Brock Lesnar To Challenge For WWE Title At SummerSlam?

The original plan for SummerSlam before it was learned Daniel Bryan needed surgery and would be required to miss a significant amount of time was for him to defend the belt against Bray Wyatt. With the company crowning a new champion at Money in the Bank, those plans have obviously changed.

The new idea that has come up is ways to utilize Brock Lesnar as a challenger for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Opponents pitched include Roman Reigns, Cesaro, John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton and Sheamus.

What’s interesting out of the list of proposed opponents is that Lesnar vs. Cesaro was a program WWE wanted to do at SummerSlam before the change in course. It’s still something that could happen into the fall or some time next year (if it doesn’t happen in August).

WWE surveyed fans last week about opponents for Brock Lesnar as the challenger, listing the aforementioned names as possible champions.

That will be great ! Brock return for wwe title is bad news for every talents in locker room !

  • Xavier

Lesnar with the title needs to happen. In a perfect world we would of got Lesnar vs Bryan at Summerslam for the title, no two guys looked better than them coming out of Mania so it would of made a ton of sense. Unfortunately though Bryan still isn’t able too go.

I’d absolutely love too see Reigns/Lesnar at some point but I think Summerslam would be too soon for the rising star Reigns. If WWE/Lesnar can work out a deal where Lesnar gets the title and agrees to work more dates then I’d be all for Reigns/Lesnar at WM31. A clean win at Mania over the guy who ended t be streak would be as big as it gets at this point.

    • Gary Robert

Which is what WWE has to remember going forward in terms of booking. No random Lesnar losses until the big payoff moment. He has to continue to win and be built as unstoppable so that way a future title loss to a young star gives that star a massive push.

      • Xavier

I agree. Have Lesnar go over Cesaro, Sheamus, Bryan, Batista, perhaps even Cena this time around unless they wanna save Cena for Reigns.

    • Snap

If Lesnar is to win the title, then he has to defend it at every PPV (at the very least, every other PPV) while he is champion. He doesn’t need to show up each and every week at RAW and SmackDown, but none of this “win match and disappear for four months” thing. If Lesnar isn’t willing to do so them he doesn’t deserve to win the title. I’d prefer Cena as champion over Lesnar in that case.

As always, we’ll need to wait and see how WWE goes forward.

      • Xavier

Yeah I agree with that 100% hopefully Lesnar and Vince have or will work out something. If you’re gonna have Lesnar end the streak then the WWE has to capitalize on that by strapping Lesnar. It makes since from a creative and financial stand point to have Lesnar as Champion right now

      • J Vomkrieg

Yep, last thing we need is another part-time champ like the Rock.

  • Eddie Edwards

If the plan is to put the title on Lesnar then I’d like to see Cena win at MITB and drop it to Lesnar at Summerslam. Then have someone like Reigns over Lesnar at WM 31.

    • John

Cena beating Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2012 still ranks as one of the most ridiculous booking decisions that WWE has ever made! I don’t see how they don’t do that match again in the future in order to right the wrongs of that stupid decision.

      • Gary Robert

        Agreed

      • Guest

Yeah, they admitted that. That why I said that Lesnar is going to face either him Batista or The Rock at WM31. He gotta clear that loss up from Cena.

      • J Vomkrieg

I actually enjoyed that match for the most part. It was quite a different feeling match. I didn’t agree with the finish, but I liked the rest of it.

      • Jay El Bee

Why because he didn’t win. The guy destroyed Cena for nearly 25 minutes and only lost because Cena had to use a steel chain and AA’d him on the steel steps. Besides the booking in his match with Punk which he ended up winning made him look more ridiculous than anything his matches with Triple H & Cena ever did.

        • John

You mean somebody actually destroyed Cena in a match only for him to make an ‘unlikely’ comeback and win?? Yeah, that’s nothing new!. The point is that it was Lesnar’s first match in 8 years and WWE invested millions of dollars in order to get him to return, and then you make him lose in his very first PPV match? I’m sorry, but that’s terrible booking.

          • Jay El Bee

Sorry but it wasn’t terrible booking at all. You have to remember that at the time Lesnar was only under contract for a year, so putting him over any of their top stars especially Cena would just make the WWE as a whole look bad. Besides if you saw Raw the next night you would have seen that the loss didn’t hurt him at all, it was the 2-3 months he was written off TV that did that.

    • Guest

I agree…but I dont need to see Lesnar vs Reigns at WM31. Maybe another time in the future.

  • John

Cesaro has gone backwards since WrestleMania and the partnership with Heyman hasn’t really worked in my opinion, so personally i would find it a disappointment if Lesnar had to work with him at SummerSlam. Brock should only be involved in main event calibre matches, especially coming off ending the streak, and Cesaro is just a midcarder at this point.

    • J Vomkrieg

As always, putting Heyman with someone has been great for Heyman and done little or nothing for the person he is with. Did lesnar get over because of Heyman? Or because he is a freak of nature. Punk was at his most over BEFORE he teamed up wtih Heyman.

He may be great at doing promos, but the promos make him look good. The never actually give the person he is with the rub. My 2 cents.

  • AJGutie

Idiotic if they give the belt to Lesnar. The dude didn’t deserve to end the streak and doesn’t deserve to hold the title. What has he done since Mania. Nothing !

    • Guest

Remember, it was promised to him in his 2 year contract that he signed at the top of 2013. 1 title reign. Idk why people are acting so surprised and upset about it now, when we all knew about it before.

  • mike

Please God lesnar vs ceasaro or lesnar vs reigns or lesnar vs sheamus would be the best fit I just glad it won’t be lesnar vs Bryan cause theres no way bryan should even be in the ring with Brock lol I don’t care fake or pg no one would even believe Bryan could or even should beat Brock , wwe really has let the reality factor die the last few years, lol like my 6 year old said after Bryan won wrestle mania (this has got to be fake there’s no way that little bearded guy can beat those big men) look wrestling has alway been fake/predetermined but at least you could believe one guy could beat the other

    • Gary Robert

Lesnar has to go over so you don’t want to see him against Cesaro or Reigns.

    • Snap

Hey, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.

Even a cat can fight off a bear, so it stands to reason that a goat can hold his own against an animal and a viper.

      • Xavier

I see what you just did there lol

      • Trapdoor

or in the Bella’s case: The size of the bone, the dogs are playing with. :oO

      • Avalanchian

It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight or the size of the fight in the dog. It’s about the script of the show. =)

    • Guest

Yeah, it did seem unbelievable seeing Bryan beat both those 2 big guys. But I kinda wanna see Bryan vs Lesnar now.

    • Xavier

Him looking like a common man or your average Joe blow was/is the entire point of the angle with Bryan and the Authority though. Him not being edgy or rough was done by design. The angle wouldn’t have worked otherwise. The WWE would of been stupid not too out the belt on him after basically what was a year of building this guy up and putting him over all the top faces and top heels on the roster. Why put him over your company ace (clean) the top most over heel faction (since NWO, DX or perhaps even The Freebirds) and why turn Triple H and Orton heel for him if you’re not gonna strap him at some point? Not having Bryan finally get his day in the sun would of been the dumbest thing the WWE could of done

    • Bob’s Diner

Yes I’m sure Daniel Bryan making 80,000 fans at WrestleMania happy made McMahon and HHH very upset. Because, you know, they didn’t plan it or anything

      • Avalanchian

So what you are saying is that wrestling for the most part has predetermined outcomes? *gasp* I’m in total shock by this news.

    • jman72485

Hey it was 10 years ago that a small dude beat Lesnar for the WWE championship. Remember Eddie Guerrero. Was probably about the same size as Bryan.

      • Jay El Bee

With the help of some large Jewish bald guy if I remember correctly, that’s the only thing that made his victory over Lesnar believable.

    • Rayner Chee-bai

Every single matches that you propose is Lesnar vs midcarders. Believe me, none of them are ready to face Lesnar at this point yet.

  • David F

I wouldnt give the WWE title at SummerSlam to Lesnar unless he agrees to work fall ppvs. Whats the point in having him win the title at SummerSlam and not showing up until Royal Rumble. You need WWE title to be featured in fall especially with NFL season. I would personally wait until Royal Rumble for Lesnar to win the title.

  • Patrick

I don’t care see Lesner fighting for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. or maybe winning the title. he’s a part time worker.

  • Trapdoor

MITB: Winner of belt stands in ring > Winner of case comes out, to say their biggest worry is them (case holder) > Brock’s music hits > Brock on stage, mic in hand (maybe put the case holder off the stage), “I’ll give you something to worry about.” *smirks* > Fade out.

  • Billion Dollar Princess

Brock Lesnar shouldn’t win the WWE Title.

  • Avalanchian

I think it would be kind of cool to see Cesaro as the champion. He could then leave Heyman saying he didn’t need him. That is when Heyman brings back Brock to do his dirty work. Cesaro can become over again at least to the fans and feud with Lesnar.

  • Avalanchian

Interesting my post didn’t seem to go thru the 1st time… Anyways I said it would be cool if Cesaro were to have the title and then leave Heyman saying he didn’t really need him. Heyman then gets his feelings hurt and get Brock to take care of business for him. Brock takes over the title but before that happens Cesaro would once again become over with the fans.
