Welcome to the longest running blog on the WNW Blog Spot…RAW IS BLOGGED!!!
I promise not to Billy Gunn this blog.
The news has been coming out that Brock Lesnar’s career in the UFC is in jeopardy due to some ailments he’s been suffering from for the past few weeks/months. I wanted to take time out to put this in perspective.
Lesnar has become a huge draw for UFC. His fight with Frank Mir drew over 1.5 million buys on PPV. His debut drew 600,000. His second fight against Heath Herring drew 625,000 and his title fight against Randy Couture scored 920,000 buys. To say this guy is a big deal is an understatement.
I won’t get into the speculation of what Lesnar has. It could be anything but I’m not a doctor. They’ve said that it’s his intestines but again, I won’t speculate.
This is a huge deal. Lesnar is a bigger star than John Cena. This story is similar to if Cena were to get hurt and maybe jeopardize his career. We all know that could lose the WWE millions of dollars. Similar to Cena, Lesnar going out, because he’s a big enough star, could lose the UFC millions.
In other news, AJ Styles has retained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Based on what I’ve seen from the spoilers & reports, TNA is the same crap since Hogan & Bischoff’s arrival. Now, I hope they were just letting the stuff run its course and are going to have a restart at this week’s tapings. I figure that Turning Point was Russo’s last hoo-rah and the Hogan-Bischoff Era starts this week. If they don’t pick it up, when I stop writing at the end of the year, I doubt I watch wrestling period.
RAW is Blogged:
RAW is LIVE from New York City at Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of Sports Entertainment. Tonight’s guest host is WWE Hall of Famer, the Hot Rod, Rowdy Roddy Piper!
The Skinny: Try telling the WWE they have a PPV this weekend. It won’t matter.
Opening Segment: Rowdy Roddy Piper, Iron Sheik, Bella Twins
RAW opened up backstage with Piper’s Pit with Piper & Luis Something who has been on VH1 and in some movies. Piper talked about the Iron Chef and the Iron Sheik came in with the Bellas. It was supposed to be a Saturday Night Live deal because they did “Live from New York, it’s Monday Night RAW.” Um, ok.
We got the new theme song from Nickelback and new graphics for RAW. I’ll be honest, I’m a nerd when it comes to graphics. I like watching sports and their graphic changes. Like ESPN’s new BottomLine, I love it. When CBS changed their graphics for NFL games, I thought it was cool. I wish Fox had kept their “Fox Box” instead of the little upper lefthand box they use now. Anyways, the new theme was ok. It’s something I haven’t heard from Nickelback and I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a Nickelback fan except for a couple of songs.
Match #1 – United States Championship: The Miz © vs. MVP
Miz complained that he hadn’t said one word and everybody already hated him. He mentioned the Yankees, which got a mixed reaction presumably because there are probably Mets fans in the crowd. He said they didn’t earn the World Series title, they bought it. Again, the Mets tried that same process but it didn’t work. He said that everybody hated New York and their sports teams. A “Let’s Go Yankees” chant started up. He said he didn’t buy his US title but he earned it. The crowd was hot as they reacted to everything the Miz had to say. MVP, with a Yankees hat on, would be his opponent. What exactly did MVP do to deserve this title shot? They showed Sherri Shepherd (that’s her name right?) at ringside. MVP dominated most of the match. Things were going well until he tried the Playmaker. Miz reversed this but not for long as MVP got back in control for a little bit. Miz then hit the Stroke for the victory. Well, it’s safe to say that what MVP had built up just went out the window.
Winner: The Miz
Match #2 – Chavo Guerrero vs. Santino Marella
Santino came out in a New York Rangers jersey. That’s smart considering the Rangers play in the Garden. He took that off and revealed a Giants jersey, which got boos. He took the Giants jersey off to reveal a Knicks jersey, which got even more boos. Then, he took that off to reveal a Jets jersey, which didn’t catch as many boos. Then, he revealed a Mets jersey, which split the crowd even more. After that, he showed off a Phillies jersey, which caught boos. Finally, he revealed a Yankees jersey, which seemed to get the most cheers. Chavo did most of the work until Hornswoggle came out and distracted Chavo, giving Santino the win. I don’t like this expression but……FML! If you don’t know what that means, look it up.
Winner: Santino Marella
Shortly after the match, DX’s music hit. They came out, throwing glow sticks into the crowd. All that was missing was the ecstasy. If I need to explain that to anybody, shoot me an e-mail.
In-Ring Segment: DX, Hornswoggle
Triple H started off by keeping the crowd hot. They plugged their merchandise. Triple H said they weren’t there to talk about merchandise but the match at Survivor Series for the WWE Championship. Triple H said that Cena said they would implode at SS and he didn’t even know what implode meant. He said they were a unit and as long as the title came to DX, it didn’t matter who had it. Their sights turned to Hornswoggle, mentioning he didn’t pay for his merchandise. Triple H said they would consider letting him be a member of DX. Hornswoggle came out and jumped around, doing the DX chop. Triple H told him that he needed to know one thing…are you ready? Trips did the “let’s get ready to suck it” stuff but before he finished, he got Hornswoggle & did the Pedigree. HBK then said if you’re not down with that, they’ve got two words for you. Then, they got the Hornswoggle hard board and carried Hornswoggle out of the arena. Well, that wasn’t that great, considering they’re more worried about selling the destruction of a midget instead of the match on Sunday.
After the break, the plugged Jay-Z’s new album and talked about the history of Madison Square Garden & the WWE. One thing I liked was the recap of Eddie Guerrero winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 20. The anniversary of Eddie’s passing was this past Friday.
Meanwhile backstage, Jericho visited with Piper. They chatted and Piper brought in Chris Masters. Like last week, he flexed his pecs to the Black Eyed Peas song. Jericho looked disgusted and then they showed members of the Black Eyed Peas in the crowd. Listen, if Fergie isn’t with them, I don’t want to see them.
Match #3 – Diva’s Championship: Melina © vs. Alicia Fox
They brought out Judah Friedlander, who stars on “30 Rock.” I just remember him from “Meet the Parents” and I think a Dave Matthews video. After the entrances, Judah announced that it would be a Lumberjill match and all of the Divas came out to ringside. This didn’t last long. Alicia got thrown outside and the Jills beat her down. Melina ended up getting the win.
Winner: Melina
Post-match, all the Divas got in the ring and went at it. Team Mickie James cleaned house before celebrating with Judah.
In-Ring Segment: Piper’s Pit
Piper talked about all he had done throughout at the years. He said that he was the reason Hulk Hogan had no hair. He then said that he wanted one more match with Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Surprisingly, Vince made his way out to the ring. Vince started making fun of some of the things about Piper. Vince said that he was retired from in-ring competition. He mentioned how good he looked. Piper said he had been in 7,000 matches and 30 car crashes. Piper then challenged him to a fight later on as Vince made fun of Piper as Piper walked out. Um, that was one of the weirdest segments I’ve seen.
Meanwhile, RAW will be a 3-hour Thanksgiving edition next week hosted by Jesse Ventura. Yeah, just how I want to spend my Thanksgiving vacation!
Match #4 – Sheamus vs. The Ringside Helper & Jerry Lawler
Sheamus challenged somebody to come out and face him. When nobody did, he beat up the ringside helper guy. Jerry Lawler stood up to intervene and Sheamus nailed him too.
Winner: Sheamus
After the break, Matt Striker came out to fill in for King for the rest of the night.
Match #5 – Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger
Evan Bourne got it started off well. But, with a commercial break in the middle, this turned out to be a quick match. After the break, it was maybe 2-3 minutes before Swagger hit the Gutwrench Powerbomb to get the victory.
Winner: Jack Swagger
My problem with this was they had teased Miz & Swagger’s problems but there was no Miz or Eve in this match. It’s like, why have continuity?
Piper came out and called Vince out. Instead, he got Randy Orton. Orton took some shots on Piper. As he went for the punt, he stopped too early before Kofi Kingston’s music hit. He came out and he & Orton went at it for a while. The action spilled into the crowd and then back into the ring. Kofi pretty much beat the holy hell out of Randy Orton, all throughout the arena. He knocked the living shit out of him with a top to one of the cases they put equipment in. Kofi got up on a railing and was about to do a splash through a table before the referees grabbed his arms. He broke away from them, got back up, and hit his “boom drop” onto Orton, through the table.
They plugged the new Hulk Hogan DVD. This just dripped with irony. Vince doesn’t want to pay attention to the competition. Yet, here he is releasing a Hogan DVD with Hogan now with the competition. I realize that the DVD was already scheduled to be released but it’s just hilarious. You can’t tell me they can’t postpone the DVD’s release or something. I mean, it’s just funny as hell to me, probably not to you but in my world, that doesn’t matter, does it lol?
Backstage, John Cena sucked up to the crowd. Cena continued running his mouth and got a sheet of paper from a backstage hand. Cena said he made a mistake in that the match wasn’t a handicap match but instead a triple threat match. That’s pretty crappy when the face of your company doesn’t know what type of match he’s in. He continued making a goofy ass promo that nearly made me want to watch the Browns-Ravens debacle. Seriously, who the fuck wrote that promo? If it was Cena, he needs a good slap across the face.
Main Event: Jeri-Show vs. DX vs. John Cena & The Undertaker
Jeri-Show was out first, followed by DX. The first champion to come out was John Cena. I still wanted to punch him in the face for that shitty promo. Undertaker, by far, got the biggest pop of the night for just the druid chants. I marked out for the druids, I have to admit. Before his music even hit, an “Under-taker” chant broke out. In an odd move, HBK, Jericho, and Cena started off the match. I just always figured two guys were in the match. Things quickly changed as Show, Trips, and ‘Taker got tagged in. Undertaker & Triple H stared each other down before setting their sights on Big Show. We got some vintage Triple H with a spinebuster. I’ll be glad when I don’t have to hear Michael Cole. I mean, I might just say ‘vintage’ after I take a shit tomorrow and say “VINTAGE LUKE PARKS WITH A BIG TURD!” This was a random match. It didn’t tell a story at all, like the challengers trying to take out the champions. Or, teasing a turn of DX or Jeri-Show on each other because they can’t trust each other when a title is on the line. It was just random moves by everybody. VINTAGE SHAWN MICHAELS WITH AN ELBOW! At the end, everybody hit their finishers. Triple H took Undertaker to the outside, which allowed Cena to hit the FU on Triple H to get the pin for his team.
Winners: John Cena & The Undertaker
Afterwards, Undertaker hit a tombstone on Cena in another “Madison Square Garden Moment.” Hearing that 500 times from Cole was about as bad as “WWE Universe” and “Vintage.”
I give this RAW:
1 out of 4 ring posts
The Final Word:
Is there a PPV coming up this Sunday? If you were to watch WWE programming, you probably wouldn’t know. The guest host gimmick sucked this week. I usually like Piper but he wasn’t any good in a role that would typically fit him. The stuff with Vince McMahon? What purpose did that serve? You’re right, none at all.
Instead of building up interest for their championship match, DX treated Survivor Series as a B-Level PPV that nobody cares about. Are you telling me the only build they could have done was with Hornswoggle, then a little bit of stuff in the main event? ARE YOU SHITTING ME!? People wonder why I don’t like RAW right now. Hell, it should be obvious why I don’t like RAW right now. They don’t use the TV to build their PPVs. TNA uses their PPVs to build their TV. In WWE, they don’t do anything to make me want to see the PPV. Just from RAW alone, I wouldn’t spend my hard earned money to buy Survivor Series.
I don’t care to see the Divas team match. I mean, we get that crap every other week. I MIGHT tune in to see Kingston & Orton go at it but there’s no guarantee they’ll get enough of each other to send me away a happy customer.
Why is MVP getting a US title shot?
Why is Swagger going over Bourne clean with no mention of Miz or Eve in that angle?
I mean, does anybody really want to watch Survivor Series. They’re treating the WWE Championship match as a joke in the first place. I’m so frustrated with this crap I could puke. I surely hope whoever takes my place will get a better product than I’ve had the past year. Another PPV that hasn’t been built worth a damn.

I actually thought this was the best Raw in a long time. Maybe cause I’m in NYC, and maybe cause I feel stupid for giving my tickets away after seeing Taker’s intro and Randy’s pop and huge chant for him. The crowd was hot throughout, and everyone got a reaction.
I understand the horrific lack of build up to the big four PPV. That was clearly a huge oversight. I also understand how Piper really was an aferthought as a GM this week. In terms of a show that usually sucks, it really entertained me, especially the main event (until Stuper Cena had to be the one that got the pin after MSG boo’d him halfway to Union Square). Taker delivering a tombstone to Cena though, that made up for it. I also learned to tune out Cole and sometimes King. Striker was a welcome addition.
Women’s match was typical though not as painful. I’d say it was more pointless to put Melina over yet again for no good reason. Sheamus has gone from retiring cruiserweights that have not been actively wrestling on TV, to kicking announcers that have not been actively wrestling period. Don’t like his direction, though I like him.
Hornswoggle getting a pedigree was pointless in a way, but oh so satisfying. Would be nice if that was his TV write off.
The Miz is 96% back to awesome. I loved the bit about how he earned the US title and the Yankees bought theirs (100% true….I’m a Mets fan though so that’s almost as bad).
Kofi/Orton battle I got distracted through a lot of it, but what I caught was hot. That built up their feud more than anything, not so much their 5 on 5 traditional SS match, and putting Kofi over in MSG means that he’s all but reached the top of the WWE, sans holding the title.
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the NYC crowd when it comes to Orton and Edge. Two of the biggest heels this decade, two of the biggest face pops when in MSG. IMO its a show of respect for how good they are at being bad. Orton’s reaction and chant was just magnificent, though of course the total opposite of what most places would do.
I think that’s why I enjoy televised MSG shows. IMO, it’s the measuring stick as to how over you are. I’m actually shocked the Miz got boo’d to hell and back, but hey, shows how over he is.
Enough of my rambling. All in all, I felt the Raw show was entertaining, which really can’t be said for the last stretch of Monday night shows. Did they promote Survivor Series enough through their matches and promos? Not really. They did a horrible job, aside from Kofi/Orton, but again, the built their feud more than the match. I just talked to my dad who got back from the show (gave hi my ticket for his birthday) and he thought it was a great show, better than most recent ones. I’m just happy that I was entertained for 2:15 and felt like they did a better job at entertaining this week than usual.
Luke, I definitely agree with a lot of what you said. I just enjoyed it regardless of the horrible big four build up.

MVP vs Miz was way too short… and what ever happened to MVP push? NVM, that’s old news.
The only diva a care about right now is Beth Pheonix. Aside from her being hawt.. she’s also very hawt.
FML (Fudge My Life)
I hope Horny gets AIDS… and by that I mean people you help out, so they can help him out of the building when he gets fired.
The Main Event was an entertaining spotfest, Michael Cole can kill any kind of enjoyment.
I agree with your rating today, the 1 ring post goes to the brawl between Orton and Kofi. That was pretty sick… and there was blood… some at least.
I should have done my homework instead.

as far as has been hogan goes, WWE OWNS HOGAN’S ELGACY IN THIS CIRCUS INDUSTRY.
wwe does not care that 56 year old hogan is in tna. he can go play with nash, hall and form a senior version of the nwo..
however, wwe owns the nwo trademark, they own hogan’s career.
November 17th, 2009 at 12:10 am
EAW was good. I like Piper but he wasn’t as good as he normally is or used to be. I’ve seen him do far better work on the mic.
Miz/MVP was a good match.
Chavo same old thing week after week never wins.
The DX/Hornswoggle segment was funny.
The Diva’s match short and to the point.
Piper’s Pit with Vince was all right. but some how I doubt Vince is retired from the ring.
SHeamus’s Segment did nothing probably set up next weeks match Sheamus Vs Lawler which they could have done right then.
Why do they allways wait untill some gets beat up before Lawler gets off his butt and helps them.
Swagger/Bourne match was good…..Luke they did mention Miz and Swagger’s issues they showed a replay of Miz coming out during last weeks match between Swagger and Bourne.
The best part was the Kofi/Orton brawl. They are doing a great job putting Kofi over.
I noticed Kofi all most lost his balance on the rail he stood on when the Ref’s grabed his legs to keep him from jumping on Orton.
The Main Event was good I enjoyed it. with Undertaker standing tall at the end.
I can’t wait for SD and see the Brothers of Destruction team up once again.
Should be interesting to see Ventura guest hosting next week. he is a lot like Piper says what’s on his mind.
WWE did make a mistake tho.. Ventura is no longer Govenor.
November 17th, 2009 at 12:14 am
RAW was good. (I ment)
November 17th, 2009 at 1:19 am
Luke,
Long time reader, first time commenting and I wish you the best of luck as you leave at the end of the year. The person who replaces you has big shoes to fill.
RAW was alright tonight. I think what made it alright was the MSG crowd which always set the standard along with Chicago, Philly, Canada, and England with how wrestling crowds should be.
That being said the only things I thought were good Kofi and Orton segment, and the fact Orton got cheered almost as loud as the Undertaker, Hornswoggle finally got his again and hopefully they write him off TV like Noble(I hate him), Cena got booed like he deserves (serioussly they need to turn him, he is really stale that promo tonight shows it all) and how he got tombstoned (I’m not even a big Undertaker fan, but I marked out for that because its Cena the MOST OVERRATED WRESTLER/PREFORMER ever)
Anyway, I think WWE sucks now because of how the booking is handled. Some of the stuff I said was great to see as a old school wrestling fan, but storyline wise and building up a Survivor Series PPV which is treated like a C-level PPV this year it didn’t make sense. Piper and Vince?, Swagger and Bourne w/o The Miz interfering or coming out?, MVP getting a US title shot?, the lack of interest shown for the WWE Title Match which is supposedly billed as your biggest Survivor Series title match in history. LOLWWE, seriously the whole night was completely random but in a bad way.
This is the reason why old school fans complain about how the product was back in the day. At least in the Hogan era, Bret Hart-New Generation Era, and the Attitude Era with Austin-Rock there was consistency when randomness was in storylines.
November 17th, 2009 at 1:22 am
One more thing, the only thing that was lacking in RAW was Michael Cole getting a vintage boot shoved down his mouth by Sheamus.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:25 am
Not a bad raw at all this week, an improvent I think.
November 17th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Come on, really? This was a good Raw.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:35 am
All I got to say is WOW! RAW was actually really good last night! There was a few parts that could of been scraped…like The Cena promo (How boring was that?) The Sheamus segment was dull…I mean what was the point of that? The Divas match was boring a hell.
Ok now. I wasnt high in Kofi Kingston before, but now…oh my God! What a great turn around for him! I never thought he would ever have such a mean streak but sure proved me wrong. That was an AWSOME segment with Kofi and Orton. It was GREAT.
I think Vince was making up for a shitty UK tour! And boy was it worth it.
4/5 for me!
November 17th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Great Raw , best in weeks for sure but as a prep for Survivor Series , no build what so ever .
About time they changed Kofi up and gave him a mean streak , he was way to colorful before .
MVP had a decent to good match with Miz , and the right ending happened with Miz scoring the win . But like Luke said , what did MVP do to win a shot at the title ? Oh thats right , anyone can come from behind the curtains/door and get a shot at any title , what was I thinking ?
Cena promo
Hope he didn’t write this , cause it made him look even dumber than he usually is . To borrow the Miz’s saying “REALLY” , you didn’t know it was a triple threat match ? Come on John “the Rock” Hogan u can do better than that .
Montage
Came off really good with all the great moments in WWF/E history in Madison Square Garden , alot of Hogan stuff also and nice to see Warrior and Macho Man being highlighted .
Main event
Typical match , did nothing but show that yes these are the members of the same main event matches battling out for the main titles . Neither one of the programs make any sense , since neither group is breaking up at the moment and I’m not sure how they will break up DX , so I’ll just wait fo rthe results instead of paying for this , not that it won’t be good but I already saw these SS matches at Bragging Rights , so why pay for it again ?
Luke
Been a pleasure this last year of so reading your blogs , and sad to see ya go . And to the few people that hate on this guy each week wanting him to write EVERY DETAIL of EVERY MATCH especially when the show has be below sub par , I just don’t see what you want from him but your entitled to your opinion .
I have to agree with Luke if the matches stink , no amount of writing on his part will make the matches better , that should have happen before the program aired . The writing staff needs to write scripts and stories that MAKE LOGICAL SENSE beforehand to keep people glued to the show . That will cause them to invite others to watch because the show is compelling . Nuff said
November 17th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
They may call it a triple threat match..but it’s just really 2 on one. even when DX fight each other during the match you know they will team up against Cena at some point in the match. so triple threat, handicap doesn’t matter same thing.
November 17th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Why does this guy even write a blog if all he does is complain and act like its a chore to watch the show. you do get paid right. I am bored with raw too but you act like you hate wrestling altogether. Hopefully the next guy will have a better attitude and not make me feel like I am bothering him by supporting his blog.
but to end on a positive note you are a good writer and do put yuor words together well no hard feelings just wanted to get my opiinion out there
November 17th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Unless something really good comes up in the next month and a half, I’m calling Kofi/Randy feud of the year.
That WWE@MSG vid was kinda weird. By that, I mean it had Foley and Hogan (who are in TNA), and Warrior and Savage (who are on Vince’s shit list and are considered taboo). Just surprised that Vince was able to put aside his ego for at least a segment.
Speaking of Vince, can anyone else see that Piper/Vince match at a big four PPV (prob Mania) coming from a mile away, or is it just me?
Well there was a plus to Lawler getting knocked the fuck put. We got Matt Striker on commentary. The guy is seriously one of the best color guys I’ve heard. Something about him using big words just works.
I wonder if Hunter pedigreeing LB was a foreshadowing to his rumored heel turn. Or maybe both of them are just turning heel?
I like the new song. I said it a couple of weeks ago. The flow of the video seemed a bit off to me, though. I’m not sure what it was, but it just didn’t feel right.
November 17th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Luke, usually I agree with your blogs, but this Raw was a good one. Te brawl between Orton/Kofi and had a TV 14 feel to it. Not to mention Hornswoggle got his ass pedigreed and Cena got tombstoned. Those 3 things alone made Raw good
November 17th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
Yeah Luke, I gotta agree with the other posters. I don’t know if you were just not in a good mood when doing the blog or what, but last night’s RAW was pretty good. Although I do agree, as far as setting things up for the PPV they could have done more. Wrestling wise though, I liked it.
I also really liked the way they did the ring entarances last night @MSG. WWE should really think about making that a permanent thing (maybe they already have).
November 17th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Raw was ok.
The brawl was definitely the best part of the night. I agree with codebreaker, a lot of TV-14 feel which is nice than this same old PG crap. That legdrop was great. This feud with Orton and Kofi is one of the only reasons I watch Raw now.
Hornswoggle getting pedigreed wasn’t needed but great to watch. I hope he is written out now and gets fired.
I fell asleep during the main event but from what Luke said it sounded like a total spotfest. I wish I could have seen Taker pedigree Cena. That would have made my day.
Divas match sucked. Why the hell does Gail not get a shot? Melina and Gail could probably have a great match.
Piper was nuts. I loved it. The McMahon shit wasn’t needed though. He’s a face on Raw and a heel on Smackdown? WTF?
Swagger and Bourne could have been match of the night…but they had a commercial as soon as it started and then pretty much have Swagger control eveything. I was so pissed off.
Miz was awesome on promo. Exactly what I want to know, how the hell did MVP earn a title shot? Maybe they’ll split him and Henry up soon so both of them don’t look like the Kool-aid man anymore.
I wish Michael Cole would have gotten Knocked the F out. Then we wouldn’t hear this Vintage bullshit. Striker is so good on commentary. I think that JR and him would be a great team.
The crowd was HOT at MSG.
I wonder how Ventura will be next week.
By the way, what is a mark? I see people say that they are marks but IDK what it means.
November 17th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Feud of the year?? This has barely been going on big dumbass
November 17th, 2009 at 4:44 pm
luke, usually i agree with you on raw but i think u were a little to hard on this one. i deff think kofi/orton had the moment of the night with the boom drop through the table. Piper was OK as host.
This weeks show though was bar-none better than last week
November 17th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
Valerie: Mark in a traditional sense is someone who perceives pro wrestling as real. But it has loosened to describe people who are obsessive over some wrestlers. eg: “I am quite the huge HHH mark, he DA BOMB!”
I’m glad i missed this episode lol, only thing that wuold have got my interest was seeing Piper.
November 17th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Doug – what other feud do you think has gotten the build and has actually managed to come up with something fairly fresh every week? Cena & Orton’s 50,000 run-ins this year? Angle vs. Styles? (Which has been running for the better part of the last two years? Wait, just thought of one. Taker/HBK. okay Iretract my last few statements about feud of the year. But, if The E keeps building Kofi/Randy like they have been, I would consider it a serious contender.
November 17th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
I’m so mad I didnt go there live. This college stuff is getting on my nerves
November 17th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Luke I give the overall show a 2 out of 5. I would rather watch TNA’s ppv’s over anything WWE can put together. Last Sunday’s show was remarkable with two bad matches.
Raw was a throw-a-way!
Well there ya have it. Call me a TNA mark, or whatever. Still all in all wrestling is better on the TNA line. Raw is a stale, watered down, mess. I still think Raw can come back, but it won’t be this year. I have noticed that UHD is putting alot of WWE programming on its channel here lately. I still don’t watch it, and if they only put on Raw and ECW then I never will!
Have a great one, and keep up the work. I know it is a drag writing about one of the worst wrestling shows on television.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
I think a lot of you were fooled by such a hot crowd that you actually thought RAW was good. It was as bad as usual except the Kofi/Orton brawl was so good which is so unlike RAW lately that you all seemed to eat it up like it was the best thing ever. This was another mediocre RAW. Goes to show what a hot crowd can do to anything.

I’ve been busy so not had a chance to fully watch the show yet, though I have watched bits and the Orton/Kofi stuff did look great.
However I wanted to comment on Big D’s comments about fued of the year. I think the Orton/Kofi fued has potential to be FOTY, but it has only been going a few weeks now, so it isn’t quite yet. And the HBK/Taker fued was only very short, and was mainly about the WM Match. HBK only won the right to face Taker in March by beating Kozlov, and neither were seen on WWE TV for months after the match.
I would say for FOTY, you’d have to look at Jericho v Rey, as they had some great matches, as well as Edge v Jeff Hardy and Punk v Jeff Hardy. Rey v Dolph Ziggler was just picking up when Rey was suspended, and Christian and Regal are having quite the decent fued on ECW.
TNA has been so disjointed in its fueds with the MEM storyline, but one that jumps to my mind is Beer Money v Team 3D, and the whole respect fued, which was pretty good. Also the Abyss v Dr. Stevie fued has been excellent, which has played out during most of the year from about April.
Don’t get me wrong, Orton v Kofi is awesome like the Miz, but a bit premature yet to be near FOTY, though it has potential to be if it goes on like this.

What about punk/hardy for fued of the year or jericho/mysterio if ziggler/morrison goes on much longer it could be a contender, your right about cole and his vintage BS valerie i find myself blocking out the commentary on raw lately even the king is doing my head in.
November 17th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Can’t say that I agree with you Luke. I enjoyed the show immensely, except for the Piper/McMahon segment taking up 5 minutes that could have went to another match.
November 17th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
kofi made himself last nite.
November 17th, 2009 at 10:21 pm
Raw was ok. But one thing that annoyed me was the fact that Lawler and cole didn’t seem to get mad when hhh pedigreed hornswoggle, but god forbid when someone like chavo shoves hornswoggle down, the announcers make it sound like he committed the crime of the century, just complete B.S.

Forgot to say that thank god Sheamus took the king out so we got halfway decent commentary for the second half of the show with Matt Striker

punk/hardy was fued of the year. Both of them had incredible matches and to say that orton and kofi could top that would be a travesty. The heavyweight title was involved, you had a perfect heel/babyface combo, matches that kofi and orton on dream they could put on, and one of the most demented, but perfect endings to the feud with punk attacking hardy on his last stand in the wwe for the time being. I challenge someone to top my arguement
November 17th, 2009 at 11:26 pm
Doug you say that Punk/Hardy was FOTY? I can see that, but what about Wolfe and Angle? This feud still new, but has more than the Punk/Hardy.
Waiting on you to debate!
November 17th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
I agree with Doug.
Perfect interviews, promo’s and matches made this fued memorable and it really established Punk as a heel. 2 different similarites and personalities made this fued the fued of the year.
Wolfe and Angle have had one match tell me how that matches up ?
November 18th, 2009 at 9:25 am
WOW. Wolfe and Kofi are nowhere near main event caliber and have no possible way of even reaching that realm by the end of the year. Thinking they could have a match of the year, feud, or whatever bullshit is ludarcris. Thank you wikipedia, read this and if you disagree then you are blind and stupid. Sorry for the long post, but I don’t think any arguement can be made not to agree with me after this for the longevity of the feud and the excitement it created:
At Extreme Rules, Hardy defeated Edge to win the World Heavyweight Championship in a ladder match. Immediately after the match, however, CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, which gave him a guaranteed world championship match at any time he wanted, and defeated Hardy to win the championship.[125] Hardy received his rematch at The Bash, and won the match via disqualification, with Punk still retaining the title.[126] At Night of Champions, however, Hardy won the championship for the second time, by defeating Punk.[127][128] At the SummerSlam pay-per-view in August, Hardy lost the title back to Punk in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.[129] On the August 28 episode of SmackDown, Punk defeated Hardy in a steel cage rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship, resulting in Hardy being forced to leave WWE, in storyline, per the pre-match stipulation
- Extreme Rules, shocking but awesome. Two title changes and a royal screwjob.
- The Bash, Hardy wins by DQ, again shocking and exciting.
- Night of Champions – title change, didn’t see that coming there with rumors of Hardy leaving.
- Summerslam – one of the best TLC matches of all time, with an incredible swanton, and the return of the Undertaker to demolish Punk who just won the championship. Unbelievable.
- August 28th – one of the best steel cage matches of all time with Punk completed demoralzing Hardy and all of his fans to finish the feud and overall win the feud.
Throughout this entire time with rumors of Hardy leaving, he consistently blew the top off the roof with main event matches and perfect chemistry with Punk. There is no way you cannot agree with this being the feud of the year with all the emotion involved and you have to be a blind idiot not to agree.

Plus Punk made the transition from babyface gracefully, but slowly, to a full fledged most hated heel during the feud, surpassing Jericho. Again, there is no feud and will be no feud over the course of the rest of the year that will even come close to triumphing Punk v. Hardy, end of story without a doubt

I think Chavo vs Hornswaggle is fued of the year
November 18th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
I agree with Doug.
Hardy and Punk had feud of the year. They put on great matches throughout the year, especially the cage match and the TLC. As well as great promos from both of them.
Kofi and Orton could be considered the best on Raw maybe.
November 18th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Kofi and Randy could be feud of the year if Randy Orton actually could have a good match instead of stopping people and putting them in headlocks five times in one match . The story behind Randy and Kofi was better then Jeff and cm punk and was different. Cm punk and Jeff feud was good but their matches were disappointing except the TLC match.
Kofi is more exciting he is actually doing something instead of going week after week talking about how he is drug free.
And who knows Kofi could be a main eventer by next year.
November 18th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
Orton/Cena is in the running for fued of the year. Though it was long the matches were still great.
But as far as promo’s Jeff/Punk takes the cake.
Angle/Wolfe doesn’t match up to either of them.
November 18th, 2009 at 11:06 pm
Jericho – Mysterio was feud of the year.
November 18th, 2009 at 11:45 pm
Luke, you may not like how the WWE title match was being built up, but like they say, looks can be deceiving. What I mean by that is based on what’s been happening on RAW, the triple threat match might be whack, but given who’s in the match (Cena, HHH, HBK: three future hall of famers), it got potential of being match of the year. Just Cena vs HHH and Cena vs HBK alone can steal any show and when you got all three together, and you cannot forget the long history of matches HHH and HBK had over the past several years….i’m telling everyone this match got hella potential!!
November 19th, 2009 at 2:31 am
Y2A is right-Jericho vs Mysterio= FOTY
November 19th, 2009 at 10:11 am
Too bad Punk and Hardy prolly won’t win at the Slammy’s if Hardy is still in legal trouble
November 19th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Fear not Luke, there’s still Ring of Honor and Dragon Gate USA, plus as much as TNA blows they can still put on some amazing matches, AJ/Joe/Daniels was one of the best matches I’ve seen in a while. The only thing I have to say about Raw is lets hope that Bryan Danielson doesn’t debut on the brand…
November 20th, 2009 at 1:12 am
Yep, Punk/Hardy was FOTY by far. There were great matches between Jericho and Mysterio, and obviously Taker and Michaels had an amazing match at WM 25. But Punk/Hardy had a great heel turn, awesome matches, amazing promos (mostly on Punk’s side, but Jeff did his part, for sure), and just a perfectly set-up storyline from the MITB cash-in to Punk’s last mockery of Jeff the week after he “retired” him when he came out in the face paint and attire of Hardy. It wasn’t just great matches or promos, but an all-around excellent feud from start to finish.

It was actually a decent Raw considering how bad Raw is these days. Hopefully we’ve seen the end of Hornswoggle but I doubt it.
The build-up for the PPV has sucked as usual. I guess the WWE thinks they don’t need to hype the Survivor Series because of all the “star power” involved in the main events.
Anyway please stop with the celebrity guest host crap.
