Welcome to the longest running blog on the WNW Blog Spot…RAW IS BLOGGED!!!
I promise not to Lance Cade this blog.
This past weekend has been crazy. It was the start of the college football season so I was glued to the TV and going to games. No pre-show notes this week. Sorry for the formatting. I don’t know what happened!
RAW is Blogged:
RAW is LIVE from Chicago, Illinois with this week’s guest host Bob Barker! Having been a longtime fan of The Price is Right, I was looking forward to this.
The Skinny:
Bob Barker hosted a RAW that I actually enjoyed!
Opening Segment: Bob Barker, Santino, Jillian, IRS, Chris Jericho
Bob Barker was out on the stage to start the show. He had his trademark microphone. They had the stage set up like The Price is Right studios. Howard Finkel was the announcer. They called Santino, Jillian, IRS, and Jericho out as contestants, just like the real show. They started with Santino and he bought a vowel instead. Barker said he had been body slammed too many times. Santino bid, then Jillian sang her bid. IRS argued about taxes before making his bid. Jericho didn’t make his bid. Instead, he griped & Barker tricked him into bidding a buck. Barker was good at comedy. My only problem was Lawler & Cole’s over-the-top laughing. Jericho won the Smackdown DVD and ended up getting a chance to get a trip to Hawaii if he beat his opponent.
This was a good segment to start the show. It wasn’t too long & it established Barker with the crowd. He pulled off some good comedy and I think the guys backstage should take notes. I was hoping to see Barker pull a “Happy Gilmore” and tell Jericho, “The price is wrong, bitch!” But in this day in age of PG, he might just say buddy instead of bitch.
Match #1 – Chris Jericho vs. MVP
MVP turned out to be Jericho’s opponent. These two tore the house down last week. They did the same thing this week. As usual, they had a commercial break in the middle of the match but that didn’t kill their momentum live. The finish had MVP go for the Playmaker, Jericho counter, then Jericho attempted to go for the Code Breaker & MVP countered into a pin.
Winner: MVP
After the break, Bob & Kelly Kelly plugged Barker’s book. DX discussed Happy Gilmore. Barker gave them the option of spinning the big wheel to find out who their opponents were. HBK went first and he got Chris Masters. Triple H made fun of his hair plugs. Triple H then got Randy Orton, for like the 689th time.
Match #2 – Chavo Guerrero vs. Evan Bourne
Chavo had a car on the line if he won the match. I was so glad that shitty music of Horny’s didn’t hit when Chavo’s opponent came out. They had a decent match with Chavo hitting a little offense. The Green Midget came from under the ring, squirted Chavo with a water gun, Chavo pie faced him then Bourne got the roll up for the win.
Winner: Evan Bourne
As I put on the RIB Twitter, I hate Hornswoggle.
Match #3 – John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes
Going into this match, I figured Rhodes would be buried yet again. Rhodes got in a decent amount of offense. Cena countered most of the stuff Rhodes tried to hit towards the end. Rhodes tried to lock in the Figure Four but Cena of course countered. He went for the STF but Randy Orton ran in. Cena hit a drop toe hold on Orton and Rhodes got DQed. WHAT THE HELL!? Afterwards, Rhodes got buried with an Attitude Adjustment.
Winner: John Cena by DQ
This ending sucked considering Orton was the one that got hit instead of Cena. I mean, if they want to come up with a crappy finish, consult the Vince Russo Handbook of Crappy Finished That Don’t Make Sense.
After the break, they plugged a “career altering” announcement from Batista next week. Maybe his ass will finally retire.
We had another edition of The Price is RAW. AJ (enter crazy last name here) from the White Sox and TNA fame was called. He got booed out of the building. I wonder if he brought his X Division title belt. They had a Wrestlemania 26 travel package as the prize. Santino & Barker exchanged confusing bids, just like the show. Santino won the travel package. Santino also had a chance to win a new hot tub and I don’t think the Bella Twins were included. Santino wanted to make some ‘Santino & Bella Twin’ soup. Barker announced a Body Slam Challenge.
Body Slam Contest #1: Santino Marella vs. The Big Show
Santino didn’t look too happy when Show came out. Big Show won of course. Barker looked confused and didn’t know who had won. Apparently, he couldn’t see or didn’t even watch what happened.
Winner: The Big Show
Body Slam Conest #2 – The Big Show vs. Mark Henry
Barker said he had someone else: Mark Henry. If you thought this sucked last week, it sucked even more this week. I did hear an audible “boring” chant directed at these two. Mark Henry got Big Show up & slammed him. Woopty doo.
Winner: Mark Henry
Meanwhile, Josh Matthews & Bob Barker plugged the book again. Buy that shit!
Main Event: DX vs. Chris Masters & Randy Orton
Orton & Masters worked decent together. They controlled most of the match and isolated HBK. Orton got the tag to Masters and HBK got the hot tag to Triple H. Trips took care of business and HBK hit his top rope elbow on Masters. HBK went for Sweet Chin Music but Masters reversed that into the Master Lock. Trips broke it up and HBK hit Sweet Chin Music on Masters. Triple H locked in the Sharpshooter on Orton and HBK locked in the Figure Four on Masters to pick up the victory.
Winners: DX
Rhodes & DiBiase came & got Orton out of the ring. The action spilled backstage. Orton snuck off to the side as the others battled backstage. Rhodes & DiBiase ended up escaping in a car while Orton stood in the ring. Orton talked before Cena, a focused Cena, made his way down. Cena ran down and they brawled for a little bit. Orton hit the rope DDT on Cena. Orton then got a chair and hit an RKO onto the chair on Cena to end the show.
I give this RAW:
3 out of 4 ring posts
The Final Word:
I really liked this show. They built towards Breaking Point for a change. It was good compared to past RAWs. I question though why we had no Divas or US title match build. I realize they probably won’t be on the card but at least have a feud. I thought this was a good show.
Onto Breaking Point, I don’t think they’ve done enough build for people to care. Who really wants to see Cena-Orton again? Punk-Undertaker is fresh. I don’t care to see DX-Legacy again. I think the tag title match might be good too.
I thought Bob Barker did a good job hosting RAW, minus the Big Show-Santino-Mark Henry stuff. I hope they’ll get somebody that has game show hosting experience for future dates.

Best Raw in a while. Bob Barker was really damn good tonight, and has not aged well. But man, I was laughing hard at a lot of points in the first 10 minutes. The verbal spats with Jericho were great. Everything but the Big Show/Santino/Henry segments were enjoyable.
Sure, Raw has turned into a watered down media promotional tool, but at least this week it was worth sitting through. Oh, and the whole spiel about the spade and neutering had me marking out like mad. That was awesome!

WWE needs guys with a lot of live audience experience to host raw… like past wwe wrestlers/managers, sports figures, and game show hosts, they are heading into the right direction with that right now atleast.
I liked raw, I think it was an excellent build to Breaking point, but they really need one or 2 more weeks of build for it to actually matter for me.

And Bob Barker was the best celebrity host since Shaw imo. He engaged with Jericho pretty dam well.

RAW was enjoyable this week. As you said, the whole santino/show/henry thing wasn’t good, but I think henry vs show could have been worse then it actually was. It did felt wierd that there was no women’s match nor a US title hunt from either Swagger or Miz, but that’s what you get when you revolve the show around the “spacial host”.
Hornswoggle was kept to a minimum this week, thought I could go for less of him. In fact, none of him. Still, Chavo got his weekly humiliation bit after Barker punched him. I’m getting tired of the whole “host gimmick”, but as long as they are as good as Barker and Shaq, I’ll let it go.

Enjoyed seeing Bob Barker but this show is awful. I even started watching TNA and from the replay on saturday, I can honestly say that I’ll be watching Impact instead of RAW. 12 years I watched RAW and being a loyal fan to wwE but as I write those words I will never see RAW again until it gets better.
I’ll watched RAW next week because of Trish Stratus. She’s so HOT. BTW, I don’t even care what Batista has to say.

With Legend Bob Barker Hosting Raw The show was all right.
The Opening Segment I liked it. Thought it was done well.
Jericho/MVP was a good soild match, I may not be a fan of Jericho when he is on the mic. But he is good in the ring with just about anyone.
Chavo/Bourne, Chavo finally get someone new to fight.
Then came the Eye Rolling moment with Cole and his Chavo The Bully Statement.
I know the fans here on this blog wouldn’t mind seeing Hornswoggle squashed.. but Cole did make a good point for once. It makes Chavo look bad picking on someone smaller then him..
Chavo may get stuck doing those type matches untill Vince changes his mind and ends it. but it still doesn’t make him look good.
I just hope they continue the Chavo/Bourne feud which is a lot better then what we had been seeing Chavo go thru.
Cody’s match was all right he did look good and seems to be ready for the Braking point match.
Henry/Big Show: slightly better then last week.
Who cares about the Hot Tub The Bella Twins are the better deal.
The Main Event was not bad. but I Half expected Cena to be right behind Orton and put him into the Adittude Adjustment when he turned around from watching DX and LEGACY fighting in the back….but the short brawl was good and Orton getting the best of it was good to see.
I am hoping Ted and Cody get the win over DX..much like Rated RKO did during their feud with DX. Legacy needs the win.

The Price is Raw was awesome! I wish they could have gotten Plinko and instead of winning cash, there could have been matches down at the bottom instead. But I am not complaining… seeing Bob Barker was amazing! This RAW was everything I was hoping it would be.
September 8th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I was watching at work and my co-worker and I realized how Bob looks the same after all these years. Bob Barker was a great host and showed why he is a tv legend.
Raw was actually entertaining, giving two stright weeks of enjoyment.
i was just hoping that wwe would have done something with the cody rhodes and orton event from last week. Having some tension between the two would have been interesting instead of making him look even more like orton’s bitch.

Raw was ok , predictable but ok . MVP is FINAALY getting some pop when he comes out , hopefully he’ll be main eventing soon . Had to read the rest of Raw from this early blog since I cut ot off after Smiling Mark Henry got into the ring with the Big No . I was bored to death with this weeks Raw , though Bob Barker was good like Shaq , but I prefer the older wrestlers who can still work a crowd like MDM and Dusty Rhodes . Still have no desire to watch Breaking Point since none of the matches are that captivating . And even CM Punk vs Taker is not enough for me personally , why shell out 40+ for one good match that could go either way ? Makes no sense to me …..
2.5 out of 4 for me
September 8th, 2009 at 1:55 am
Well I am going to rate this show for what it was worth!
The opening segment was awesome, even my wife laughed and thought it was funny!
MVP and Jericho was great!
5 out of 10!
The next match with Chavo winning a car was decent until the showing of the little green hobbit from under the ring with a water gun!
2.5 out of 10!
The next segment was a nice showing of a group faction beat down with Orton looking more like a cartoon heel!
3.25 out of 10!
The following body slam segments are to me like this!
1 out of 10!
1 out of 10!
The main event was a great 3.75 out of 10!
This is worth watching for Bob and the opening match! The rest of this crap was just like I said crap!
I decided halfway through the body slam junk to start watching
ECW’s Blizzard Blast from 1996!
Way more excitement there than Raw! To me Raw seems more on the lines of the late WCW!
TNA was headed down this road, but now it is Raw! I mean lets add a new host every week, and to top it off lets have matches that suck!
Hey creative why you are at it why not hire Scott Hall and let him do all the booking! That way you can blame him for when the show sucks!
Wait to late for that!
September 8th, 2009 at 7:48 am
I enjoyed raw alot this week. And by the way tna is heading down this road and it’s quite obvious the booking sucks, the stars are waayyyyyyyyyy past there prime and people just aren’t convinced it’s any different then wcw. And quite frankly people are complaining and whining week in and week out that Raw doesn’t build new stars news flash TNA DOESN’T EITHER. The only difference is they will go bankrupt in a few years if they keep there crap up.
Opening segment was hilarious barker was great on the mic with Jericho.
M.V.P/Jericho, really really good match.
Chavo/Bourne, good match with the exception of Hornswaggle.
Cena/Rhodes, Also a good match with a questionable ending.
Hnery/Show, Impressive show of strength by the world’s strongest man.
Main Event was steller and the ending was a good build towards Breaking Point which should be a great ppv the main events are going to be great.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Luyke I was hoping that you would critise this Raw again because besides the ending it sucked.
Bob is no doubt a legend. But he butchered some of his lines on TV, no doubt.
Opening segemnt was ok, but it just was too gimmicky.. I mean I thought I was watching a game show and this is supposed to be Raw, why not just have a Raw Roulette? I mean that would have made a lot more snes einstead of just winning “a brand new car” or a “trip to Hawaii”
What build exactly are you talking about? Besides the ending nothing was built, I mean it was basically a face dominated show. We all know DX is gonna go over Legayc. And because Orton got the “edge” no pun intended over Cena, now most of us know unless Orton is gonna do what Rock did to Foley there is no way he is walking out with the title..
The one saving grace I have for this episode is that Trish is hosting next week.
And btw, what was up with Bob Barker anbd Chavo? Its not enough he jobbed to hornswaggle and Bourne.. Now he’s jobbing to an 86 year old man who has never fought in his life? I begging WWE to just realease Chavo and Hornswaggle
Im sorry but other the the brawl at the end, Raw this week didnt do it for me.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:27 am
I bet guys like MVP, Swagger, Kofi, and The Miz wish top guys like Jericho were on Raw again full time. It is a shame that those guys need to have a traveling tag champion make appearances on their show just to hope to burst out of the midcard.
I would HATE being on Raw with HHH, Cena, Orton, and Batista. AT LEAST HBK came back and kinda raised the red flag for HHH that it is TIME to build Legacy. Shit.
September 8th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
How can you said “I promise not to Lance Cade/Big Daddy V” this blog when they’ve been more successful then you’ll most likely ever be in anything. Kind of a sweet irony there.
September 8th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Great Raw. Bob Barker was a great host and entertaining throughout the show.
MVP and Jericho was definitely the match of the night. Both work so good together and both are great wrestlers. I dont think that Jericho and Show should drop the titles to Henry and MVP, but I would like to see Jericho back in the main event on Smackdown.
The body slam shit was really stupid.
PUSH LEGACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least Cody was able to get some offense in. If he faced Triple H, he probably wouldn’t get 1 punch.
Bourne vs. Chavo was good. Evan should be in US title matches, not teaming with Hornswoggle. This shit is getting on my nerves. Chavo is a great wrestler and I think he should move back to ECW to help put younger stars over since he’s just getting beaten by a midget on RAW.
Why is Cole acting so fake? He was good on Smackdown with Taz and JBL and Foley but he acts like an idiot with King.
Masters was ok in the ring. Orton and Triple H were good. I’m sick of Orton vs. HHH again. Why not HBK vs. Orton? That would be a great match and probably one people wouldn’t mind seeing again. HBK is still great in the ring and I really hope he doesn’t retire anytime soon.
However, I hope Batista is retiring. That would make my whole day.
Oh yeah, no US or Women’s matches. WTF? Maybe they’ll scrap something really stupid together for the US title for Breaking Point.
September 8th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
i thought this week was rather good compared to the last couple weeks. i was lmao when barker had no clue who the fuck won the big show/santino match. I also loved the neutered/spade plug
September 8th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
How the heck does Cody lose to DQ but Evan Bourne doesn’t lose due to Hornswoggle spraying a water gun? Stupid writers.
September 8th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
At least they are trying out a new guy in the main event (Chris Masters). Funny how he wasn’t with the company a few weeks ago and now he’s main-eventing RAW lol.
September 8th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
raw was decent but this week it seemed like Cole & Lawler were awful-more awful than usual. I mean i’m watching the match and listening to lawler talk about the “prizes” that could be won. It was very annoying.
September 8th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Rhodes got DQed cuz of Orton’s interference. You can’t just interfere and run into the ring in the middle of a match lol. Probably should have been a No Contest rather than DQ though.
US and Divas Champion nowhere to be seen. Strange.
Chris Masters only main evented so they could have someone tap out who isn’t involved in a match at Breaking Point.
Bella Twins = Super hot
September 8th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
I can’t help but to think how awful, and yet so awesome, it would be to have The Iron Sheik as a guest host.
September 9th, 2009 at 5:44 am
andy- that was exactly shanes point- we know why the cody cena match was ended- the question was why was hornswoggle able to enter the ring and distrupt the match without the ref calling it off.
there can’t be one rule for cena and another rule for everyone else.
and i wouldn’t say masters was main eventing- he was only there to loose the match without anyone else looking bad
September 9th, 2009 at 8:37 am
So far, all of the non-wrestler hosts have been crap. Because the only reason they are on the show is that they have something to sell or promote. It’s so obvious they don’t give a rats ass about wrestling or Raw, but just wnat to sell some stuff. It makes WWE look like a late night talkshow. Bob Barker was ok at first, but after he didn’t even seem to know what a bodyslam was (during the santino/big show thing), he sucked. If you want to just mention you have a book coming out, fine, but don’t monopolize the show to hock your crappy memoires…
September 9th, 2009 at 11:17 pm
If you want to watch a wrestling show look at smackdown and ecw.
The way that I found out that I can best enjoy Raw is to not take the show seriously and just take everything for face value. If you want good matches, feud building, etc… you will be disappointed often. Just accept it for what it is.
September 10th, 2009 at 5:31 am
Well, thats just stupid. I expect from the supposed A show, run by a company with Wrestling entertainment in it’s name, actual wrestling and entertainment. Right now, RAW is neither…
