Pre-Show Notes:
The Wrestlemania card is shaping up nicely with the event only 4 weeks away. From what I’ve seen, they may add 1 or 2 tag title matches to the card. I wish they would because I’ve always been a fan of tag team wrestling and I would love to see a match or two. The BunnyMania is a take it or leave it type of deal. While I’ll love seeing the Divas in their sexy little outfits, I would rather have a solid wrestling match. The IC title won’t be on the line this year either. I guess Vince has something against it. The US title could come into play in the Umaga-Batista match or if MVP has a match. Batista & MVP will take on each other this Friday on Smackdown for the US title. The World Heavyweight Championship match is coming together nicely although I hope they turn up the fire on the feud the next few weeks. The WWE Championship match is coming together although there’s no real frontrunner with the momentum, but that can be a good thing.
The build for the Mayweather-Show match continued this past Friday on Smackdown. Show’s said some stuff on his promos that I wish he wouldn’t have said. He mentioned the fact that Mayweather is getting $20 million for the match. While that’s probably untrue, don’t mention that! You shouldn’t tell that he’s getting that much! He also mentioned something about “wrestling can be very real.” Well no shit. Hitting somebody over the head with a chair is not something you can fake very well. But, the fact is don’t mention that either. People make fun of it because it’s “fake” and all. There’s something’s that are fake about it, yes. You just don’t mention that if you want people to think Mayweather could actually get his ass kicked. I did however, like the promo I saw the other night. It talked about Mayweather being 38-0 or whatever his record is. Then, it talked about facing Big Show and they did a face off. It looked damn good.
One thing that has weirded me out over the past few days, and weird-ing me out it tough, is the new addition of the “Industry” section to WWE.com. When I first heard it here on WNW, I didn’t know what to make of it. So, I checked it out for myself. I was a little shocked to see TNA & ROH news on WWE.com. It’s like going to Pepsi’s web site and seeing news about Coke. It was a little surreal. Why would they do something like this? My guess is they don’t consider ROH or TNA as real competition. But, why would you help them in anyway? I’m also thinking they won’t include any of the “backstage news” that we post here. Speaking of which, if anybody has seen the site, Wrestle Zone, you might have noticed something. Basically, our stories from WNW were appearing on there and someone taking credit for them. I think it’s complete bullshit that somebody would stoop that low to take OUR stuff and call it their own. How crappy is that?
Before we get to RAW, I wanted to mention TNA a little bit. The news came out that they will be doing a live Impact the Thursday before Wrestlemania as well as taping 2 shows before Wrestlemania. How convenient? Honestly, if they don’t pull out all of the stops and really put good product out there, they’ll really fall behind and their progress will be lost. They really need some good stuff to show people they can compete. This is their chance to get part of that WWE audience. After all, they’ll be bringing over 80,000 people to Orlando and this will be a perfect time to showcase their product. I won’t doubt the promo teams will be out in full force to get people to the Impact Zone. I mean, let’s have an Ultimate X match or something to really show they’re the alternative, not that Styles-Angle-Angle love triangle.
One quick thing from this past weekend was Matt Hardy returned at a house show against MVP. It’s unknown if he’ll compete against MVP for the United States Championship or not. Without further ado, it’s time for another edition of RAW is Blogged!!!
RAW is Blogged:
RAW started off with all 3 participants from the main event for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. Triple H got a huge pop while Randy Orton got plenty of heat. When John Cena was shown, he got his usual mixed reaction. Silly Willy Regal said that for the next 3 weeks, each one will get to be the GM for the night. He said this week, Cena would be the GM and it would rotate in the coming weeks. Orton tried to make a deal about not getting injured. Trips said he couldn’t trust either one and Cena said he would find something extremely satisfying. Good way to start off RAW.
Next up was a mixed martial arts exhibition match. I guess WWE wanted to capitalize off of UFC 82. By the way, Anderson Silva is a straight bad ass. Big Show came out and during his entrance; they kept showing Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. on the screen posing a bunch. It didn’t really make sense. Show’s opponent was Brandon “The Thrill” Hill. This guy came out in boxing garb for his MMA match. Um, ok. Hill had on gloves and Show was gloveless. This was basically a squash match that was worse than “Brawl for All.” Show won and then cut a great promo. He reminded me of me when I talk shit. During the whole promo, Mayweather kept saying, “get the jet ready” and “I’ll break your jaw this time.” Well, this build went down hill quick.
Next up, it was Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair taking on Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch. They planted the seeds for a heel turn last week, which is what I’m expecting. It was a quick match with HBK & Flair locking on dueling Figure Four Leg Locks for the win. Afterwards, Michaels got on the mic and talked about not wanting the match. He then went into tweener mode, saying if Flair wanted to keep pushing it, his show would be ended at Wrestlemania. I was expecting a Sweet Chin Music but I’m thinking we’ll get that next week.
Backstage, John Cena made a match between himself & Mr. Kennedy and kicked Silly Willy out of his office for the night. During the commercial break, we find out that next week’s RAW will be 3 hours! Not only that, it will be a “Wrestlemania Rematch” night with past matches from Wrestlemania on RAW. Please God, no Khali-Kane, please!!!
Floyd Mayweather says he’ll break the Big Show’s jaw at Wrestlemania.
Back from the break, we learn that Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel will return with special guest, Jeff Hardy. We also then learn that Finlay and John Bradshaw Layfield will have a confrontation. I do like the new graphics they’re using to preview stuff. They’ve come a long way from just having two pictures up there.
At ringside, Silly Willy joined JR & King on commentary. Oomanga came out for a squash match against Super Crazy. Once a while back, Super Crazy was an ECW Television Champion. You know, the same belt Rob Van Dam held for 23 months and made it more important than the ECW World Heavyweight Championship? King read a statement from Batista, saying he was ready to face Umaga. Goody!
After the break, Chris Jericho was in the ring for the return of the “illustrious” Highlight Reel. Jericho said he was there to talk about the Money in the Bank Ladder match at Wrestlemania. Hardy came out to a great reception. So, who are these other guys in the MITB match? Jericho brought down the Jeri-tron 500 to recap the events from last week in their kick ass match. Jericho said there was nothing Hardy or anybody could do to stop him from winning the match at Wrestlemania. Chris, I doubt it. Unless somebody has gone retarded in the back, Hardy will win this match. They talked about the past and Jericho said that from now until ‘Mania, it’s anything goes. Hardy then proceeded to give Jericho a Twist of Fate, which got a few boos from the crowd. Hmm. Backstage, Mr. Kennedy was shown walking to the ring to get squashed by Cena.
They showed a Wrestlemania commercial with Carlito and Maria. Carlito wrestled around with a sea gull the whole time. Damn funny commercial!!!
Floyd Mayweather says he’ll break the Big Show’s jaw at Wrestlemania.
Back from commercial, they showed Kennedy’s Mic Check on Cena last week. Kennedy came out to his remixed theme music followed by Cena, with his mixed reaction. Cena is back saluting. Before the match got going, they cut to a commercial. For those wondering, Burger King now has cheesy tots for breakfast. I don’t know if I was seeing things or not, but Kennedy was kicking Cena’s ass. Once again, it was mentioned that if Kennedy wins the Money in the Bank, he’ll cash it in that night after the main event. That would be the sickest twist ever but I don’t think it will happen. Then again, I didn’t think Edge would come out after the Elimination Chamber at New Year’s Revolution and cash his in either. Cena beat Kennedy with 5 moves: clothesline, kick to the gut, his flip over head buster, a top rope fame-asser, and an STFU. Simply amazing.
Meanwhile backstage, Maria & Candice Michelle were talking. King said they were going to unveil Maria’s Playboy cover. Too bad most of the internet marks have already seen it. You know, if I could land a woman like Maria, or any of the Divas, man…well, you know!
Back from commercial, we lean that Wrestlemania is 27 days away. The music for that package was pretty bad ass.
King was in the ring for the unveiling of the Playboy cover. He introduced Maria & Candice Michelle. I mean, damn. They say that this year’s BunnyMania match will be a Lumber-Jill match and Snoop Dogg will be the Master of Ceremonies. They revealed the cover and in every place that a man would want to see, Santino’s ugly mug was covering them up. Santino said every time somebody wants to dream about Maria being in Playboy, they’ll have an erectile malfunction. Funny stuff. Maria finally stood up to Santino about his behavior. Santino said it must be that time of the month. He tried to drag Maria out of the ring but King knocked him down and got a nice “Jerry!” chant not to mention a hug from Maria. Candice got on the mic and talked about revealing another cover, which lead us to see the real cover. Maria is f***ing hot!
They showed a video package about Carl Edwards and his friendship with John Cena. Cool stuff.
After that, we had a “Money in the Bank” qualifying match between Carlito & Cody Rhodes. I guess we won’t have a tag title feud going into Wrestlemania? JR said the winner of MITB would get a shot at the World Heavyweight or WWE title. I guess the ECW title is back down to a secondary belt. They had a good match despite the lack of crowd reaction. Carlito won so I guess his team with Santino is over.
After the break, they interviewed Mayweather. In case you missed it, Floyd Mayweather said he’ll break the Big Show’s jaw at Wrestlemania.
Mike Adamle butchered the Hall of Fame announcement. Mae Young will be inducted into this year’s class. Please, no more highlights. Finlay was shown backstage getting ready to come out and confront JBL.
Finlay came out to his new theme. I miss the “My name is Finlay and I love to fight.” Vince came out and asked Finlay a bunch of questions. He is Hornswoggle’s son. JBL was live via satellite with Hornswoggle in a hospital bed. I really don’t like stuff like this. JBL slapped little Horny. Horny cried. JBL turned out the lights and I guess demolished Hornswoggle. Finlay is a good actor.
The main event between Triple H and Randy Orton was next with John Cena on commentary. I bet you he’ll be the best commentator storylines can write. These guys put on a hell of a show. There was lots of mat wrestling and technical moves unlike a match involving the guest commentator. He was busy hyping his opponents up and would make the casual fan think he had no shot at beating either one of them. The match ended with Cena attacking Triple H. He hit an FU on Triple H and then Orton his an RKO on Cena. Wheww. I thought this would be the 3rd week in a row that a different guy would the advantage.
I give this RAW:
3 out of 4 ring posts
Well, if you like that stuff, you probably liked RAW. It was decent but could have been better in other spots. In case you missed it, Floyd Mayweather said he’ll break the Big Show’s jaw at Wrestlemania.

March 3rd, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Lol that’s not fair.
Second I guess…
March 3rd, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Is Jeff Hardy going heel? The reaction he got indictated to me, that people like him as a babyface and not the tweener character. He is not Stone Cold. Stupid booking, your thoughts?
March 4th, 2008 at 12:09 am
I don’t think it’s Hardy going heel, they did that angle just to help build the MITB Ladder Match. Same for HBK/Flair…
March 4th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Nice blog Luke. Loved the new banner! Hopefully we get Orton vs Undertaker next week. That would be awesome. Also, does Anderson Silva have anyone left to beat at middleweight?
March 4th, 2008 at 1:39 am
Lol that image was funny, but still, NOTHING beats the old “Same Old Crap” one you put last year XD
I don’t think Hardy is turning heel (by the looks of it, it almost felt like it was Y2J imo that was turning a bit heelinsh). Just showing 2 guys who will stop at nothing to eventually job to Ce…..uhm, to capture the WWE title!
I smell an Umaga interferance at the Batista/MVP match this Friday. Hopefully setting up the feud for Matt Hardy/MVP for WM.
Man, if Vince Russo was in WWE, I can see a JBL/Finlay “Hornswoggle on a pole” match for WM! Anywho, cool blog, and even though I NEVER thought I’d be saying (well, typing) this, I actually kinda hope Orton retains at WM 0_o
March 4th, 2008 at 4:34 am
Great Blog!
Whoa, the MITB ladder match is looking to be awesome. Hardy, Kennedy, Benjamin, Jericho and now Carlito. Just them 5 and it will already be an entertaining match. Who else might be added to the match? Your thought?
March 4th, 2008 at 5:50 am
i agree wih LanceDanger. i think the batista-mvp match will end via DQ thanks to Umaga. That bought out matt to clean house.
PS: Jeff may not win MITB seeing how the crowd starting to boo him. Nowadays WWE likes to do unexpected thing(cena’s comeback, HHH wins EC, etc).
March 4th, 2008 at 6:32 am
Nice blog dude,
I didnt get a chance to see RAW yet as I have taped it to watch tonight but from what I have read it doesnt seem I have missed much apart from maybe the main event and anything with Santino is always funny.
Joining the already qualified MITB competitors I can see three of the following 5: Kane (i see him elsewhere though), Morrison, Stevie Richards, Hardcore Holly, Kenny Dykstra
I also expect to see the following matches added to the the Wrestlemania card:
Kane vs Khali (again)
ECW Championship Chavo Guerrero(c)vs CM Punk
US Title MVP(c) vs Matt Hardy
Chuck Palumbo vs Jamie Noble (some kind of gimmick match)
March 4th, 2008 at 6:33 am
Oh and if Morrison is not in the MITB match then I think there is a fair chance it will be Jesse and Festus vs Team Morrison for the Tag Titles at Wmania as well.
March 4th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Good blog luke i didnt get to see raw cuz my recorder taped the wrong channel lol. But i went to wwe.com an watched all the videos from this weeks raw in the raw video segement and to me it looked a decent raw.
moving on there are 8 confirmed mathces for wm24 and cud some 1 tell me wat snoop dogs going to be doing in the bunny-mania lumberjill match?
i see 1 more match mayb 2 been added to WM24
ECW title match mayb chavo v punk v burke v kofi in a 4 way cuz ecw dnt even have a match on wm so far an mvp matt hardy us title i hope both are added personally. and the mitb has 4 raw guys an 1 ecw guy i hope sd/ecw fill the final 3 spots am hopin for kane from sd an morrison an richards from ecw. wat ya think?
March 4th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Raw next week is supposed to be three hours and have wrestlmania rematches. Thye advertised CM Punk as being on the show. Now with the memory working on fading out on me, some please remind me what wrestlemania Punk was in?
March 4th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Punk was in WM23 in the MITB ladder match v edge orton matt hardy jeff hardy kennedy booker & finlay
March 4th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
I’m guessing we’ll see:
Orton vs. Undertaker
Cena vs. JBL or Big Show
Batista vs. Triple H
Undertaker vs. Kane or Mark Henry
HBK vs. Chris Jericho
Triple H vs. Chris Jericho
Who knows. I just don’t want to see Khali-Kane for the 100th time.
March 4th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Right now, I only see Kane and Kofi Kingston, or maybe Elijah Burke qualifying. I have a feeling that Vince is going to have Morrison/Miz face Dreamer and Delaney at WrestleMania, or maybe if Vince feels good, he’ll throw in Jesse and Festus. I actually wouldn’t mind that match, unless it was a TLC Match.
I actually can’t wait for JBL/Finlay at WrestleMania. I was worried that these two would be left out, but I actually itchin to see these two wrestle. Come to think of it, I think this is the first time they’ve wrestled each other. I may be wrong though.
I like the angle between Jeff Hardy and Y2J. I honestly think it’s something to keep them busy, but that’s just me. I can’t wait to see how it plays out heading to WrestleMania. I can already see Jeff Hardy winning and Jericho challenges him for his Money in the Bank Contract.
March 4th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Do you think their will be a stipualtion added to the jbl/finlay match? i think it will be a street fight personally.
A ECW title match am pretty sure will be added to the wm24 card cuz ecw aint got a match on the card yet and only 1 ecw star is on the card an thats shelton benjamin in the mitb. who u thnik will be in ecw title mathc? i hope cm punk chavo kofi & burke
i hope the us title mathc mvp/matt hardy is added but if not both men deserve to be in mitb cuz sd aint got 1 star in that yet kane needs a palce on the card i hope in mitb an it wud be a gd moment if richards got a place in mitb if matt mvp r in 1 on 1 action.
March 4th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
nice blog!! stevi richards will prob not be in the mitb with all his neck problems recently
March 4th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
Floyd Mayweather said he’ll break the Big Show’s jaw at Wrestlemania.
March 4th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
You’re right. He said that many times during his interviews last night.
March 4th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
You know it is funny when you think about it. Orton is the GM for next week’s 3 hour Raw which is centered on Wrestlemania Rewind and let me guess it’s gonna be Cena vs. HHH. How iroatic.
I also hope Burke does get one of the MITB spots. He’ll make it seems interesting!
March 4th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I think that The Legend Killer should retain at Mania and drop the belt to Hardy at One Night Stand or Summerslam in Jeff’s type of match ,a ladder or a TLC match. I liked the Orton-Hardy feud coming into the Rumble although the match was a bit of a let down. Jeff and Orton had good chemistry and the weeks leading up to Rumble was awesome. So I want Orton to beat HHH and Cena at Mania and have Jeff win MITB and challenge him to a ladder match or a TLC at either O.N.S or SummerSlam. How plausible does this sound?
March 4th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
When will Hardy challenge for the title if he does win MITB. It has been stated that HHH will win the title and feud with Cena this summer?
March 5th, 2008 at 2:57 am
Stop being so harsh on Cena mate, he carries RAW. It was dull without him. What wrestler doesnt finish a match in less than 5 moves? Orton hits the same moves every week, at least Cena switches it up.
Also stop with the whole ‘Mayweather said he’s gonna break Big Show’s nose at Mania’. Your not funny!
March 5th, 2008 at 3:01 am
i meant big show’s jaw
March 5th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
Well Troy, could you tell Floyd Mayweather not to say it so much?
It was just like a few weeks ago when JR kept saying, “If you’re looking for the Westminster Dog Show, it’s currently airing on CNBC.”
Relax, mate.
March 5th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
Cena is a lot better than you give him credit for. If anything it’s the booking he gets that sucks, if that’s your only problem with him as well then that’s kool. I do disagree with Troy on the Mayweather thing, it’s funny as hell about the jaw breaking thing, I was cringing during that big show Mayweather segment where he was talking over show the whole time and showed no reaction to show throwing the hill or whatever he was called over the ropes. Such a waste of money if they are paying him $20 million in my opinion
March 5th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
What are the chances that the MITB winnner cashes in the shot after the triple threat match? I think if Orton retains at Mania, then Hardy will come out and beat him. Your take
March 5th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Im actually likeing the JBL-Finley stuff. It is making JBL look like a sick f*** and i love it. I actually liked JBL attacking Hornswoggle in the cage a couple weeks ago and I thought it got a ton of heat on JBL and made him an even bigger heel.
The only thing i would have changed this past week on raw was the fact that they made Hornswoggle look like a little kid. He is a man not a little kid. He cried and I just found that looked really stupid.
Anyways I think it will be a tag match at mania. Finley & Hornswoggle vs JBL and Vince Mcmahon in a street fight match. What do you guys think?
March 6th, 2008 at 11:33 am
I think Vince and Hornswoggle will interfere, but I don’t about a tag team match. Besides, I really doubt Vince can even wrestle anymore. I swore I read something after his match with HBK Last Year that he tore something and couldn’t wrestle anymore, but after his little stint with Lashley, it could’ve been false, but if he could, it would’ve been him vs Finlay. There must be something wrong.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Guys if and when Jeff wins MITB ,what spinoff feuds would you like to see as a spinoff of the MITB match?
Kennedy/Jericho,Carlito/Jericho etc .What do you see as a p;ausible enough Backlash-SummerSlam Feud arising from the MITB losers
March 7th, 2008 at 3:50 am
Navin: I personally would love to see a Kennedy/Y2J feud, the mic work alone between the two would be entertaining! If Shelton wasn’t on ECW, I would’ve said Shelton/Jeff Hardy, or maybe Carlito/Hardy if they don’t pair Carlito with Santino again. Or like mentioned before, Y2J/Hardy for the contract if Hardy wins.
March 8th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Kennedy is not that great on the mic. Now MVP he is pretty good on the mic and i don’t like how he is overlooked and Kennedy keeps on getting the opportunities when MVP is better than Kennedy. MVP should be in the MITB he is te US champion.
March 9th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
No, MVP should continue & finish his feud with Matt Hardy. I would rather watch that than Mayweather-Show or Triple H-Cena-Orton. Those guys worked great together. Hell, I would love a 3-way feud between MVP-Edge-Matt Hardy. The creative team needs to realize when they have something special.
