super Crazy gets the win after a unique springboard moonsault.

Back from the commercial break and Ricky Ortiz comes out to face Ryan Braddock. Isn’t he a Smackdown person? Braddock dominates most of the match and looks all right too. I know that his last match he jobbed to The Show but he looks all right. Ortiz becomes more and more impressive each week. Hits some nice maneuvers except my only problem is with his finisher. He runs with a running splash. I thought that was only for the lard asses. Can’t we give him an enziguri or something? Other than that he looks to be getting better.

They recap HBK and Y2J’s segment. They bring up the injury HBK suffered. I’m very happy it’s not that serious. If that match was to be cancelled I’d be so damn mad. They also go down the Republican Convention. McCain’s going down. They also go down the Unforgiven card.

Matt Hardy comes down for the main event. After the commercial Finlay and Mr. ECW have joined him. Bourne comes down as the last face. Next up are the heels. Morrison and Hardy, who had the ECW match of the year last week, start off. Bourne hits a springboard dropkick on Chavo at one point during the match. He just keeps coming with new moves in his arsenal every week. He also hits the greatest standing moonsault in the business on The Miz. Surprisingly Bourne plays the Damsel in Distress for the match. He does sell good though I have to say. He has good facial expressions. The heels do a good job at pummeling him. Dreamer dominates for two minutes than is in trouble for two more and then Hardy comes in. Hardy cleans house but is trampled by Henry. Their making everyone but Finlay play damsel. Hmm sign of things to come? Bourne hits the best SSP he’s done in ECW by far on Henry. I mean this one was so high up in the air. Bourne takes care of Miz. Frog Splash by Dreamer and he takes care of Morrison. Butt splash by Finlay and he takes Chavo out. Hardy hits the Twist of Fate. Wow what a match. ECW’s tag team matches are always good but this one was crazy. Henry raises his belt at the end of the show.

An average show. Not nearly as good as last weeks. I’m sorry for the lateness but Orientation was long. ECW gets a 7/10 this week. To see my Unforgiven predictions make sure to check out the Talent Exchange this week.
